Found a significantly lower fare from Ontario compared with SNA and decided to give it a try for the first time. The travel time was comparable to heading to LAX or Long Beach. It was eerily quiet in the terminal when I arrived which was a few days after Christmas. There is more than 1 terminal here so make sure you know what terminal your flight is traveling out of. Like Long Beach, this airport is one that you do not want to get to the airport too early. Security was quick and I was left with a long wait at the gate for my flight. There is a relative lack of shops here adding to the boredom. Overall, flying out of ONT was alright. I would not fly out of this airport unless the fare is much cheaper given the travel distance. I will say this is a stress free airport to fly out of compared to LAX.

I checked my baggage, went through TSA, and arrived at my gate in 45 minutes. I can't help but wonder how many people plan to visit L.A. for the 2028 Olympics know about ONT as an alternative to LAX. ONT may not have as many shops like LAX or LGB, but it has a lot vending machines. I even found several Kabins for people to wait with privacy. What a great idea! One thing ONT needs to work on is to provide charging stations in the waiting area for passengers. Passengers should also bring a light jacket in the carry-on as A/C in the waiting area can get really cold.

The first time, a couple months ago, Alaska Airlines gave us a hard time about arriving too late. The glaring issue is I've been to many airports, including international airports, and I've never had such terrible customer service. I should be able to print my boarding pass, but for some reason they retire you to go speak to an agent. Then TSA was also horrendous and inefficient. Suck a small airport should not have these issues. LAX is more efficient, JFK is better. Palm Springs is small and better. Minneapolis is seamless. This place STINKS!! Today, we were running late. When we get to the counter, we're informed we've missed the plane and need to rebook. There were still 40 minutes with no TSA line to board. Alaska then informed us we needed to arrive 50 minutes before the flight. Nope, now we had to pay $150 to rebook/missing fought. We are now waiting 6.5 hours until the next flight because the idiots at the counter could not figure out how to get stuck a simple task done. Then the other representative was extremely rude to the family checking in an oversized bag. Nasty all spend this morning and my only other time. We learned we could not take our vehicle out since our reservation was activated. So we had the option to go to a coffee shop or chill out for a quarter of the day since the employee needed to get $150 out of us. Shameless!! Fck this airport.

The plane itself was in poor condition with worn seats, broken items in restroom. Flight crew and customer service over the phone were incredibly rude. What a nickle & dime circus. Even when you pay extra to pick a specific seat, they move you to a different seat and refuse to give any explanation or modify. If I wanted to be seated in the center seat between two extremely large men why would I have pre-booked all window seats? Why would Southwest take it upon themselves to move me from my designated flight, and force me to spend the night somewhere (when I was only supposed to change planes) then take another flight the next morning? My pre-booked flight was still there. And I was able to get back on but not in the seat I originally reserved and paid for. There was no reason to move me and cause the seat issue as well as the delay in getting added back onto a flight I was already booked on! When you speak to customer service, they "apologize for the inconvenience" and offer an voucher. lol Who in their right mind would ever fly on Southwest again? I would rather walk to my next destination than fly on Southwest. What a sad excuse for an airline and for customer service.

Terminal 4 is no stranger to me as it is where Southwest and American Airlines are based. I fly Southwest more than I fly American. My eldest daughter and I flew out of this terminal to start our Midwest Route 66 trip this past June 2026. TSA check-in process was fast, smooth, and stress-free. Staff was professional and friendly. Terminal waiting areas were very clean and well kept. Restrooms were spotless and well stocked. A good selection of quick-bite and full menu eateries and various vending machines. Einstein Bros. Bagels and Chick-fil-A are my go-tos. I have yet to use one of the vending machines. Maybe one day I will check them out just for kicks. Charging ports are available throughout the terminal for customer use which is always appreciated. Thank you! Daily parking at Lot 5 & 6 may be the most budget-friendly. It's a short walk to Terminal 4. Other lots may be closer, but they cost a bit more due to its location convenience. Free airport shuttles do come by each lot for pick-up and drop-off. If you're good on time, just wait for the shuttle. If you're in a hurry, I would suggest you walk or run as it may be faster. ONT will always be my go-to international airport! Thank you ONT!! This is on par with when the Spirit Airlines hostess yelled "Bum Rush" and stepped back to watch the passengers push each other to the restrooms. Where is common courtesy, kindness, respect, compassion and even just cordiality towards human kind. We are all on the same side, no one is trying to "get away" with anything. No one is trying to cause trouble. Just a girl who's running late and needed to catch her flight. No one knows what others carry and why they are running late. No one in their right mind tries to be late on purpose. So it would just be so so so nice if there was some grace given. I was not irate, I was not loud, I was threatened yet I had done nothing wrong. I feel sorry for the supervisor. I can't imagine what she's carrying to make her so ugly and hardened on the inside. I liked how quiet ONT is, which is a lot less congested than LAX and even SNA. Delta has limited flights out of this airport as it only flies to Atlanta, Salt Lake City and Seattle from here, but still seems to have a decent presence here based on their check-in area. My flight was on Airbus A220, which is a new plane that Delta has in its fleet. I like flying Delta as their planes have IFE screens to watch movies and TV shows, in addition to the Wi-Fi and streaming entertainment services. Flight service was so-so as there was turbulence and the flight attendant serving drinks was a bit rude when I asked for coffee. I was tired and wanted a pick-me-up. Given the context, I could understand why they would question serving coffee when there was turbulence but I did not like the way it was communicated. It would have been better to provide coffee once the turbulence subsided if that was an issue. I would still consider flying Delta and out of ONT in general, if the fare was significantly better than SNA.

Not sure whether parking needs validation. The ticket has a spot that says "STICKER HERE", but I asked the attendant. He said parking's free the 1st 30min. Wish this info was clearly posted at the parking entrance.

My flight's captain was experienced, friendly with passengers, and had great communication. The flight attendants were decent, they were mostly promotional staff. They offered good deals on credit cards and flight miles. The Frontier check-in counter at ONT airport wasn't busy. I arrived for an early morning flight and waited less than 10 mins in line till I was checked in. It's recommended to check-in through the Frontier app before you drop off your luggage and grab a bag tag. The attendant was multitasking, working at the check-in desk and later making her way to the boarding pass station inside the Frontier terminal. I'm still not happy about the excessive fees for carry-ons and checked bags. However, I got a good deal on a round trip flight for about $800. My flight to Houston was about three hours. We never experienced turbulence or bumpy landings.

But aside from that, I enjoy my fights with Frontier whenever I go to LV, SF, CO or KY (thru Cincinnati). The crews are nice and the price is right. Their planes are clean and the first 3 rows DO recline (pay for the upgrade). Hopefully you'll be lucky enough to have Jaime (pictured) and the guy who prefers to be incognito and unmanned (his back turned) as your stewardess because they're so funny, helpful and cool .
