The winery is operated by Dr. Bobby Smith, who's personal charm shines through the wines he produces. He has actually been making wines in Texas since 1978, and his history with the industry locally has helped shape it to where it is today. "Dr. Bobby" also crafts cheeses there in a room adjacent to the wine tasting room. The garlic cheddar was very good. Trust me, a trip to Springtown is not a waste of time. She answered all our questions and educated my friend on the different types of wine because she was a beginner wine drinker. We also learned that all the wines they serve are Lost Oak's. Even though we got there at 7:20 and they closed at 8pm she didn't rush us and took her time serving us. My friend got a white wine and I got the cabernet franc. We both enjoyed them. That's when we noticed their tasting room tucked away on the side street. Later, we visited The People's Choice Tasting and tried all of their wine options -- they easily ranked in our Top 3! Afterward, our group went back to their tasting room, which is nicely designed and has a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, this time the sangria was served warm. We asked for ice and had to ask twice before getting it, which was a little disappointing. If that hadn't happened, I would have given them 5 stars. I definitely want to visit again when things aren't quite as busy and get the full tasting-room experience.

Our wives loved the Moscato called Sweet Freedom -- it was a big hit. The husbands did the premium tasting, and honestly, every wine we tried was excellent. A friend ordered a type of cheese that they didn't have, which was a little surprising since it seemed like a pretty common option. What really stood out to me was how nice the owners were. Two people in our group accidentally spilled wine, and they came over to help clean it up right away. They also offered to take our group picture and kept checking if we wanted another shot until we got the perfect one. I thought that was such a sweet gesture! Overall, Soma Winery seems like a great place to host a larger event or get together with friends for some wine and activities.
