Very solid Mexican restaurant. We stopped because there were a lot of cars out front for 1 PM on a weekday. Service was quick and friendly. Ambience was as expected for a Mexican restaurant. Food was excellent! She had Al Pastor pork tacos and I had Carnitas tacos. We also really appreciated the generous sized portion of taco chips and salsa that came down.

    Call log

My students and I made a reservation on February 25th for a party of 50. The numbers changed and I called March 21st with the new number: 31. I called again March 27th to let them know we were in our way. I spoke to Josh the first two times, letting him know we had a tight schedule and needed to get the students back to NJ on time... When we got there, there was only one waiter for our area. We waited 90 min to get served and probably about 30 min to pay. Reasons we were given: Josh is only the Assistant Manager and we did not speak to the manager (Norma). She was not aware of the reservation until the day BEFORE so she was not prepared for such a large crowd... (mind you we scheduled it a month ahead of time to ensure speedy service) and she stated Josh is new... yet the staff refused to open another register to speed up the checkout process while they stood there shooting the breeze. They sent me to pay with the waiter and had no regard for such a large party having to wait that long. We finally got Norma to speed up the process and take our payment at the front and the other staff members actually did something instead of looking around refusing to help. This should've been a smoothless transaction and a pleasant experience. I am thankful for all my students and their patience but the unprofessional way the restaurant handled this was uncalled for. Oh, and the inconvenience was not reflected in the form of a discount in any way either. Food was ok... not worth the wait and frustration.

Came here for my nephew's birthday as his goal was to eat Mexican food. Not knowing anything about this place, I've realized it's a PA-based chain of Mexican restaurants which also happens to span south into Virginia & North Carolina and up north to Connecticut & Massachusetts. Therefore, it's a known name in the state. With that said, for a table of 9, we were seated relatively quickly. The complimentary chips + salsa were really good. However, do request the spicy salsa (habanero?). It's worth the supreme kick and it tastes good when slightly diluting into the regular salsa. We all ordered a potpourri of items. I'll mention them in my comments below: 1) The veggie nachos were pretty damn tasty. They were nice enough to customize it to our needs as well. Was very hearty with the veggies, from broccoli to cauliflower to peppers. 2) We ordered a chimichanga, except made for vegetarians. I wish they would create a separate vegetarian chimichanga on their menu. I'm sure plenty of vegetarians come to eat here. With that said, the serving size was HUGE. 3) I ordered the spinach enchiladas. I was able to finish almost all of the enchiladas. There was a LOT of spinach in there, which is good, but also tough to finish. The bummer is that this could use a combo of black beans + spanish rice. This came with white rice, which I didn't ever think was a great fit with Mexican food. 4) The enchiladas trio I think had a bit too of that cheese sauce. It might be masking the dish, but it was a bit of an overkill. 5) Service was relatively good, even though it seemed like our waitress forgot to provide my other nephew a coke until the main menu hit. With that said, the best part is perhaps the birthday celebrations. Can't go wrong with it. We heard 3 different birthday celebrations in the 1+ hour we were there. All in all, I was originally thinking 3 as the food wasn't earth shattering, but I pushed it up to 4 just for the birthday celebrations.

Food and drinks served here were good quality. Texas Margarita was frozen and very smooth. We also tried mango margarita, sangria, and horchata. Housemade chips, salsa and tableside guacamole were very good. Chicken tenders for toddler were really good. Brother enjoys their tamales. Chicken soup was hearty. Fajitas were served sizzling hot and very good. Pollo Patron also very good. Friend enjoyed seafood chimichanga. Azteca Pescadora was another entree we tried. Desserts were good. Service and atmosphere were great.

I've always enjoyed the consistency of Plaza Azteca, for a "chain American Mexican" spot. The Allentown location was just that, as there were week night drink specials, like $6 Paloma's on Mondays, Rum Runners Tuesdays, etc. and one of my personal basic guilty pleasures, the ala carte 3 Beef Hard Tacos, were $5.50, but now it's $9.75! Absolutely no more drink specials, and the rise in price for one of my favorites, means I will skip on coming to this particular Plaza Azteca. I was told there was new management now, so there's that. There is a location on 378 I will check out, perhaps they have specials. If not, then Plaza will no longer get my business, not that it would even matter to them. I'm highly disappointed, as this was one of my regular go to places for a consistent, reasonably priced meal in the middle of the afternoon, but no more.

