After enjoying the catacombs we decided to have lunch at Cafe Du Rendez-vous for lunch. It was right across the street and we saw a lot of people enjoying a meal there. They were quite busy so we had to wait to get seated and we sat outside. Got a cup of coffee and also an alcoholic drink with whiskey. Friends decided to try their mixed drink which they said were pretty nice and strong. We ordered a cheese plate to share and the number of cheese slices was quite large it also came with a small side salad on the same plate. Ordered a duck toast with slices of duck on top of it. That was quite interesting! Ordered a fish, seafood ceviche, and a meat dish. I had the fish which was just steamed and the spinach with mushrooms tasted delicious! But if you just want soup you must order the French onion soup! The cheese on top is nicely burnt and tasty!!! While all the food in Paris is delicious, this is by far THE BEST meal we had the entire time. We came in and sat down at a table. Our French is very minimal but the server let us converse and order in their beautiful language. We had the seafood pasta, ratatouille burger, along with an espresso and cappuccino. My family and I stopped in Cafe du Rendez-Vous, at my daughter's insistence, and we are glad we did. Our first experience was FANTASTIC! Our server, Bubaca, was professional and extremely attentive. My daughter and I absolutely LOVED the escargot in parsley butter (truth be told, it is by far the BEST escargot I've had while in Paris), and our main dishes were EXCELLENT. My steak was cooked perfectly, and my wife and daughter thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. The drinks were made well and all had the right amount of alcohol. Our second visit was just as good, and the service continued to be as good as it was the first time. The restaurant has a GREAT atmosphere and the prices are reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. If you come to Paris, make sure to visit Cafe du Rendez-Vous! read more

Delicious food and excellent service what more do you need? We walked in here after visiting the catacombs. We were greeted in French and given a French menu when we walked in so assumed they didn't speak English. Since neither me or my husband speak French we turned to google translate to help us with the menu and helping us order. When our waitress realized she quickly switched to English (which she spoke really well). We had no issues though finding what we liked off the French menu. My husband ordered the duck and I ordered the pork. Both were delicious and the portions were huge. We also shared a creme brûlée for dessert which was amazing. We were never rushed here at any point. I loved that they had outdoor seating too but since it's a pretty busy area we chose to sit inside. After being turned away at the Catacombs for being too late (sigh...) we decided to drown our sorrows in some wine and cheese at Café du Rendez-Vous. A lot of foot traffic in this area makes this a great spot for people watching, so we decided to take a seat outside. My friends and I ordered a few glasses of wine, a cheese plate, and a dish I wish I could remember the name of. It had goat cheese and cherry tomatoes topped on a slice of bread. This was INCREDIBLE! The goat cheese was creamy and warm and the whole dish was delectable. The goat cheese dish also came with a side of french fries and a side salad, highly recommend. The cheese plate was also delicious, but surprisingly the bread stole the show. We ended up finishing two baskets of this bread, which was still warm from the oven. Overall this place may be a tourist trap, but consider me trapped. I would 100% visit again and would recommend anyone to stop in. read more

Came here on New Year's Day for lunch because everything else in the area was closed. Service here is painfully slow, even by French standards, and it takes forever to get the waitstaff's attention. A great place for brunch and for enjoying this vibrant area of Montparnasse. I got the brioche French toast, which came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and was délicieux. What an amazing place in Paris! The breads were delicious and come with butter, preserve and Nutella. The butter was insanely good. It wasn't super heavy like the butter you get here in the states. Also had a cappuccino and some orange juice both were good but the bread just blew everything else out of the park :) I went around 730am and the kitchen wasn't open yet so I wasn't able to get a full breakfast guess I'll have to go back next time :D read more

Anyway, we loved this restaurant. Had something for everyone, even our picky 10 year-old. Most dishes were different than all the other bistro/cafe/insert-French-term. We especially liked the chicken with coconut rice...traditional French dishes like tartar (beef, and salmon), onion soup, etc. were great too. I'm not sure what the other poster was talking about with the mice...we found them to be very friendly and they generally kept to themselves. P.S. - desert just arrived...coffee creme brûlée. MICE! Came here last night to enjoy a nice dinner. Food was great, but half way through eating, we spotted a mouse. Then, another one. 3 mice were running around the establishment. After calling the waiter and explaining, they looked at us like we were crazy and said "because we are near the catacombs" and to "be thankful they are not rats". Absolutely horrible service. Management did not do anything or even compensate the bill when we asked for something to be taken off and we paid full price. While waiting for the Catacombs to open we had breakfast here. It's a cute little cafe in the corner. We sat outside people watching. I ordered the big breakfast which comes with a basket of different breads, eggs, bacon, yogurt, orange juice, and your choice of hot beverage. I got a cappuccino which was very good and mellow, not too strong. The eggs are served sunny side up and you get three. The bacon is really good and not salty. Breakfast was 13€ and very fulfilling. It is so nice and warm in here with a wonderful welcoming atmosphere. Tables are full and people are eating merrily away. There are groups and solo diners. The onion soup was divine. It comes with bread on the side. A healthy helping of grilled cheese, below of which is some bread and then your soup, in an "out-of -the -oven" dish. Service is friendly. I asked about wines and was guided and provided with tasters. A litre of water at the table and a plug to charge my phone. Been there many times. The food has been excellent both times. Service is good, we ordered the salmon plancha over wok veggies and beer. Salmon came out moist and perfect as were the veggies. I went there with a couple of friends who were hungry, but they weren't serving food anymore. So my friends grabbed a couple of burgers from the McDonald's across the street and we asked if we could sit on the terrasse and enjoy some drinks. But when we made that request the manager treated us like scum and yelled at us that we couldn't bring outside food. I asked what difference it made since they had stopped serving food anyway and we were going to buy drinks, but he just kept being super antagonistic. So I said we would just leave, but I guess he thought we were going to go sit outside anyway, so he explicitly called out to his waiters to ask them not to serve us. Terrible service! Stay away. The food is about 2-3 stars. Extremely average but the service is terrible! Our waiter forgot our order and asked for it about 30 minutes later, so we had to wait over an hour to be served. While we were eating a manager comforted a crying waitress right outside the window where we were eating. Great ambiance. To top things off, the manager was confused about our dessert order and brought us three desserts instead of one. When we said it was a mistake, she rolled her eyes at us dramatically and we saw her complaining in the kitchen. The dessert- the terrine de pain perdu was cold and rubbery. I like the idea of this café, with its high quality Sunday brunch and terrace under red awning, close to the bustle of Denfert Rochereau. The food was excellent, with lots to choose from, but it took forever to arrive because the poor waiter was overloaded with orders. And the restaurant policies were incredibly inflexible. We came in a large group, and would have loved to have ordered different parts of the brunch, but were denied and told that there was a strict "no sharing" policy. It was a shame, really, as each brunch came with a massive bread basket and accoutrements that no one person could possibly finish. Some of us would have liked to have eaten just scrambled eggs with bread from said basket, but, again, we could not order dishes separately. The eggs were tasty, the smoked salmon plate fresh, and the cheese and charcuterie board small but filling. The dessert (yes, there was dessert, too) was also scrumptious: apple compote, a warm and sugary apple pastry dessert (a cross between a cupcake, brioche and slice of apple pie) and a little pot of plain yogurt. Maybe this place is best visited early on in the day, before it gets crowded. Top it off with a stroll down rue Daguerre and you've got yourself a fine Sunday morning! read more

Although a Frenchman would never have eggs for breakfast, DRV understands that tourists will be hungry and so besides the standard Parisian breakfast of bread, pastries and coffee there is an option that includes eggs with bacon as well.
