Best Mexican restaurant I can find in the Lehigh Valley. 11am - 3:30PM lunch specials are fantastic. Lunch portions rival dinner portions, all priced under $10 with tax, great chips and salsa, and FAST service. The staff is very friendly, which is a plus. They gave me a chicken burrito instead of beef by mistake once and not only did they have the proper burrito to me within five minutes, they let me keep the other one. Also, it's BYOB! This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant to date....although it's also the most expensive one I've ever eaten at. Everything is homemade and fresh with quality ingredients. Their salsa and guacamole is outstanding. Probably the best jalapeno poppers I have ever eaten. I got the combo meat fajitas (shrimp and steak) and they were awesome. Even the rice is great and perfectly cooked. The service was also top notch. I will certainly enjoy coming back here again. Remember though, this is a BYOB establishment and plan on paying around $65 for a dinner for 2. All in all though... Winner winner Mexican dinner! read more

Getting harder and harder to find good tamales but this place delivered - I really liked them. Had a simple chicken Burrito Blue which was quite good. Service was great and pretty fast. The decor is not entirely authentic but nice. Getting in and out the parking lot requires a little maneuvering - it's kinda small. I think there's good value for the money. Delicious tacos, guacamole and quesadillas are on the menu here. For takeout or staying in the food tastes great and has a ton of flavor. The tacos are big and tasty and the baja fish ones are particularly flavorful. The quesadillas are awesome as well with a good mix of tortilla and inside. The chips and guac are incredible as well. I really couldn't stop eating the delicious fluffy homemade chips for way too long. There is no where else in the area with such good Mexican food. read more

Saturday night the restaurant was full, always a good sign, and folks seemed genuinely to be having a good time. Nice atmosphere. I ordered chiles rellenos because on the menu it was spelled wrong-- relleños, and because it's a favorite. But when I pointed it out to the server, she was baffled, as she obviously didn't know the difference between n and ñ! That started it. We then noticed the waitstaff, though friendly, included not a single hispanic. This is the place to go if you like your ethnic food without the presence of ethnics, jarring to us, as most of Bethlehem's ethnic restaurants, including Mexican, come with the ethnic presence, eager to share their culinary treasures, albeit with foreign accents. We would have forgiven, had the food measured up to its billing of authentic. It fell short. I asked for chorizo with my chiles. Only on the bill. The rice was stale, re-heated. And with Puerto Rican gandules! The beans tasted like Goya straight out of the can, and since when are black beans Mexican? We debated for dessert between flan and tres leches (3 milk) cake. The cake unfortunately won out, turning out to be a dry white cupcake, a tasteless island in a sea of milk blends, drizzled very artistically with a red sauce. The restaurant promised we would not leave hungry. Success, though my partner later complained of an upset stomach. Cactus Blue has a good rep, as evidenced by the constant need for reservations. First "authentic" mexican place we've tried and instantly LOVED the Chile Rellenos. My wife and I both order it every time we go.

Went here w/ kids on a Friday night. We were seated quick enough & were sat in corner near door, it was raining & a bit chilly out, thus whenever someone walked in U had a bit of a cold blast, this could easily be fixed w/ either a interior door or a curtain. No worries, we ordered food. I got the Pollo Tortilla soup - very good & steak something or other, this was good, but I think a bit overpriced @ $17. My kids had chix finger & beef taco & chix enchalada. They brought out two orders of fingers as the waitress screwed up the order. My daughter didn't like the enchalada either. Waitress was ok, nothing special. I will give them another try. read more

Got takeout here today since nothing else was open, and it was my first time here. Overrated and overpriced. And I live in New York. Nothing was seasoned very well; very bland food. They also tried to charge me 6 dollars for chips and salsa (not even salsa, just pico de gallo) without informing me that the meal comes with it. The tacos come with cheese, guac, and lettuce but there is no sauce, or at least it was not offered to me. I haven't walked out of a restaurant for poor service in over 10 years. This place takes the prize for worst service in a decade for me. Waited close to half hour for nothing more than water and below average free chips. The waitress said she would be right over, then walked past us over & over. Said something to manager and he said what do you want me to do. What I'll do is never step inside this place again. Do yourself a favor and use Yelp to find a better Mexican restaurant. We love Cactus Blue! Very vegetarian friendly and delicious Mexican dishes. We like to start off with a nice crispy tortilla bowl of guacamole, which is just perfect in my opinion. For entree, my husband loves the chicken masilla and I stick with the cheese enchilada or veggie burrito. We're never disappointed. I have a slight obsession with the black beans here and beg my husband for his share every time. Lately, they've been serving chocolate chip flan as a weekend special. It's so very delicious. It tastes a lot like a very moist cheesecake because this particular flan lacks the caramel, but you will not miss it one bit. Fantastic flan. Keep up the great work! read more