Lots of seating and given unlimited chips with salsa. Food came relatively quick and tasted good. They have a large selection to order on their menu so I'd be interested in going again. Birria tacos: awesome but too oily. Traditionally it's made by dipping the tortilla into fat, but the whole taco was soaked with oil and dripping oil when you picked it up. Nevertheless, it was still delicious and I enjoyed the beef which resembled barbacoa. Service was decent. Most staff spoke some English with the exception of the waiters who were fairly fluent with accents, but this would be a great place to practice Spanish. Atmosphere was nothing special. Pricing was pretty decent for what you get especially since you can fill up on chips if you wanted. Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambience: 3/5

They have burritos, bowls, salads, tacos and quesadillas. I wasn't super hungry, but my husband was so he decided to get tacos. You get THREE tacos in an order, and you can pick a different protein for each one if you'd like. They have tofu and veggie options for vegetarians, which is amazing. Next you'll add your toppings, such as veggies, cheese, guacamole, etc. We added a side of chips & queso and WOW! I think they make the chips in-house because they were very fresh. And the queso was different than what I'm used to as a born-and-raised Texan...however it was INCREDIBLY TASTY! This was a wonderful surprise seeing as this restaurant is located in Pennsylvania (which isn't exactly known for good Tex-Mex, if you feel me). The icing on the cake is that the staff members were so friendly! I always appreciate good service, and I feel like they went above and beyond here, especially considering that this is a counter-service type restaurant. Definitely give them a try if you're in the area!

But the food is at another level especially with the modest pricing. It's clear they work to make certain everything from meat to vegetables is fresh and seasoned perfectly. My girlfriend had a chicken burrito bowl and I had the steak. Both were delicious, loaded with expertly cooked protein as well as vegetables. Their salsas and sauces are also fantastic. Open to 3 AM on the weekends, it's the perfect place for that satisfying late night snack. They are also adept for DoorDash and probably every other pickup service. We cannot wait to return!

So this is a review, 13 years in the making…read more I used to work in the Allentown area and one of my coworkers suggested stopping for lunch. I had passed Cali Burrito several times but didn't know much about it. My life was forever changed. My tried and true order is the 'Humbolt". It's perfect in every way and it appeases to vegetarians and meat eaters alike. I have turned several of my friends, family and coworkers on to Cali Burrito over the years. Id like to mention I lived in San Diego and the burritos in Allentown, Pa far exceeded any burrito found in the Golden State. I now live in Virginia Beach area and my love for Cali Burritos knows no distance. Yesterday, I had to take a drive into the area and you better believe I stopped in for a burrito. 720 miles, round trip and worth every mile.

I finally managed to get my car in Cali's parking lot. But, I had to wait for another patron (which…read moredidn't take long) to arrive and I followed them into the restaurant. It's not easy to figure out where the enrtance is. Okay, so I ordered the the ground beef tacos for $12 bucks. You get 2 tacos in a basket with tortilla chips. The chips are a bit weird and different, still not sure how much I liked them. Like Moe's, they have a salsa bar with 4 salsa choices along with various condiments. The salsa's are tasty and I like the flavor in all 3 I tried. I ordered tacos and what they brought to my table resembled a tacos, but the taco expectation ended there. These so called tacos, to me, aren't realy tacos at all. Their assembelled usinf both a hard shell and a soft shell (Taco Bell offers something similar). Whatever you call it, taco is not the thought that comed to mind when eating it. I was hungry and did manage to eat both of the tacos, but considered throwing out the 2nd taco. I was confused and unsure what I was eating. The ground beef wasn't bad, but my main complaint at a Mexican Eatery nearby (Plaza Azteca} is the same. The ground beef is unseasoned. This is fundamentally wrong to me. All the Taco Kits at the grocery store come with a seasoning packet to add to the ground beef when preparing the tacos. I left unhappy, that's not to say I wouldn't try their burrito's. They looked good as seen on other patrons tables. I'm 70 years old and the theme of Cali reminds me of the 60's/70's. The decor, interior, and interior are psychedelic. Retro throwback to the hippie days. The staff reflects that theme - they came across in a kind weird way to me; but not in a bad way! Their is no shortage of happy campers enjoying their lunch (I went at 1PM). It seems like a cult following which speaks to the freshness and quality of the food served. I'm still unsure what was in the alleged tacos I ate. Lol!
