The service, food, and atmosphere were outstanding! We stopped by last Friday night and were very pleasantly surprised!! We had stuffed tater puffs, a bacon cheeseburger with curly fries, fingersteaks with onion rings, and Chocolate Mosaic Cake. Soooooo delicious! The curly fries are on a different level and the tater puffs were SO good too. They also have Shock Top in a bottle which always makes me happy! 2.5 stars. I am surprised by all the rave reviews and was disappointed on my wife's birthday with unreasonably inflated expectations from those reviews. Firstly, nobody seemed eager to feed us. You seat yourselves...several waiters saw us sit down at an un un-bussed table yet nobody acknowledged us for 15 minutes so we moved tables. It took another ten minutes to get menus and be greeted. If you don't care if I'm there, why should I? Smoked chicken wings...what smoke? Garlic parm seasoning? They must've run out as they had zero flavor. No joke the drums were as small in size and girth as my pinky finger...seriously the size of quail. They were so desiccated that we appreciated there wasn't more of it. Lemon pepper chicken was also bland and dry so we ended up taking it home for the dog who doesn't mind jerky. The reuben could have been successful, but the corned beef is improperly cooked and the fat isn't rendered so instead you have to gnaw at a sandwich making me look like a hyena trying to consume a Zebra carcass just to get through the gristle and swallow a bite. A sandwich people! Mashed potatoes...bland. Zuppa....bland. Does the cook have Covid or just not taste the food? Womp, womp, womp....cue the tiny violins, this place is sad. This place is excellent!!!! Passing through and my daughter and I were a tad bit hungry, so we read the reviews and thought we would give this place a try. Atmosphere was very warm and floors were clean. My first stop was to check out the restrooms Reason for this..... if a restaurant keeps a clean restroom, Its a guarantee they keep a clean kitchen. I asked the waitress if they had any vegetarian options besides a salad, she said she would ask. Minutes later Tiffany the chef came out and sat down beside me and asked if I liked all vegetables and pasta. I said," I did, and surprise me with something." This is what she made and it was delicious!!! It should be part of their menu. I can't thank them enough for how kind and attentive they were. read more

Food was ok. What surprised me when I got the bill was a $2.00 charge for chicken in the taco salad, then a $1.00 charge for debit card. Then there is no senior or veterans discounts to boot. Seems like it's a one sided in favor of the merchant. Which is fine but we will take our business elsewhere. Can't afford a 10% up charge just to dine there. read more

A friend of mine has been bugging me for awhile to give this place a try. So I reluctantly agreed and drove from Jerome to Kimberly to appease him. I AM GLAD I DID! This place has a great atmosphere, super friendly staff, and the food is top notch! We both ordered the special which was prime rib. We both ordered it medium and to our surprise it came out at the perfect temp! The food was super delicious and we both cleaned our plates! WE WILL BE MAKING THIS PLACE A REGULAR DESTINATION! We are new to the area and stumbled across this place on a Friday evening. My husband had already eaten so he just ordered dessert and I ordered a meal. I ordered the steak, with a soup, salad (which I saw was an additional $2.99 with my meal) and a loaded baked potato. My plate came out and the "loaded baked potato did not have cheese or bacon so I asked the waitress and she said it would be an additional $1.50 for cheese and $1.50 for bacon. I said okay and received a small side of cheese and small side of bacon fat. I'm not a fan of chewy bacon so I told the waitress that I did not like the bacon she said okay sorry. I got my ticket and I was still charged for the bacon and charged $4.99 for the side salad with my meal instead of $2.99. The waitress called the manager and she said I was being charged $4.99 because I had a soup with my meal and added a salad as my husband's meal. I corrected her and told her it was not for my husband I was the one who ordered it with my meal and she said it would still be $4.99 because I had already ordered a soup with my meal. I then asked her had I not ordered a soup would I have been charged the $2.99 salad with a meal charge and she said no. So I was trying to make sense of why they were charging me for the full price and her response was still no, "I'll just bring it down to the $2.99 & take off the bacon". So overall experience was weird, food was okay but I don't quite understand the logic behind how their pricing is. Paying $3 extra for a loaded baked potato seems a bit extreme as well as $4.99 for a side salad that is basic and just has lettuce, tomatoes and croutons. read more

