And yes, we ordered the same ingredients. I think the guy making them (it's usually a couple of very nice women) is skimping... Highlight: A super affordable large portioned Tex- Mex Americanized restaurant tucked in shopping mall that serves hot and fresh food in paper plates (tacos, burritos, quesadilla, bowls, etc). Prices: burritos are 6.75$ for ground meat and if you do fish or some other fancier cuts, it's 8.75$. Our picks show how MASSIVE the portions are. Cheap good eats- nothing fancy but definitely filling and yummy. How it works: you can choose your burrito/nacho/bowl etc. choose your rice (white or brown) and then your meat (They have everything- fish, chicken, pork, carnitas, asada). Then there's like 20 toppings you can choose from (lettuce, ranch, tomatoes, cilantro, peppers, pico gallo, cheese, corn, vinegrette, etc)- all included in the price. We ordered: fish burrito bowl and the chicken burrito bowl- see pics. Fish was fried fish stick- like, not your Baja fish but still a delicious combo. Chicken was shredded chicken breast- not the chunks. Overall: not the fanciest food and not super authentic but definitely delicious, value worthy, and fast. I highly recommend coming here if you want all 3. I think the cilantro could be chopping smaller to mix better with the rice- but if you like toppings cut larger, then that this place's style. I go to Don Juan for the food , I enjoy Taco's and Burritos and everything in between , and places like Don Juan , separate themselves from sit down restaurants and fast food. A , because it's not fast food it's good ingredients, B it's a family run business and these businesses know our communities and contribute better than a larger Chain ever would. Despite the glaringly obvious that Don Juan is delicious , I think slimming down the various types of ingredients that customers can choose from would help, you can easily do this by tracking what add on ones are selected the most and go from there , same with side dishes or even less popular shushes and go from there. read more

This location, as the other three locations does not accept phone calls. They all have the same phone number. They force you to place your order online - which is fine, except what if you have a question??? We got a $50 gift card and after choosing our food the website said our gift card was invalid. It was not invalid. Complete waste of time. But the experience got worse! Way! After emailing back and forth (the only way to communicate with the place), they said their system is not compatible with gift cards and cards had to be presented in person, Okay... So our lunch plans turned into early dinner plans in the hours it took to email them and get a response. Still it gets worse - a lot! I'll start with the queso w/chorizo and chips appetizer. The queso tasted like someone dumped an entire salt shaker in it. Queso should be white - theirs is burnt orange. It was cheez whiz or velveeta I'm guessing. My wife had quesadillas - upon opening the Styrofoam container it came in and seeing the food - she was angry and disappointed. I calmed her down and said to just try it - big mistake. My Tostada was so salty that a gallon of water was needed to get thru half of it. Bad, low quality food..... The bottom line is Don Juan Mex Grill uses the lowest quality ingredients money can buy. I was passing through Emmaus and the Yelp reviews told me this was my dinner spot so I stopped... but I struggle to see the hype here. Don Juan is to Mexican food what Burger King is to burgers. Moe's, Chipotle, and Q'doba all out rank Don Juan, easily, in all categories. Why then does Don Juan exist?.... well, because you're in the area and you need your Mex fix now. The salsa bar tastes canned and presents watery. While the veggies were very fresh, the beef was fatty/greasy with little flavor and the Chips were somewhat stale and waaaaay over salted. Seriously, I thought my coronary was coming. The kind but aloof cashier stopped by and asked about my meal and I said the Burrito bowl was ok but the chips were so salty they are inedible. Her response was "Oh. Ok, thank you." Now in her defense she's not a waitress but I did leave a tip on my card when I ordered... so I did hope for more than that. Remember, unlike Moes, you pay for your chips at Don Juan. Wow. This place is amazing. Super fresh ingredients, quick service, and friendly people! I got a chicken burrito and it was huge. Stuffed with chicken, veggies and beans. Also got chips and guac. The chips were yummy and I grabbed a side of mild salsa and next time I'll make sure to get more since it was very tasty. This place has a very solid burrito: fresh ingredients, good flavor, and huge! I ordered the carnitas (pork) burrito. The meat was so tender. The chipotle dressing was creamy with a nice kick. The staff is great & super friendly, they always answer any questions I have regarding the menu, etc. But when it comes to the food, it just doesn't do it for me. I've tried the nachos - didn't like. The Emmaus location of Don Juan is located in a small strip mall. Although the space is small, we have never struggled to find a seat when we have wanted to dine in. Additionally, if you are interested in take out you can order take out through the website. The space is clean, the staff is very friendly, and the food is fresh and tasty. During our visits we have had tacos, empanadas, burritos, and nachos. From the veggies to the protein all of the ingredients have been fresh and very tasty during each of our visits. They do have a nice kids size portion that my son enjoys. Personally, I enjoy the nachos and the empanadas the most. I'll be honest and lead with the fact that I would actually rate this as 3.5... and I was torn as to whether to give it 3 or 4 stars... I opted to go with 3 for a couple of reasons... read on! To begin, I am a lover of Mexican food... tacos, burritos, quesadillas, salsa, jalpenos... mmm, yes please. And generally speaking, my standards aren't terribly high. For example, I'd give Taco Bell 3 stars all day long... nothing wrong with the Bell, just not "great". The thing is that the market is pretty saturated right now. Within 15 miles of Don Juan you have Fiesta Ole, Don Patron, Chipotle, Fiesta Habanero, Cali Burrito and Los Aztecas to name a few... so the standards are pretty high overall because there are a couple of really good Mexican places in that list -- and you can never go wrong at Chipotle. So why eat at Don Juans? The food is pretty good. My burrito was hot and fresh with good flavor. The chips are crunchy, my son's quesadilla was to his liking AND they have fresh salsa -- that gets an extra point. We also had empanadas which were above average, but not quite as good as Fiesta Habanero in East Greenville. And as far as the salsa goes, it was good -- the salsa verde particularly had a sweet spicy thing going on. Overall, we enjoyed the food just fine -- which usually gets a place 4 stars except... there were little nagging things... Why Three Stars? While my burrito was tasty, it was $7 and it was shredded chicken. For $7 I expect diced chicken. And there wasn't nearly enough of it... and while the beans and rice were fine, they weren't lime cilantro or anything spiffy like that. Plus, the folks in the back clearly aren't burrito rollers... they need to take a class from Chipotle or Los Aztecas on how to roll a burrito and make it not fall apart as soon as the foil comes off. Minor but made it much messier. And the noise... they had obnoxious music playing that made it nearly impossible to have a conversation. So, overall a good place, but not a great place. And with all the options out there... I just don't know if we'll be back or not... maybe. read more

