I have driven by this cable airport since the early 1990's when I first became a driver and I still drive by it almost every weekend in the present LOL. I never thought to stop by and check it out. I have known it to hold events especially for the July 4th celebration. They even have air shows. They rent out planes. You can learn how to fly here, too. Cool! They have a small area with limited parking and limited seating and no cover on Benson Ave where you may sit and watch the planes fly by. I have yet to attend one of its air shows and/or celebration events. Maybe one day I will. Btw, this cable airport is the World's Largest Family Owned Public Use Airport. They are celebrating 80 years of aviation service to the local community on Saturday, September 13, 2025, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM (per flyer, subject to change). It's free admission for all. Sounds interesting and fun. Once in a lifetime visit! Come on out to support them and have some fun in the sun!! read more

This was a great little airport to fly into. Very little traffic on a Monday afternoon, easy parking and Jet-A! Transient Parking and the café was a nice touch. I flew in from Bakersfield and was able to get down from 9,5 pretty easily. read more

I have lived in Upland for almost 24 years now. I have had the privilege of walking or driving by here so many times to see many airplanes take off and land. I have done a few things here. Went to a 4th of July Air Show a few years back as a neighbor was in the military, and he invited us as we got in for free. I used to deliver pizzas for 5 years, and once in a while, I got to drive in and around on the property to get the delivery to my customers. I have been able to gather and eat at the restaurant they have off of 13th Street coming from Benson a few times. It was also cool when my kids were younger and that we could go sit or stand at or near the table they have outside by the Benson Ave entrance and watch the airplanes land. Every time I see the planes come and go, I feel like a child again !!! read more

This review is solely for the event I went to on the 4th of July at the Cable Airport. The event was $15 prior or $20 the day of. It was run by the City of Upland. My son was volunteering there with the Civil Air Patrol. We were able to get in for free to park at the CAP squadron building. Getting inside was a mess. They blocked everything off. Never having been there before, I didn't know how to inside. Some nice volunteer young men let us in and we located the squadron. The event was very nicely done. There were some great food vendors there. There were plenty of entertainment. There were at least 5000 people there. It would be fun for the little kids, I don't have any, but they had free face painting and balloon art. They also had some airplanes fly through. The fireworks at the end lasted around 19 minutes. They were a nice touch. Not the most spectacular but sufficient. It would been nice to know where they were going to shoot them off so that I knew where to stand. I know several people had the same question. Overall, it was a fun night. City of upland did a great job. I hope to return. read more

An airport cafe that has so much flavor and a variety of foods, breakfast is what we had. The homemade chile comes with cheese and onions. It is so very good you'll want it on your scrambled eggs or your steak fries. Try the biscuits and gravy. They won't disappoint you. read more

We really looked forward to the food and the views, but honestly, if you don't have a good majority of the day to spend leisurely I would not recommend you eat here. The wait understandably took time however service was a key aspect that I consider a failure- I see lots of servers freely talking, taking their time- seems a lot of unorganized work, employees here and there. It was a pretty disappointing experience- from the time we sat down to be served was about 15 minutes and waiting for food was another 40 minutes or so before we decided to just leave. Most likely will not be attempting to eat here. read more

Sounds of planes flying by and ol'military war planes sitting on the tarmac. Gotta Love this place. The airport actually made a parking area for several vehicles and placed a bench for people to sit down and watch landings and take offs just 50 feet from where you are at.. This is so cooool and they had to actually put signs on the roadway...that says low flying aircraft... I could sit here for hours just enjoying the different aircrafts doing their flying lessons on touch and go... Bring your burger and fries and sit on your tailgate and watch all the fun. Awesome takeoffs at sunset into the colorful sky!!! read more

This place will take you back in time. It's a cozy small place at the airport. People can sit inside or outside. The small planes drive or fly by going to some California destination. The food is outstanding. Everyone was eating breakfast. And I heard it was a really good breakfast. I had lunch and it reminded me when I was a child. I had a juicy cheesy Patty Melt haven't had a really good one in ages. We talked and watched airplanes. We laughed and just watched the planes move around. Cable airport is a great little airport. I have to confess, I have never flown into it. My experience is more with the observation area at the end of the runway... I have no idea who came up with the idea to put a picnic bench at the end of the runway, but, they get 5 stars from me! You can bring the kids or just bring your lunch. You get to sit at the end of the runway and watch the planes take off and land. This airport has a nice little restaurant as well with amazing views of the runway and surrounding area. This is a good airport to looking into flying lessons as well. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the big airports! read more