Been here a bunch of times for mostly business lunches because it is centrally located and near Muhlenburg Hospital which is nice for convenience. It has a very busy parking lot and the road is busy too so you have to careful coming in. The staff is very accommodating for groups and the service is very good attentive and polite. I found the quality of the food and variety of the choices very good and look forward to the meals very much. However, those used to southwest cooking or Philly cuisine would think 4 stars a bit much. With that proviso I recommend it without reservation. read more

I have loved coming to cactus blue for both lunch and dinner, and have tried almost everything on the menu at this point. It is a BYOB which is nice for dinner, as get togethers with friends involve bringing your favorite wines. The chimichanga, enchiladas, flautas, and burrito are all great. Service is solid, atmosphere allows you to really enjoy the place. I don't know if there is another mexican restaurant in the valley that can compete with this place, if there is, I certainly haven't found it yet. read more

Salsa and chips were good. There were 5 of us. Only one of us had anything positive to say about our meals. The Carne Asada wasn't very tender we sent it back. The service was friendly. The Pico De Gallo was good and fresh. That was the best part of my experience and the only reason this place gets two stars. I've given Cactus Blue 3 tries over the last few years and every time I've left feeling like I've wasted my money. I WANT to like this place. The ambiance is pleasant, but the food is awful. I ordered the Tampiqeno last night. The steak was so salty it was inedible. The cheese enchilada that came with it was missing the tortilla (I searched!) and was nothing more than a lump of melted cheese smothered by lukewarm rice. Very disappointed with this place. The first time we tried to eat here we waited over 15 minutes at the hostess stand without seeing a single employee in the entire restaurant. There were plenty of parties eating and lots of open tables, but not a single employee. The second time I decided to order take out instead of taking a gamble about being seated. The food took forever, much longer than they stated when we ordered. The food was so-so. And the prices were outrageous. I definitely will not be returning. read more

Delicious & authentic food!! I just had my daughter's college grad celebration in their private party space & it was an awesome time. Adam was very attentive throughout the planning process & set up/cooked an amazing buffet. Ana & Jackie were our party hosts and did an excellent job assuring that everyone was happy. I really like this restaurant. It's quaint and small, and the chips and salsa are great. The salsa has a real kick to it. The cheese quesadillas are really great and filling. The french fries are yummy. I've been to this place a few times and am never disappointed. read more

the best mexican i've had in the northeast! after many years of living in the city, and many years of many restauranteurs trying to convince me that dos caminos or rosa mexicano is mexican food, i've finally found a place that serves perfect chips, mind blowing salsa, and not overly fancy gourmet entrees. (don't get me wrong, dos has great guac and margaritas, and rosa's fancy dishes are fine...but it's not mexican food--at least not to a texi-californian ;). decor at cactus is kitschy but it wouldn't seem like a real mexican restaurant without it. read more

I went here for lunch and order the Burrito Caesar. The food was good and the service was good although we did go during the week at an off time. If you order this and don't like pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole, ask for it on the side or they will put it on top of your burrito. Very fresh tasting, real food. Not like a chain Mexican On the Border or Chi Chi's kind of place. We go there for lunch during the week with co-workers almost weekly and for dinner often. Cactus blue is a nice little Mexican spot. The food and atmosphere are very good. if you do decide to eat there, make sure you call for reservations or there is a good chance you wont be eating any time soon. the chips and salsa are free and the salsa is very fresh, (and hot). The portions are very generous and filling. my go to is the chicken enchiladas. its BYOB which is a plus in my book as well. my biggest knock is that the service is hit or miss. read more
