Adorable little cafe near the very busy puerta del sol. Came here for a bite in the afternoon and found others reading or relaxing in the cafe. No laptops allowed though! We had some tostas and coffee and delicious fresh squeezed orange juice. The salmon tosta was a bit underwhelming, just a bad cut of salmon that wasn't super fresh it seemed. But other than that it was great, would recommend as a cozy getaway from the busy city center!

Toast with Arugula, Queso de Cabra, and Fig Jam.

Food was very cheap! The place was super cute and quaint. I really enjoyed the toast with queso de cabra, arugula, and fig jam!

I really enjoyed this cafe! Good coffee, food, and environment. The service was great. I got the jamón tostas and I really enjoyed it as well. Good selection and not too busy!

This café was so much fun! I came with my friends to hangout and get some drinks. I just had a smoothie, but it was VERY refreshing. My friends had tea, coffee, and cider, which they were all content with. As for the vibe, I really like the atmosphere of this café! They play fun music and have aesthetic seating and decor. It's a bit loud in the restaurant but I think that's just part of the vibe!

Came here to grab some food while waiting for our airbnb checkin time. The cafe is very intimate and cozy. They also had free WiFi which was really convenient! I got the cappuccino with oat milk, was very happy that they had the oat milk option. Boyfriend thought his coffee was just alright though. We also got the meat with tomato sauce on toast and a Mediterranean croissant sandwich, they were both really good and reasonably priced.

This cute little cafe had lots of comfy couches to sit on. It seems like a quiet place to get a drink or work on things; however, if you go on the weekend, it might not be as quiet as it normally is. What I ordered: I got the goat cheese salad and a cafe con leche. The salad was great, but there was nothing original about it. The coffee was good and what I expected it to be like. They had a fairly large menu with many food and drink options (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Not my new favorite place, but still a nice, cozy spot!

Hidden gem in the middle of hustle and bustle in Madrid. Chic design, cozy and comfy. Great food and drinks. We had the mini brunch. Very good price. We had a wonderful and welcoming server name Blanca, along with her co-workers. Ambience was excellent. Definitely visit again. Thank you for your hospitality

By far one of my favorite breakfast experiences in Spain. Let me just throw it out there that is is probably my favorite breakfast experience in Europe. My husband and i did a lot of research before we arrived upon our conclusion to have breakfast here. The location was about a 10-15 min walk from our hotel so we were excited to try something local and small during our stay in Madrid. If you don't look quickly or closely enough, you could easily walk by this fine establishment. When inside, we were quickly seated at a small pub table booth near the window. My husband and I both ordered the ham and cheese croissant breakfast sandwich. We also ordered two coffees with milk. I ordered an orange juice and my husband ordered a bloody mary which he thought was fantastic. Our breakfast was simplistic but amazing. We never felt rushed and we enjoyed the chill atmosphere. The server was pleasant and attentive. The bathrooms are downstairs so make sure you know that you will have to climb up and down the stairs to get to the restroom. Overall, a great experience and a wonderful breakfast. I have absolutely no complaints. Only that we didn't come here more than once!

Awesome spot. Small and quaint. Jazz playing on the back and lits of natural light if you are planning to do some work. Cafe con leche was very good and the toast and mermalade warm and ready. Service was average. Overall super recommended.

I had a lomito sandwich and it was THE BEST SANDWICH I've ever had. EVER. The service was great and the place is very cozy. My friend and I enjoyed being there and our meal was delicious. Great place to stop by!

Nice place at the corner of street. I like the salmon toast very much! The burritos are small and look cute, kinda like the idea it's toasted in the oven makes the skin taste good. At last, we shared one slice of chocolate cake, amazing!

Great place for breakfast or brunch Nice ambiance and cool setting Coffee and cappuccinos are really good, and the orange juice was really fresh The arugula goat cheese and jam over olive oil on toast was absolutely delicious

I waited 10 minutes and no one came to my table. It wasn't that busy. We just left and went somewhere else.

Chocolatería San Ginés - Truffles

A pair of classics in their respective cities (2 of 2)…read more - - - - - I'm not surprised there are a lot of reviews. Then, I've had this bookmarked for an eternity based on the reviews of a Yelp friend (acquaintance) from the Yelp Talk chapter who did quite a bit of traveling. I had seen Chocolateria San Gines before but did not go in. I don't know why. This time, I did go in. They have two salons across the street from each other. I prefer the one on the east side of the street, which has the taller ceilings and more glass and mirrors. There will be a line around the side, but it will move quickly. I knew they had chocolate based on their name, but I didn't understand how they factored it into the equation. I sort of assumed that one could get chocolate churros. After all, there are now chocolate cannoli shells and, in some cases, cannoli can also have chocolate filling. The lady at the counter very quickly gave me an education. One gets the standard churros, but they come with a chocolate sauce that you dip them into. This all made for an interesting snack. This is not a place intended for a meal. The churro have a nice bland sort of crunchiness and the chocolate sauce is one heck of a counterpoint. The combination is great. I also had a hot drink. Upon asking, they immediately provided me with a small glass of cold water - seen at many adjacent tables - probably to counter the effects of the richness of this snack. Be it at the counter or at the table, the staff was very well mannered and helpful, which was commendable for how busy they were. The interior is very clean and has a lot of history on its wall. The pricing was to my liking, so coming to Chocolateria San Gines is a "no brainer." Everything is there and the intersection of its history and visitors from the world over take this one to 5 stars. A friend of mine who once lived in Madrid laughed upon learning it was on my list. I mentioned I had already been to Mallorquina, which is a few blocks away on Plaza del Sol. The story was that Mallorquina is where Madrid's version of chatty magpies might go to do the dessert and coffee thing with their friends in the afternoon. It closes in the evening. Instead, Chocolateria San Gines is open all the time and might be the last stop of the evening or night before Madrilenos turn in from a night on the town. It is also very easy to reach, only a few blocks from either the Sol or Opera Metro stations, from which you can also take in fascinating nearby Plaza Mayor.

The churros here are a must try in Madrid, Spain…read more The chocolate sauce is divine and great for dipping the churros. There's a dining area to sit inside and outside. The service is relatively quick. The churros are crispy and not oily. If you're in Madrid go here!
