Terry Brown, owner of The Arrangement is one of the best hairstylists I have ever known. She is also the most caring and compassionate people I have known, and she has passed these attributes to both of her daughters. Terry has done my hair since I moved to Napa in 1986. She has also done my daughter's hair for about the same number of years. Terry continues to cut my daughter's and also cuts her two son's hair. Terry has a fabulous rapport with the two young boys. She cuts their curly hair perfectly, and they actually love going to see Terry. Terry is meticulous. She is really an artist with color and style. I recently moved to Napa from Australia. I have brown hair and finding a professional to do my hair the way I like it is almost impossible. I prefer the cooler tones of blond and finding a professional that listens and understands that don't like brassy or golden colours is hard. For years my former hairdresser used only permanent hair color, which was irritating to my scalp and drying to my hair, and grew out with an obvious line of demarcation. Many times she would not rinse out the color enough, and the towel would show the dye residue. Also, my color was too yellow and brassy....I kept asking for an ash color to neutralize brassiness and she would refuse, saying it wouldn't work. I was ready to throw in the towel and just let my gray grow out. Finally, I decided to give Terry a try and I am so happy I did! My hair color is exactly what I want and it is also semi-permanent, which is much more gentle on my hair and grows out gracefully....lasts just as long as the permanent color from before. Also, she gave me a beautiful haircut and never trims my bangs too short! Prices at the salon are very reasonable as well. Recommend highly! read more

This review is NOT about the salon itself but SHELLEY R., an independent stylist that works there. Before we began, we had a good talked about how I wanted my hair to look. I even showed her a picture and she agreed! She was like "Do you want your color to whisper, talk or shout?" I said "Talk", I wanted it to stand out but not too much. When she finished, I noticed that the color was way off. But I said to myself, its ok, it will fade and that next time I'll tell here...I want my color to "Shout". As she was working on my hair, she kept talking about Oloplex and Monat, new products she's trying out and how she like to use good quality products. I agreed and thought that I finally found and good stylist. I was totally WRONG! I had the worst haircut and highlights EVER. 26 yrs in this service, doesn't make one a great stylist. I did only get the Groupon special that pays for 2 oz of product plus cut and style. Yes, I had a groupon voucher but I never told her that I wasn't going to pay for whatever extra product or services, to get what I want. She curled my hair after the color so I wasn't able to really see the cut. I allowed her to use all the products she was raving about and even gave a 18%GRATUITY because she was nice the entire time and even mentioned that if I came home and didn't like any of her work to call her back. Well, it's been 2 wks and she still hasn't responded to my appt request. I really tried to make it work but it's just terrible. I DO NOT recommend her at all. This review is for Shelley Rivera, who is an independent contractor just uses salon space inside the Arrangement Salon. I feel stupid to ever think a Groupon deal would do a good, professional job. But I did, so I naively purchased the haircut, full highlights+deep condition package. I texted Shelley to let her know of the package/set an appt. She wasn't there I texted her to remind her. She told me she lost track of time. She arrived 30 mins later & said she would use Colorplex on my hair as a freebie. I told her the kind of cut I wanted & highlights, "Oh we only have time to do the cut, I have another client after" although I clearly mentioned in the text the details. I was confused but agreed to set another appt to see her because there was nothing else I could do. The cut was great. I thought the result of the cut would reflect the future result of my color appt. APPT #2:She told me she was running super late because she was still finishing another client so I arrived about 30 past my original appointment time to give her time to be done with her client and so I wouldn't have to wait. Wrong. I arrived at around 5:30 and she was still in the back with her other client. When she finally noticed I was there she was like," oh you're here," took me to the chair to color. I showed her the Carmel/light brown I wanted & she said she could do that. Then she told me the Groupon package covers 2 oz of product & asked if I wanted them spread out or together and I said spread out. She left to mix the colors/also check on her other client. When she came back to foil my hair I mentioned that I wanted face framing highlights as well & she said okay. 6:07she was still doing her other client's hair. She foiled my hair w/my back facing the mirror so I couldn't watch what she was doing. She took me to the back to wait again in a chair while she tended to the other girls hair. I waited til she came back to check on me,when I touch my hair I felt not all of my hair was in foils. I asked if she was going to do the rest of my hair,"no I told you it only came with 2 oz of product, that doesn't cover your whole head so that's why I recommended spreading them out but then you said you wanted face framing highlights." I thought from the way we discussed it it was going to be spread out & face framing. I don't know how much 2 oz of product highlights and she never warned me to say it wouldn't be all over. Why would I want highlights to only cover the top of?! I wanted them all over so I told her I'd pay extra for for my whole head to be highlighted. She got flustered & could hear attitude in her voice when she said,"k well now I have to start all over." Knowing that she was pissy made me feel super awkward. She rinsed me & put me in the dryer. While my hair dried she went to the front to finish her other client (YES THE OTHER CLIENT WAS STILL THERE)...another 30 mins go by and she takes me to the front. The other client had left, it was probably 7:15 pm.... She styles my hair with a brush & said she didn't want to fight my hair so let it fall. My hair is usually parted towards the middle &the way it was styled it was parted over to the right. It looked ok, I couldn't really see all the highlights I said it looked good after glancing at it bc it was about 9 PM & I was so tired after being up since 4:30 and having a 10 hr work day then having to go straight to the salon. I still had to drive an hour back to where I live. I just wanted to leave. I paid the $160 extra ($125 for the rest of my hair to be highlighted + $25 toner + $10 tip). I tipped $10 because I had been there for 4 hours & I thought it was unprofessional to have me wait so long while she finished her other client. It's not my fault she poorly scheduled herself. Left and went home and saw that it looked streaky & COMPLETELY UNEVEN the highlights that she put in were what I wanted-they were yellow?! When said I wanted a refund she it took her half a day to respond and only after the fact I called the salon & the manager said she'd call her. I didn't want her to try and fix it because why would I drive an hr out of my way to finish what should've been done the first time at the first appointment?! read more

