French Toast
James K.

Looking for a new breakfast place, hoping to find a "regular" place, we came upon Café Lago. It's small and although they have an outdoor patio, this day was quite chilly and we wanted to dine inside... and so did everyone else. All the tables were full, but there was no one else waiting for a table at that time. There doesn't seem to be any sign up sheet/list, so stay near by and keep an eye out for people leaving their table. The staff are certainly busy but just seemed odd that no one would talk to you until you are at a table. We didn't wait long for our table and once seated, we were immediately greeted and our drink orders were taken. The staff are very friendly and personable. It was our first time so we were just looking over the menu and deciding between breakfast or lunch. So, we decided on one of each. I had the "Jake's Eggs" and my friend had a turkey sandwich. We also had a slice of the French Toast. And to drink I had the iced tea. For starters, the tea is freshly brewed. You really have to appreciate a place that will brew their tea instead of using instant. We didn't have to wait very long before the food came out. The plates were full and the food was fresh and hot. For starters, the French Toast is made from raisin Texas toast and it looks like something you would see on the menu. The pictures always look better than the food, but this looked amazing! And looks were deceiving; I realize French Toast can seem pretty basic, but you don't want to pass this up even if it's just to share a slice or two with someone. The Jake's Eggs is just scrambled eggs with a lot added in. It's probably really good if you are very hungry but not if you want something light. I had the hash browns and tortilla. It's a decent egg meal but not something I would order regularly. The sandwich was kind of plain. The turkey was fresh and came with corn chips. So, overall it's a nice place but not a place I would pick as a "regular". They are very nice and it's a quaint place, good prices. But the food was just okay. I would consider giving it another try in the future and see if the food is any better.

Eh. Cute little diner in lakeway. Food was great we had huevous rancheros and chops and eggs! Waited 25 minutes before even seeing our server though. Service was not great and floor was dirty and lots of flies everywhere. Asks staff when paying at the end "how are you?" They say good. Don't ask back and just take your card to pay

Cappuccino frozen. Very good. Not too sweet

We came Saturday morning 9:45am, no wait. The frozen cappuccino was delish on this ultra hot day. The cinnamon raisin French toast with bacon and eggs was ok nothing special. I expected more flavor for the French toast but it tasted like regular bread. Service was fast and friendly. Everyone there we're really sweet and helpful with suggestions regarding local wineries.

This was our 2nd time in for breakfast and the food was absolutely delicious! The service was good, we have no complaints. We love the 'local' type ambience, and the tradition of different coffee mugs that have been accumulated over the years. Great breakfast for sure!

If you visiting Lakeway, be sure to grab breakfast at Cafe Lago! You can thank me later. All the locals know what a gem it is. The breakfast is fresh, tasty and always delicious. We had the Migas plate and the breakfast burrito. Thumbs up! Service was spot on and delivered with humor, which is always a bonus!

Eggs Lakeway with ham and blueberry pancakes

After dropping our car off for service in the area we searched Yelp for a breakfast spot. We scrolled through a few options and decided to try Café Lago. It's a quaint little spot nestled in the Lakeway community. Nice to be outside of metro Austin, where parking is free and plenty. There was serviced seating outside, but we opted to sit inside. After seating ourselves, a young woman immediately approached with menus and flatware, and asked for our drink orders. She returned quickly with glasses of water and coffee, then took our food orders. The breakfast menu included traditional options along with breakfast tacos and burritos. We chose the Eggs Lakeway with pancakes and choice of meat. No exaggeration -- our food was served just a few minutes later, hot and freshly made. We enjoyed breakfast and had ample coffee refills without asking. This was a great find thanks to Yelp! Btw, check out the spinning fly repellent contraptions if you dine outside.

Cafe Lago in Lakeway is a spot for the locals and visitors alike. It was great watching the regulars interact with the servers. I'm a fan of breakfast food and Cafe Lago did not disappoint. Go with the blueberry pancakes. And the bacon was great too.

