It fit us just fine. The place has tons of character. A young lady took our order but didn't understand a couple things and the timing and ordering of our food wad screwed up. When the manager realized our friend was sitting there with a salad while the rest of us were waiting for our food, he told the kitchen to fire our plates. We had a burger and scallops coming. At least our friend's food wasn't going to get cold. When our food arrived, mine was baked chicken. I ordered what said 'scallops' in their English menu. The manager came over and explained that there was a misprint on the English line of the menu and they haven't had it fixed and the waitress didn't know but he promised the chicken was good. We were pressed for time at this point. We had plenty of time when we arrived but since the waitress was waiting for us to eat my friend's salad as an appetizer before telling the kitchen make our food, the time was burned by the time our food finally arrived. The worst part was they don't do take away in Amsterdam, apparently. I had to admit it smelled divine. I shook the manager's hand and thanked him before I dug in. This is probably the best chicken dish I've ever had. Seriously. It was so perfect. Juicy, perfectly cooked, crispy skin, and flavor throughout. The Pommes friets were perfect too. It was awful that I didn't have more time to properly enjoy the whole dish and get my fill but we had to run to catch a boat for a canal tour. Highly recommended to give them a try.

A very warm and romantic eatery with just the right lighting and ambience that fits the city. The menu was great. We started with the Beetroot salad with goat cheese and apple. The food was wonderful, I had the steak tartare which is one of my favorite dishes, however, unfortunately I had my fair share of bad steak tartares so I was a bit hesitant and almost picked a "safer option". However, their Steak Tartare was amazing, it was done just right. The side salad it came with was by the way HUGE... it looked like a separate dish. But the real reason this place stole my heart is definitely the atmosphere, the owner is a real gem: he is chatty and friendly but certainly not pushy. Even though I am not that familiar with Amsterdam, this place really feels like home. For an authentic experience in Amsterdam, head to De Fles. I wish there were more places like this in Amsterdam or even in the world. Honestly, I cannot recommend De Fles enough.
