The coffee is one thing I always look forward to at this restaurant. With a rotation of seasonal flavors and some great staples, I know I'm always going to enjoy my drink. Unfortunately, the food and the time taken to make the food bring my rating down. I've been here multiple times and consistently the wait is at least 30 minutes for dishes that are relatively simple. One time my friends and I got a take out order and two of our orders came out in 10 minutes, but we had to wait 45 minutes for the other order. The staff is always very friendly and gives good service, the issue is just the time taken to get the food out. The food is pretty good. They've got some good things and they offer pretty good vegetarian options and alternatives. I wish the dishes were seasoned a bit more and had more flavor though. read more

Everytime I come to Memphis I have breakfast at this spot. It seems they updated their food menu and coffee menu from the last time I was here and it is expansive. This lonley star is given to the African American waiter. I entered the cafe around 2 p.m., plenty of empty tables outside and inside, no cue. I asked if I'm okay inside the cafe. He was very loud and rude sending me back to the outside door then telling me that I can sit myself. This is a great cafe! I had the Bird & Biscuit and my partner had the salmon pita, both of which were delicious. The service was quick and our server was extremely kind. I like how open and bright the cafe is! You can sit outside to enjoy brunch, or even come in just to grab coffee while you study or work. The cafe does get busy, especially during brunch time, so it may be tricky to find street parking. Luckily, the cafe is also in walking distance of many great neighborhoods. I had two miserable breakfasts in Memphis and then i found this place. A delightful little cafe with a host of baked treats as you walk in. They feature local artists on their walls and they present an overall comfy atmosphere. I stayed simple and got the bagels and lox. It was fresh and delicious. They also served it deconstructed, so i could add as little or as much as i wanted. That was a nice touch. As a last minute decision, i tried their bacon, cheese biscuit. This is a real show stopper. I didn't realize that was much of a thing here in Memphis, but make sure you write that down. They don't serve mimosas here, but brunch is 10x more fun if you bring your own bottles from brown jug down the street and go for it. The waiting staff was super friendly. My daughter and I had the BLT&A with side of fries (the seasoning on the fries rocked it's like garlic parmessan something flavored) and two eggs over easy, with sausage patties, potato hash (combo of russet potatoes and sweet) and fluffy biscuits. The food overall was great as well as the service. All the breads are made there in house. Cool special menu in the other dining area. Who knew Elvis once played in the same building upstairs!! The food was fine and the environment was fun....but... don't put things on the menu that you don't sell. If it's one or two things... sure. But it was a lot of the items ... of those they did sell they were out of a lot of items including (somehow) a peanut butter and jelly. Haven't had a dining experience this poor in a long time. The food took 45 min to arrive. I wish I could say it was worth the wait. The salmon on a salad was medium rare, eggs benedict were so undercooked the other food on the plate was swimming in raw egg white, hash browns were crunchy and some tasted burnt. Basically left half of our food uneaten because we were definitely not going to wait another 45 min. Now, to the service. It took them 40 min to realize they were out of pancake mix and couldn't make the pancakes we ordered. When questioned, why it took them so long to figure it out (and at this point it's clear that any substitute order will take another 40 min to prepare and the wait is getting increasingly frustrating), the waiter accused us of being rude. Heard the same waiter tell the table next to us the food should be coming "eventually". Needless to say, we're not coming back and don't recommend it to anyone who values good food or good service. read more

I love at one of their boards and ordered their "Karamel Sutra" because it stuck out to me with the spelling and because I love anything caramel.