Their menu, is unlike any other I have seen in the Austin area. It's unique, well crafted, and intentional. Now here's the fun part, that creativity has translated quite well into some of the most well tasting drinks in Austin. Corn Cream Matcha latte: The minute I saw this on the menu I knew I had to get it. I have seen corn matcha and lattes in California many of times, but never in Austin. A corn matcha or lattes is one of those drinks that is a challenge. You can either totally miss the corn flavor or overdo it. I think Cafe Du Bless gave me the perfect ratio and this drink was so yum. Give me 3 to go please. Earl grey matcha cloud: Their matcha cloud is so fluffy-as a cloud usually comes. But here's the thing can we please compliment it's perfect whip and the green on these matcha's! In regard to the earl grey taste itself, it was so well infused. Banana latte: Okay so as we all know banana flavors got as popular as strawberry last summer. I love a banana latte, but it's fair to say that even if a banana flavor is easily accomplished it's also hard to strike a balance, too bring consistency, and still allow the espresso to come through. Once upon a time, Disneyland released a drink called the Banoffee, it was a hit! I absolutely think Cafe Du Bliss came close to that trend with their banana latte. All of these drinks and I also must compliment their superb service. The girl who took my order was so sweet and I had questions about their drinks and she was so kind in her customer care. I will absolutely be back. They have a sweet potato latte and a black sesame latte I need to try.

The area it is in is gorgeous and was not expecting to feel like I was in a different world. Appetizers that were supplied for the wedding were great, but I thought the main meal was kind of lacking and kind of inconsistent. I understand it's hard to cater for that many guests though. Most staff were pleasant and welcoming but had a couple of experiences where we felt very rushed and herded around the property. Despite my concerns this is definitely a special place to get married and a gem on this side of Austin! Lalala, Bob B.

The hospitality is very nice and friendly. The cafe uses high quality ingredients and the food is really delicious. We were there on a Thursday' night which was nice for the half priced bottles of wine all day. Well crafted cocktails are also available too. For food we dined on: Cold pressed watermelon - cold dense watermelon packed with sweet flavor contrasted against savory cheese and nuts. Really liked this dish. Little gem salad - simple but perfectly balanced flavors. Fresh. Crisp. Refreshing. Heirloom tomatoes - ripe tomatoes simply dressed with olive oil and salt. Crab cakes - these were tasty with a great sauce and pepitas. Steak - perfectly cooked to temp and served with grilled tomatoes. We were hoping for the duck confit which I've heard is incredible but they were old out for the day. They are open for lunch as well and brunch on the weekends (that menu looks good!). The service was great, and everyone got a really genuine greeting when they walked through the door (which has been lacking on menchaca lately). Loved the option of late night food as well. It's not the kind of spot where you go for a full meal, but for a quick bite or a coffee break, it works just fine. The coffee was actually nice, smooth, not too bitter. I also ordered a sandwich, and that part didn't go as smoothly. They completely forgot about it, so my friend and I ended up sitting there for almost half an hour before we finally went inside to ask about it. Only after that did they bring it out. It wasn't a huge deal, but it definitely took away from the experience. Inside, though, the atmosphere wasn't quite my style. The interior is noticeably dark, and it felt a bit heavy, so I didn't feel like staying indoors for long. But the outdoor seating completely changed the experience. Outside it's much brighter and more welcoming, with a comfortable, relaxed vibe. If the weather is good, it's honestly a great spot to sit for a while, drink your coffee, and just slow down a bit.

This is a very cute cafe and ice cream shop with a play place in the back. It's a $10 admission per child, parents get in free. The admission here is $8 less than Pikopye's and you're able to just walk in. Love that. As some yelpers have mentioned, it is a bit chaotic as there are so many toys around. There are lots of tables to sit and eat at within the play area. There are different play areas such as a doctor's office set up complete with little scrubs, hats, and stethoscopes. There's a firefighting area with fire fighter gear. As well as a farmer's market area with tons of toy produce. All the toys from each play area are scattered amongst the entire play room. I'm kind of wondering how often they sanitize all the toys/costumes/tables etc. as there are a lot of kids with runny noses here. Overall it's a good place for kids to come and socialize/burn some energy.
