This was the second Greek restaurant I tried in my search for a really great pastitsio (Greek lasagna). The restaurant itself was nice, though a bit dated. I ordered the pastitsio, and the portion was very generous. It was good, but it was missing some of the depth of flavor I remember from the versions I used to have in Chicago. My husband got the gyro plate, which was also a big serving, but it wasn't quite what he expected -- he thought it would come with pita bread, but it was served with rice and green beans instead. He said it was okay, just not what he had in mind. The soup of the day, a leek and potato soup, was flavorful and comforting. The hummus was smooth and creamy. This was such an excellent place. It's BYOB so we brought our own drinks. The food was delicious the staff was friendly and the patio was just beautiful. I really enjoyed eating al fresco. I had dolmas which can sometimes be a disappointment. Not these. I like extra lemon juice on mine. They were very good and I also had hummus and bread with a salad. Tried this for the first time coz I always see it when I drive on Grapevine Hwy. Food was ok for me--not bad and that great. Food was tasty. We were served free flat bread with no hummus so we had to order a half order. Hummus was good. I ordered the Mixed Grill -- Souvlaki beef, Souvlaki chicken and Kefta Kabob. I had 2 small, like really small pieces of Souvlaki beef with it. So that was a bit disappointing. (You will hardly see it on my plate; it was under the onions-- see picture). The service, live music and food was exceptional. I've been dying to find an authentic Greek restaurant near by and so thrilled we stopped in. The music is not overly loud where you can't have a conversation, the food was nicely portioned as well. The jumbo shrimp plate served with rice and green bean was dynamite. Me and my friends were craving Greek cuisine and while in the area, we decided to check this place out this past Sunday around 2:45 pm. The restaurant has a light and bright heated patio, and the dining room was decorated very nicely with mementos of Greece, as well as a mural of Santorini. We were the only diners there, and the service was lackluster at most. The food was amazing as we ordered the Saganaki flaming cheese along with the hummus topped with shawarma chicken for appetizers, and they were yummy!! We also ordered the Avgolemono soup which was velvety and lemony!! We ordered the salmon with the creamy butter sauce and a Greek salad with souvlaki chicken. Our entrees rook what seemed like forever to arrive, and we could hear some sort of confusion from the kitchen. Because we were pressed for time, I had to eat my salad super quick, and we had the salmon dish boxed to go. Our drinks were never refilled, and the server was completely aloof the whole time. Walked right in and was seated for a party of 1! The ambiance was very nice. Christmas music playing in the background. Quiet enough to hear it. Both indoor and outdoor seating available. Did a pickup for $160 order. Despite allowing extra time, it took 30 minutes longer than stated. I had been waiting for 20 minutes past when the server told me that they were bagging it up. When I finally asked about it a second time, a server walked back and brought the bags out immediately which must have been waiting in the back (or so she thought). Got home after 15 minute drive to find they had forgotten a full enter and bowl of soup. Called up to have them say "oh it's here she must have just forgotten to put it in the bag". My bad for not double checking but I would have hoped that they would check their own work before sending it out. Now another 30 minutes round trip to get the remaining food. The food is good but for this aggravation I'm not sure I will ever give them more than a one off now that I know I can't trust them with larger orders. read more

I had the chicken souvlaki, and the green beans threw me off a bit. I love green beans, but I am totally team keep them crisp. These were cooked completely, looked like they came from a can, and were mixed with some tomatoes. It came with a large serving of tender, grilled chicken, some grilled veggies, and rice. It wasn't the prettiest plate I have ever been served, but you can't judge a book by its cover, because it was delicious. We finally tried this place after passing it for years in highway 26. It is now our new favorite spot. The food was excellent, and hot fresh pita bread was served right as you're seated. We had the mousaka, Souvlaki Beef, side greek salad, tomato basil soup, Limoncello Mascarpone Mousse Cake, and Greek coffee. All of it was delicious. I appreciated how much feta cheese was on my Greek salad Generous portions. And that Limoncello Mascarpone Mousse Cake was absolutely amazing. The Greek coffee was thick and strong, so not for the faint of heart! The service was attentive and friendly. Our favorite part of this restaurant is the ambience. It is elegant, romantic, and quiet. I've been meaning to stop in and dine at Cafe Medi for quite a while now. Recently, I finally stopped in and it was WONDERFUL, delicious food and superb service. There were 6 in our party. Ashley, our server, took excellent care of all of us during our visit. My wife ordered chicken kabobs and I ordered the Gyro plate. We also had a nice house salad to start our meal off with. Both of our entree platers were so delicious and expertly prepared. My wife and I'll definitely be back to dine again REAL soon. Food: 4 stars. Fresh & tasty. I thought it was odd to have dill pickles on not only the Greek salad but also the dolmas, so that knocked it down a star. My favorite was the avgolemono soup, which they serve daily. Service: 1 star. It's incredibly disappointing to be a party of 1, seated in a booth directly by the side stand, meanwhile other tables are open & available, and still completely neglected by the servers. Apparently Riley was my server but never came to introduce herself, or take my order, or bring drinks, or clear my plates. One of our most romantic nights! We sat in the outside area where the heaters kept it perfect. It was raining heavy so we listened to the rain while being serenaded by an amazing acoustic guitar player. We split the mixed grill and fool. We also enjoyed a lemon mint hookah and ended with some baklava. We were there as they were closing but they told us not to rush so we could finish our meal and still enjoy the rain/guitar/hookah. I'm not the greatest fan of Mediterranean food, but when you tell your friend to choose a lunch spot, you go where instructed. This spot is cute and is located on Grapevine Hwy between McDonald's and Wingstop. The interior is dimly lit and feels homey and cozy. The staff was very friendly and we were greeted when we walked in. I ordered the mixed grill which comes with souvlaki beef, souvlaki chicken, and kefta kebab. The plate also includes rice and green beans which were surprisingly very good. Soup is also served with it and I opted for the lemon rice soup. It was perfectly tart and savory and so delicious! They bring fresh pita in a basket to your table and it was soft and pillowy. My favorite was definitely the kefta kebab. It was spiced very nicely and was not at all dry. The portion was generous and we left full but not weighed down. The only thing I can complain about is that it's not stroller friendly to get in and out. There are steps leading into the front entrance only. Other than that, I am happy to come back if my friend suggests this place again. Definitely getting hummus next time. read more

The server first brought out some warm pita bread with our side salads. We were with our toddler and thought it was incredibly thoughtful that they brought her food out before ours so she could eat. She was hungry and was on the verge of being fussy so that was awesome. We ordered her the classic - nuggets and fries. Gah-REAT Mediterranean eats in a cool, low-lit, store front with a family-owned feel make Cafe Medi a frequent stop for my Medi-food needs. I have a hard time ordering anything other than shawarma (aka shawerma, ummm sometimes...) from a Mediterranean place. I know, my foodie card is at risk. I like souvlaki, enjoyed Moussaka, Lamb shank, gyros, but that savory flavor and ability to mix it with tzatziki and saffron rice is just MMMMMM. So, my test for any medo-greek restaurant is "how's the shawarma?" Cafe Medi's answer: FABULOUS. Portions are ample, and the flavor robust. My second test is the hummus, which Cafe Medi also garners five stars for. Also of note is the stellar Avgolemono, a lemon rice soup with a bit of chicken that stands alone among soups. And Dolmas here are rivaled by very few others. Service is strong and personable. Cafe Medi is BYOB, so don't forget the wine when you come. The other location (Keller) has a bit more character than this one. But, the food is consistent across both stores. Don't miss the greatness! read more