The girl at the counter was very friendly and the staff was young and energetic (even at that time before closing). When I moved the the Lehigh Valley this was the first placed I grabbed a quick bite. I couldn't have been more pleased with my choice. The burrito bowls are HUGE and filled with fresh ingredients. Since my first time I have been here a handful more. I usually cook at home. Last night I got out of work 2 hours late and was starving on my way home. I was going to just go to bed hungry until I saw the open sign and pulled in. Upon approaching the building I noticed they closed at 8. I looked at my watch, 7:58. Bummer. Disappointed. If I was comparing this to real Mexican food, it would be lower. However, I gave a break on the rating because it's likely the only Mexican that you'll have access to in the area. First, I can rate most Mexican places by the quality of their salsa. This salsa was forgettable (hopefully). If you just want some puréed tomatoes, mild taste (even when you picked the hot one), it's fine. Burrito was ok. The carne asada ok. But, pretty small. Maybe 4 or 5 pieces of steak. The burrito was probably $9. If you add other toppings, probably.50 for each. It includes beans, rice and cheese in it. They have queso dips but charge separately for chips. What else would you do with the dip? That was $5.25. While that price might not seem bad if you're dining in a restaurant, this is not a restaurant but a "hole in wall" kind of place. Staff was friendly. I didn't see anyone cleaning tables while there. I won't be going back. For that much money, I'd go to Cali Burrito or Chipotle. read more

I am especially happy since they added steak to the menu, but I am a little disappointed by the amount of steak you get in any order, it is pretty small for the upcharge. I have only ever had their chicken salad but I've enjoyed it every time. The ingredients are fresh. My only complaint is that there seems to be a lot of water at the bottom of the Togo container. You better come hungry, the burritos here are massive! Very fresh, lots of choices! I like their burritos more than their tacos, but its just personal preference. Pro tip, you get a lot more guac ( with the chips and guac) if you eat there, if you order it to go they can only fill it to where the lid can close.
