Cafe Diglas came up in one of my searches for a must visit breakfast spot in Vienna. I ordered an omelette and cappucino. My cappucino was very good, but my omelette was extra cheesy and needed salt and pepper. I liked the ambiance and decor. Service was great.

Potato salad in picture was as wonderful as the schnitzel!!!

Fantastic food, beer and great service, enjoyed ambience and no rush from staff, like most places in Vienna.

Cafe Diglas has been around since 1875. I had heard that this was the place to go to experience the Viennese coffee culture. I had hoped to try some of their pastries, but when I arrived in the morning they weren't ready. I settled on their quick breakfast, which consisted of a croissant and coffee. Quick Breakfast (7 euros) - The croissant wasn't very crispy or flaky and just tasted ok. The Viennese coffee that was served consisted of a small espresso served in a large cup with half steamed milk, topped off with milk froth. Having had coffee in Italy the last few days I wasn't impressed with Viennese coffee in any of the cafes that I tried. Overall I thought the quick breakfast was just ok and I would pass on this place. They did do a good job in keeping the decor and furnishings from the 19th century.

Lovely , quaint cafe . Cute decor . Went there for breakfast. Cafe is expensive ( as expected) but the service is very good . This one was listed as one of the oldest cafes nearby on our Airbnb food recommendation, so decided to give it a try . Didn't disappoint. Washrooms are pretty modern for the old charm cafe . Give it a try , won't regret.

If I had seen this place before I had dinner at the other place I would have stopped here. At least I got to enjoy dessert. Warm summer night, apricot dumplings, chocolate crepes. What's not to like. It was pleasant to sit on the sidewalk and enjoy the evening and some sweets.

Randomly found this place while walking along the streets of Vienna near our hotel. Food was delicious (small portion) and probably over priced. Service was a little slow and our server doesn't seem very friendly. I would pass.

Variety of meal selections daily. Classic meals like schnitzel. Food was served fast despite being so busy. I felt the prices were rather steep. All in all an average experience.

A classic styled cafe with a homey and easy going feel to it. Nothing like I've ever experienced in the US! You can observe locals in small groups or by themselves chatting quietly and reading the newspaper. Our waiter was extremely welcoming and accommodating. We ordered a few Viennese breakfasts that came with coffee ( with steamed milk), a roll with cold butter and apricot marmalade, and croissant. It was simple but laid out very nicely on a silver tray and was a substantial breakfast. The croissant is unlike the French croissants; it was less flaky and more dense, but very tender. Coffee was delicious. This was a very pleasant breakfast experience.

I had a very nice experience at Café Diglas. I stopped by for a quick spritzer and a traditional Vienna style Soufflé which was delicious but huge.

Their daily specials are so creative!

This is a great combination of authentically classic Vienese coffee house dining and creative approaches to traditional cuisine. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is superb! And the food is delicious. To me, the atmosphere is the best part. They often have live piano music which gives the place a 19 century feel. The lighting is also subtle and invokes a bygone age. The interior has little humorous accents like the kitchen utensils hanging from the chandelier or the cushion covers made to look like bags of wheat, pepper, etc. They serve very traditional Viennese dishes like creamed spinach with a fried egg and rösti potatoes or Blunzenmedallions (blood sausage). They also have very innovative daily specials like the red beet apple cream soup with ginger I had which was a dream! The food is a bit pricey. But it's the kind of pricey where you feel you really got something extra for that extra bit of cash. But no worries! If you're on a budget you can just come for a coffee or a glass of wine and soak up the atmosphere for a fraction of the cost of dinner. Actually, I might go back often just for more of that soup!

Lovely place to sit down and have a coffee and a slice of cake or something more substantial. Very cosy inside. Beware though, no credit cards are accepted so make sure you go in with enough cash! The cakes are all home made and taste like it, very very very nice!

This was the first place I ever dared enter by myself before I spoke German. And it is the place where I saw, and I'll never forget, the older woman who had Apfelstrudel for lunch--and then Topfenstrudel for dessert, at the same meal. I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. Recently we went back and I had a lovely cream of pumpkin soup. The dessert display is incredible. Homemade with love, I think. I like to think that anyway.

The service in this place is horrible. Two people are serving an entire restaurant. The prices are outrageous for the food and the quality. Obviously there is Wi Fi at the restaurant named DiglGesh ... However they would let even their own patrons to use it. Way to go.

Had desserts, an apple cake and a cheese strudel, after a concert in the cathedral. Delicious!

I absolutely love their pumpkin soup. It can be a bit crowded but worth it. Tons of desserts to pick from.

Like Demel, Cafe Central is a MUST visit when you go to Vienna, where the coffee houses are a sight to behold on their own. Yes, the wait is quite long. Every time I pass by, there's a line, but it actually goes rather quickly and if you can find something to do to pass the time, it's like nothing at all. First off, the interior is STRIKING, a work of art in its own right with marble columns, stylish looking cafe tables, and paintings every where you go. Apparently Sigmund Freud has been a frequent patron here. Even if you were to get nothing at all, just the experience of sitting here is worth your eyes absorbing. But, oh!--the cakes--and the coffees! I had me an iced coffee that had a great body mixed with a delicate flavor to give me a jolt through the day. The hazelnut cake was airy and fluffy, not at all too sweet like American desserts have a tendency to be! The staff here move efficiently, and I love how there's no pressure to hurry up and pay your bill or make your order. A repeat place to be sure if I were to go back to Vienna. My twin and I went on Sept '25 for our vacation.

The line moved pretty quickly, though, and I waited about 30 minutes. The interior is stunning. I was completely enamored with the architecture and the structure of the building. I was not overly hungry, but I wanted to try the goulash and the apple strudel. Get the strudel with the sauce. 10/10. Amazing. I would absolutely do it again.
