Sometimes when they are open, I will walk in, smell & sample their perfumes & have bought lovely pieces of jewelry there. Sometimes I walk by when it's closed. I stare in the windows because it's a smaller shop, cute feminine type of salon and imagine myself selecting items to buy; not caring a fig about the price! Dreaming. Like a kid staring in the window of a candy shop. Dreaming. "Allie" styled and cut my hair. She's a gem! She listened to my hair needs and did her magic ;-) Cost $60. My sister and I were walking by after breakfast. I noticed adorable, plush, lovely, slippers in a nice wrapping outside of this quaint salon. We immediately walked in and were greeted with smiles, contagious energy and friendliness. Long story short, after 1 hr, we walked out with 12 slippers for my sisters wedding party! All different styles, colors, reasonable price and a great experience! This salon is more than a salon. I can see it being a place where you build friendships, buy anything from hair services, products, candles, home decor, candles, slippers, oh geese and so much more!!! Turns out that after we made our big purchase, the owner informed us that she had just opened her business 10 days prior. I almost wanted to cry! It was as if we were meant to be there that morning to make my sisters wedding day a bit brighter and to help contribute to this newly opened business! Absolutely hands down the best salon I have ever been to. The gals here are fantastic! They are not only incredibly talented but super nice as well and when you are spending hours in a chair with someone that really matters. I brought my kids here to get some wild colors and they were thrilled. Not only did they get fantastic colors but while they were getting their hair done the ladies popped next door and got them Shirley Temples just to be nice! The colors came out really vibrant and beautiful and they also gave us some tips on how to keep the color lasting - they got their hair done initially in September and as of January when we came back to get the roots touched up it still looked freshly colored. My son, especially, has gotten so many compliments on his hair color and how vibrant it is. Bottom line- these gals are the total package and I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

So, I'm a local and have been in this salon before to look at their adorable merchandise but have never been there to receive any hair or beauty services. On a whim, I decided to do myself a solid and made a long overdue hair appointment. I booked online and anticipated my appointment with excitement and curiosity. The next day, I received a call from my stylist Ro, for a consult which I greatly appreciated! She wanted to be sure she was clear about what I wanted so, that was a good sign to me! Getting there, I was greeted by Ro with a sweet hello and she quickly had me in the chair and had my curly mop brushed out in no time flat! She didn't make comments about how long my hair was or how she probably wouldn't have time to blow dry it (like almost every other hair dresser I've been to has said!). She instead complimented my hair and seemed genuinely excited to work with it! She got to work quickly, had me look at pictures for color reference and onto my full highlights she went! She let me know I could just do my thing, chill and look at a magazine, but I love interaction so I opted to talk to her. We had great conversation and she asked me how I wanted to style my hair. I mentioned I hadn't had it cut in while and that I liked her layers. She was like "ok then, would you like me to cut your hair?" and being in no rush myself I said "yes, of course!". The end result is EXACTLY what I had imagined (using highlights to cover grey on dark hair) and exceeded my expectations. She blew out my hair even though I was going over time and she had a client in between for a quick condition. She managed us both gracefully and made me feel super pampered and important. I am very particular on how I like my hair done, on the color and on the care taken so that I don't walk away with a ton of breakage. All things that I take into consideration. I was blown away! I saw Alison and she is simply amazing! She listened and did exactly what I wanted. My color (blonde- can be touchy) was perfect icy blonde! I hate warm tones and get a little brassy. I used to travel far to get the best (Oakland and SF)- no more! I will be a regular! And I have to say that the pricing is fantastic! Caché Salon is a great place to get you hair done for many reasons. They are in the heart of downtown, so if you are visiting and need a blow dry or style for the evening, it's so close to most hotels. They are well priced! It is incredibly hard to find a quality hairdresser in Napa for a reasonable price, this place is it! They have amazing customer service, they welcome you in and offer you a beverage or snack, which for me comes in clutch after a long work day running on empty. They have great merchandise! If you are looking for a great, high quality gift for your girlfriend, mother, or friend, the options are endless here. But come prepared to spend some money because most items are expensive, but worth it. Finally, I would recommend Allison as a hairdresser. Row did my highlights and she did a great job! I have long, thick, stubborn hair and usually have to be at salons 3+ hours but she managed to shave it down to close to only 2 hours and the color turned out great not orange or brassy at all! She also squeezed me in for a trim which was really nice because originally I had called in for just the highlights. The salon is centrally located so there's not much parking (super)close by. The salon has a small boutique in the front so it's kinda fun to window-shop and get your hair done at the same time the salon is small and quaint has a relaxing fun vibe. I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep maintaining my hair so I didn't make a future appointment but I recommend you do because it's a busy place. I did keep Row's card though and plan to go back to see her for all haircare needs. read more

