Weili Su does the best bow rehairs in town! Nice prices too. It is the quality job a professional musician would desire, but isn't cost prohibitive so I can send my students to Cadenza for rehairs/repairs as well. I've always been impressed with the quality of repairs and service I've received at Cadenza. Cadenza has WONDERFUL rental instruments and they are cheaper than other stores in town. Honestly, I don't know how he does it. Many stores send out crummy, low end clones that are in dire need of repair. Cadenza's bottom end rentals are easy to play, get a lovely sound (for what they are), and are always in good shape before being sent out. Quality rentals mean students have a better beginner musical experience. Playability of the student's first instrument can be the difference between sticking with it and being inspired vs. frustration and wanting to quit. I have also been impressed with the step up instruments offered at Cadenza. There are several different levels of instruments to purchase and the prices are incredibly fair. They also apply rental fees as equity toward the purchase of an instrument. The feature that impresses me most is the fact that you can upgrade again and receive the FULL amount originally paid in the prior step up instrument. That means the customer loses NOTHING when they upgrade a second time. Many stores push parents to initially spend more because they do not give full value on trade ins. Most middle school musicians do not need a $10,000 instrument yet. This gives parents and students a chance to wade into the investment instead of diving in unnecessarily. Cadenza also offers a small selection of supplies and music. It is bare bones, so unless one needs the essentials, you might be better off elsewhere for accouterments. read more

Their repair, rehair, etc. craftsmanship is hard to beat, and they don't overcharge at all for great quality. Be careful. I rented 2 cellos over a multi-year period. Then after spending thousands of dollars in "rent to own" I was given a very cheap cello at the end. Weeks later(despite having a clear printed $0 invoice) the owner came back and wanted me to pay additional funds for the one I had earned outright. Despite multiple attempts asking the owner to please quit harrassing me, he then reported me to a credit agency despite the obvious paper trail; he was hoping we would pay a few hundred additional dollars we didnt owe, simply to make the credit agency go away. I am not alone, that is is why the website (http://www.cadenzaviolins.net/) doesn't display a BBB logo for approval. Note: the business is very difficult to communicate clearly with via the phone due to language difficulties. read more

By far the most reasonable pricing I've seen for rehairing and restoration ($42 for rehair, $45 to recut a new bridge). I remember rehairing a bow cost $27 when I graduated from high school and within a year during freshman year of college, almost all luthiers charged $55. You won't be disappointed with their work. I can only hope they remain in town and in business as virtually all the conventional music stores (Williamson's, Brook Mays) are closing down left and right. read more

I just had a wonderful visit to the shop! My son has a student level cello. The A-string kept going flat. The young gentleman at the shop showed me how to wind the string so it wouldn't add tension to the peg. It worked instantly. I was amazed! And he didn't ask for any service fee. I was speechless. We use Cadenza for instrument repair and rehairing. They have a nice selection of instruments and do fast work. We can get a bow rehaired in one day, for around $48. It is convenient and the work is solid. We should be rehairing every 6 months, but we can make it to nearly a year before the bow starts shedding like a Maine Coon cat :) Conveniently located behind Sprouts, by Gus' and Great Clips. No need to go anywhere else to get your stringed instrument items, they have it all. read more

My daughter, Joanna Calhoun, just won the 2016 Louisiana State Fiddle Championship with a Cadenza violin! We have purchased 3 different sized violins from Cadenza as she has grown over the years and as her skill set has improved. Mr. Su listened to exactly what we needed and sent us at least 2 violins and 2 bows to chose from. The quality and intonation of each violin has been amazing.
