Life has changed. Life is different. I miss my favorite spots in Nulu…read more During the COVID-19 pandemic, I wanted to do something to support my favorite businesses, especially the ones in Nulu. Enter collaborations with some of my favorite businesses in the area. The one that caught my eye was a joint venture with Revelry, Nouvelle, and Sweets by Millie. Their special for this pandemic was a Wino & Dino gift set. You get a special bottle of wine from Nouvelle, a Dino succulent from Revelry, and 6 cupcakes from Sweets by Millie. This is my favorite thing from the pandemic right now. The sparkling bottle of rose from Nouvelle was elegant and beautiful. The dinosaur succulent is fun, whimsical and will continue to remind me of this sense of solace for as long as I can keep the plant alive. Finally, the cupcakes. Oh my goodness. These were out of this world amazing. 2 vanilla, 2 strawberry and 2 chocolate. If you want absolute perfection, these cupcakes are it. Thank you to Nouvelle, Revelry, and Sweets by Millie for making this time a little sweeter and being willing to collaborate. I may be ordering another set of cupcakes soon... no judgment zone, y'all.

This wonderful boutique bakery is located on Main Street in the historic district of Middletown,…read moreand is housed in a building that is over 100 years old (it used to house a bank). The bakery is co-owned by a local mother-daughter team! They make beautiful wedding cakes (a couple were there doing cake testings and creating their desired cake while we visited). The cake and frosting options looked amazing. In addition to wedding cakes they take orders for cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and a variety of pastries. Orders can be made in person or online. There are delightful servings of pastries (macaroons, cinnamon rolls, scones, tarts, cake slices and more) for sale in the shop. They also serve coffee, hot chocolate and cold drinks. My husband and I shared a slice of carrot cake and it was so moist and delicious. It was reminiscent of my grandmother's carrot cake that I enjoyed years ago. I suggest going early for the best selection, they sell out quickly! There are several seating areas if one chooses to eat in the shop and the space is decorated simply and elegantly. The baked goods take center stage! In addition, the bakery offers workshops and classes about cake decorating and more. Classes are offered for beginner level and for those with more experience. The space can be rented for bridal showers, baby showers and other events. The bakery is open Thur, Fri, and Sat (There are Tues and Wed hours available for pre-order pick up). If you visit Louisville and don't stop here for a bite to eat, I feel sorry for your taste buds and…read morebelly. All of the reviews about the Danwich are TRUE! True people! Because it was bigger than my head (ok, maybe this is a slight exaggeration but not by much) i had to disassemble it to eat it in stages. First off were the waffle fries and I found them to be tasty, crunch and fluffy in all the right spots. Once the taters were off I cut that biggie baby in 8 'Oh My Danwich' slices. Y'all, I rarely find myself at a loss for words, even my high dollar, 10 letter ones, but I can't fill this space with all the adjectives I would want in describing this sanwich that would make you want breakfast for every meal. The sausage had that savory salty pork taste that makes you happy you're not a vegetarian with an egg slice that was fluffier than my German Shepherd's downy fur. The cheese even had a nice pull with the topper being their chive aioli. And that sandwich was just the beginning because I also ordered a Strawberry Cruffin, Bourbon Peach hand pie and a raspberry Danish to have as late night snacks. The handpie didn't do it for me. The peaches lacked flavor that I found myself asking bestie if she wanted it because I was jiat going to toss in the trash after just 2 bites. The strawberry mascarpone cream in the cruffin was silky smooth and berrylicious with the croissant being flaky and fluffy. It was almost like a sweet and savory after school snack. The kind of bakery item that keeps you coming back for more. And more. And the piece de resistance was the raspberry Danish. I've lived my 61 years learning to never turn down raspberry anything and today, my raspberry research paid off. One hundred percent tenfold. Even though the glaze drizzle was super sweet, the flaky danish offset it with that light crunch but fluffy innards. Y'all, with each bite I just fell more in love. The Danish was so good that when I came to my last bite not only was I sad that it would soon be gone but I wanted to cry. Cry y'all. Over a Danish! Yes, do it. You only live once. Order the Danwich & the Danish. You won't be sorry. You can pay me in Butchertown gift cards. Or Bourbon. Hubby's brother lives across the Ohio so, next time he goes to visit them I'm going with him. Just so I can drive over here and try their lunch items and grab more danishes. The folks were super friendly, the place both clean and quiet. Which, kinda surprised me because the food is so good I couldn't understand why there weren't lines around the block. That changed the longer we dined in as folks just started roaming in. I said to my friend that the Louisville folk must get started late in the day.