Okay - things you should know about my review: First, I just moved to Napa from SF, and am in search of My New Place. In the 7+ years I lived in SF, I salon-hopped like a madwoman. I've gone to SUPER high-end places ($500? Seriously? Yes.), mid-level places, cheapo places, the gamut. I've been worked on by everyone from newbies to The Gays to that one punk woman with a bleached blonde mohawk who rocked a haircut but scared the bejeezus outta me. So I know from salons. Cache is very good, and Christy (the owner who did my cut and color) was excellent. She spent a LOT of time with me up front to make sure we were on the same page, and my hair's never looked better. Let me repeat: My hair has never looked better. Christy and her salon get 5 stars for that. More info: The salon is small and cute and welcoming, and a great neighborhoody salon. Definitely better than your average drop-in place. However, it is not a chi-chi "Day Spa": No fountain or pitchers of cucumber water or Enya music or espresso bar. (Depending on your taste, this could be a good thing.) If you know SF, I would liken Cache to getting your nails done at Silk -- way better than your average corner spot, but not as fancy/expensive/upscale as someplace like Bliss or any of its kind. I have never had such a horrible experience with both customer service and performance in my life. I came into the salon for a bridal trial on Saturday for my wedding in May with Alli/Allison. I also had my entire bridal party of 6 schedule with her as well. I was told to send ideas for the hairstyle through Instagram messenger, which I did. When I arrived at the salon I was asked to wait because my stylist was not there yet. She arrived 15-20 minutes late and seemed flustered and rushed. I asked her if she received my video of my hairstyle and she looked puzzled. She checked her phone and said that she did not receive because of her privacy settings, even though she asked me to communicate through Instagram. I am wondering why Alli hadn't reached out to ask for pictures if she had not received them, just to make sure she was prepared for such an important day. She begins to do my hair and I am trusting she is doing a great job, I am relaxing and enjoying having my hair done, excited for the final product! While she is doing my hair she apologizes for being late, she said she had an issue with her boyfriend and a car... not that that is my business as a client. Once she turns me around in the chair I am completely disappointed in her work. My hair was nothing like the video I showed her and looked dry and frizzy, my hair had no body and all of my curls were combed out. I let her know that i was not happy and that it was not what I asked for. She began to cry. She told me it would be better the day of and will be less frizzy and the curls will be better etc. She apologized obsessively and said she would practice over and over and send me pictures of the final product. She said she knew she could do better. I told her that If she promised she could give me the hair in the video for my wedding day that we would have no problem, she said she was confident she could do it and promised she could. She even gave me some morracan Argan oil for "if my hair gets more frizzy" for free and said there was no charge. I was still disappointed but and nervous about my wedding day hair, but she promised she would make it right so I trusted her. I was also doing a very important photo shoot that same day and needed my hair to be perfect, but unfortunately this didn't happen. I was also late to my next appointment because she was behind I received a call this morning from the abrasive insulting owner Christy. Before being able to explain what happened to me at her salon she informed me that her employee complained about me and now she is going to cancel ALL of our appointments for my wedding day. Her staff fabricated the events of the day and made me out to be the bad guy. I had a horrible experience and instead of receiveing a call from a humble apologetic owner, I received a call from an owner who "stands by her stylist" even when they are in the wrong. The stylist even told her that we left without paying, even though we were told there was no charge after insisting that we pay something. As a bride I was mortified by this experience and wouldn't wish the stress of having to find a new stylist for 7 people less than 3 weeks before the most important day of my life and being insulted and called a thief on top of it all. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. I went with my friend so she could do her trial wedding hair with Alli. Alli was to do the bride's hair along with all 5 bridesmaids on the wedding day. Alli showed up late to the appointment and seemed flustered and complained about an issue with her boyfriend. My friend showed her a start to finish video of the hair she wanted. When my friend's hair was finished, it looked nothing like the video. My friend explained her disappointment and asked Alli if she would be able to achieve the desired look on the wedding day. Alli began to cry. My friend felt bad and tried to console her. In the end Alli told my friend that there was no charge for the day and promised she would be able to live up to the standards. My friend hugged her (a complete stranger to her) and we left with high hopes for the wedding day. Three days later, all 5 bridesmaids received an automated text stating our appointments had been cancelled. We were not contacted besides this. The owner of the salon, Christy, called my friend and immediately told her the salon would be cancelling all 6 appointments due us not paying for the service and for my friend "verbally assaulting" Alli which caused Alli to miss the last three days of work. Coming from a career as a first responder, these people obviously don't know what verbally assaulting is and need to get out into the real world. You should not be in customer service if you can't handle constructive criticism. Alli obviously embellished everything that happened in order to try to avoid getting reprimanded by Christy. The entire experience was a joke and completely unprofessional. I will gladly spend my money elsewhere. read more

Shout-out to Allie for being an amazing miracle worker! In desperate need of a haircut, stressing every time I walked by a mirror or reflection, I brought my 'mop' in to Caché seeking some kind of miracle. My hair had recently decided it was going to go from wavy/curly to straight and flat-aaaaugh! Christy reassured me that I was not beyond hope or help and promised that Allie would have no problem transitioning this into a work of art. Being a first time appointment, and considering the changes my hair was deciding to take on, I thought it might take 2-3 appointments to figure out my hair. Allie didn't even see it as a challenge, as she checked out my hair, listened to my frustrations, and quickly went to work sculpting a whole new look. She seemed to actually have fun going above and beyond my simple haircut request and I left there looking and feeling so great! But as most of us know, you can leave a salon looking great, but how will it look two days later or after you wash it-that's the real test. I called frantic because my hairdresser had cancelled on me, I live in Denver Colorado so when Christy told me that she was able to see me just days before this wedding I was very excited. Once we arrived (I was a little late) she was very accommodating and even gave us (my husband was with me) and beer from the pub next door. Both do amazing job, Valentina does my hair but I see Christy's work as I am sitting there. They are wonderful, prices good and the way you are treated is fabulous. I'm fairly new to Napa and needed to get my hair done -- I have straight long hair so cuts are easy, color is most important, any tiger stripes/fades show easily -- went to this place after looking it up on Yelp.