I guess you can't expect anything from a place in Kimberly, but I did. And.......I was sorely disappointed. Sub-par everything. Service was slow and very unorganized. The burger and fish n chips were both blah. The server messed up two orders, and the owner acted like we had insulted his wife when we asked to fix them. Great little find as we were passing through on our way home from jackpot. I got the chicken salad croissant which was delicious. Just the right blend of chicken and mayo with some celery and onions. No fruit or nuts which to me is wrong so I was happy to see it this way. I got the chicken and corn chowder as a side and it was great. The corn was roasted and added a perfect sweetness to the savory soup. My wife got the bltao (bacon,lettuce,tomato,avocado,onion) wrap which was good too. Although she liked mine better which always seems to be how it ends up. She got the Mac and cheese as her side. It was great too. The staff was friendly and prompt. We ordered prime rib and chicken strips. Gross chicken strips with more breading than chicken. Prime rib for $28.99 was a complete joke. It looked and tasted like an old cheap steak. Was not even close to melt in your mouth like we were told. We have eaten here before and had better. This will be the last time. Picked up the food To go to eat at home. My tiny baked potato looked like it was only half cooked and tasted the same. Went back to talk and show the owner. He didn't even apologize at all. I showed him my prime rib, he gave me my $30 back after I asked for it and just walked away saying nothing. We will not go back!! Just left Cactus Grill without sampling the food! I was taking my elderly mother out to dinner, and had heard good things about this place. We walked in followed by another couple. A server greeted the other couple and brought menus, at which point the gentleman of the couple pointed and told the server that we had come in first. The server replied "That's okay someone will help them!" I understand that servers have assigned sections, but a nod, smile and verbal acknowledgement would have helped make things better. We left without eating. My mother had come from dialysis and needed to eat in a timely manner. Disgusting! read more

The Cactus Grill moved from the Lowe's store front to a new building on Kimberly Rd. After my third trip to the new establishment on Kimberly I decided I've taken in enough to write a competent review. First off I HAVE TO comment on the layout of the restaurant. It seems to have been set up as one of those walk-in-pay-at-register-go-back-to-your-table-wait-for-order type of places. But it's a full fledged, waiter-service deli/very small "restaurant". For about 12 bucks one can get a big philly steak sandwich, tots, and a large drink. Not a bad value. Lots of meat and veggies on said sandwich. I got jalapenos added for an extra buck. The sandwich came out hot and steamy with melted cheese on my sliced steak. Presentation was outright mouthwatering. But the initial moment of bliss is tampered a bit by the sliced steak. The steak, though hot and covered with cheese, didn't hold much flavor. Certainly nothing that could be considered "signature". Bummer because the place has the potential to be one of those small eateries with a line out the door kind of places. Nevertheless, it's still worthy of a visit if you haven't been there. The food comes out hot and decent tasting. You'll leave there full, but if you're not from the Magic Valley you probably won't remember the place in three days. One more thing: how do they justify 8.99 for a rather large steak sandwich and 8.99 for a chef salad??? read more

What an awesome find in the middle of seemingly nowhere! The food is fresh and delicious and the restaurant is immaculate. Our server, Debbie was the nicest person we have met in Idaho. I had the chicken salad sandwich on croissant which was very fresh and tasty. I tasted hubbie's hot ham and cheese too which was made with fresh ham, not cold cuts. It was so good. Server had no clue about any of the beer or alcohol served, didn't understand what a tap, draft or draw of beer was. Didn't offer waters. We ordered and waited almost an hour and finally had to ask if there was a problem with our food. Our ticket got lost. It took over an hour for prime rib that was already cooked, and fried beer battered fish with tots. The manager came out and was really rude and defensive. He ended the conversation by saying, "This is how it is here all of the time. If you don't like it, you don't have to come back." We won't ever be going back to that place. read more