I went into Arrangement Salon yesterday afternoon. I wanted to make a change to my current hairstyle, so I decided to give Arrangements a try since it is close to my house. I don't have any complaints about the Salon or about how my hair turned out, the problem I have is with the older women who worked on my hair. Her name is Yolanda Fish. She seemed very nice at first and we talked for a long time while she worked on my hair, but as time went by, she started telling me about her political beliefs, and I guess because I am white, she thought it was okay to make racial slurs and use very derogatory language concerning people of Mexican decent. I was shocked by her comments and also very offended! I called the Salon to talk to the owner, but she wasn't in and hasn't returned my call yet. That was the first and last time I will ever go to Arrangement Salon! read more

I have been a client of Mercedes for about 3 years now. Mercedes is professional, consistent, communicative and offers great cut and color suggestions. I always receive compliments on my hair and have referred several very satisfied friends to Mercedes...she is fabulous! My sister had hair down to the middle of her back last year. She went to a stylist in Santa Rosa that gave her a bowl cut (chopped shorter than shoulder Length, kinda like a mullet, blond on the lower half and black on the top half of her hair...) It was the worst cut anyone had ever seen. I purchased a groupon for Shelly Rivera to try her out without having to pay full price and let me tell you- I will be back to pay full price. She was so professional and nice and did EXACTLY what I asked. I have the best cut I have had ever. I trust her to not chop all my hair off when I need a cut. The groupon was good for a cut, style, and conditioning treatment with 2 oz of bleach for highlights. She made that 2 oz go a long way! I was in a hurry so didn't have time for the treatment so she gave me some to take home. She also had to place a toner on my hair to make sure she didn't fry it off and was upfront about it costing extra. The poor reviews are from people with incredibly dark hair wanting blonde right away or from people not reading the fine print and wanting to keep using groupons. The salon itself was clean and the other staff were so nice and professional. I will definitely keep coming back here to Shelly! read more