Small airport jewel just above Foothill blvd in Upland. The restaurant is great and a good place to watch landings and take offs. There is plenty of parking, picnic tables outside the restaurant where families sit and watch the planes in the pattern. The restaurant still has Maniac Mike's recipes including his famous salsa that goes with everything. Cindy the waitress has been there for at least the past 10 years and usually remembers your order the second time you order it. Great place to chat with pilots and plane people. You might even see a Cable or two if you're lucky. read more

Brought my AC to Cable for them to sell it. I was charged 15K for repairs prior to sale. The AC did sell eventually but the check bounced. They eventually made it good. Never again. read more

I don't have a plane or a hangar here. My review is more from the observers appreciation. The north side of the Airport has an observers area with two tables and parking for about 5 cars. When the weather is nice this is a great location to enjoy some lunch while just appreciating the weather, the view of the mountains and a plane taking off or landing every once in a while. On the South Side via the main entrance you can get to Maniac Mike's Cafe which is also a great place for breakfast or lunch and you can dine inside or out. Always something happening at Cable Airport. Easy to get into and out of, both by air and on the ground. Fuel and Maintenance for the pilots, and a fine little Airport Diner at Maniac Mikes Café. The airport has long been a great supporter of the community as well with events like the Brews and Bros festival, monthly car shows with Wings and Wheels, the Egg Fest, and lots of other events supporting the community, and the Non-Profits in the community. read more

I took my girlfriend for her first flight ever yesterday! We decided that a short flight with no destination, that could be stopped at any time would be the best option for her to finally concur her fear of flight. I was very happy with our experience, the staff was very understanding that it was her first time and reassured her that it would be fun once we were in the air. She ended up loving it and we couldn't have chosen a better time for our flight. We had nice views all around and a great view of the sun set from the plane. The pilot was very friendly (cant remember his name) and made the experience very enjoyable. Only let down was that my girlfriends headset didn't work, so we switched so she could speak with the pilot during the flight. Over all a very fun experience, would recommend and something I could see us doing again. read more

This is a fine general aviation airport. It is just northwest of Ontario. You can grab a bite at Maniac Mikes cafe, sit outside and watch the arrivals and departing planes. There is a flying club on field with a flight school. Looking to buy/sell a plane? There is a broker on the field. I often see families come out just to watch the activity. There is usually an air fair in January or February. read more

For Aviation Lovers and The Curious: You will find no better spot in Southern California to experience aviation up close and personal. Cable has the best observation deck anywhere - offering views from the Foothills to San Bernardino Mountains most days. You can see aircraft approaching and sequencing themselves for landing over Rancho. You can hear the air traffic controllers in the tower issuing instructions to the aircraft while you sit and watch. If you want you can also buy a few hours of fight time from the flight schools. An instructor will take you and two others out for a wonderful hour to an hour and a half flight around Ontario, Rancho....down to Fontan and or out over to Anaheim hills and back. They will let you fly the plane and even give you a flight book with a few hours under your belt. It's great to sit and enjoy your brown bag lunch and watch the action, it's also a great place to bring the kids, they have a great time especially on Saturday or Sunday mornings when it's a bit busier! This is also the time when you are most likely to see a larger variety of aircraft including some vintage models. Can't go wrong! read more

Okay, I may be a month late on reviewing this place but it was so fun, I have too! Luckily, for my last night at home in California, my wonderful stepmom has some amazing friends who own a Cessna . Cool right ?! She was kind enough to get us a cool sunset fly over SB mountains to close out my time! What an amazing experience I will never ever forget ! This is a great litle gem of an airport. I have been coming to the airshows for more than a few years now and there is always something interesting that you will see. Its the first airshow of the season that I know of and its a great place to hang out with friends and family. They also have a pancake breakfast at the cafe in the morning. So keep an eye out usually the 2nd weekend of the new year for the airshow. They also have a carshow as well during the airshow. read more

I have had my plane at Cable Airport for 37 years. Don't miss out on the good food and friendly service at Maniac Mikes Restaurant at the base of the tower, where you can sit outside in the shade, eat and watch the planes. I have found that Pilots are a friendly bunch of people where ever I have flown. We love to talk about and show off our planes, just ask and you might get private tour or a ride. Cable is the largest privately owned airport in the world. It is still owned and operated by the Cable family. Duey Cable first landed at this site in 1946 and removed all the sage brush and all the bolders to make it what you see today. read more

This is a pretty cool little airport located in north Upland. There's parking off of Benson where you can take the family to watch the planes land. There's also even Maniac Mike's Cafe located inside where you can also eat and watch the planes take off/land. The food there is pretty good too. A lot of locals. Every once in a while you can catch an air show there where you can see a pretty decent crowd. read more
