AWFUL EXPERIENCE. Most unprofessional group I've ever seen. Will never work with again. The cabin was DISGUSTING. An old baked potato was in the oven. Dust covered everything. Holes in the futon my kids were to be sleeping on. No additional blankets for besides what was on the bed. The bed had previously been slept in. Upon arrival, we realized the code we'd be given didn't work to unlock the door. We crossed 4 states for a horrible experience. Chelsea and Rebecca are rude and condescending. They said they could argue with me because I was upset. Who wouldn't be?! Rebecca constantly interrupted and got shrill. Chelsea said she refused to compensate me. We rented a cabin for the weekend called Emily's Hideaway. This was for a group of friends coming from around Tennessee for a surprise engagement Friday night, then an engagement dinner the following night. I called a couple days ahead of time to let them know what the plan was (the couple was to check in at the office then go to the cabin and the proposal setup be there waiting for them) and to see if I could get in any earlier than the check in time (which was 3 pm.) The lady was very hospitable, stating that she would write my name down and number and they would call me as soon as the cabin was ready. She said they would also tell the woman checking in that the cabin wasn't ready until they got a call from me stating that everything was ready to go (which I thought was above and beyond). Since it seemed that I may be able to get in early, I took the day off of work just so I could jump in the car and head up. I never got a call so I headed up to get there right at 3 pm so I could hurry up and set up. I get there and they state that the cabin isn't quite ready. Okay....I have a truck full, including cakes, flowers, and chocolate covered strawberries. Many things that don't need to be in the car for a long period of time. They wouldn't release the address until the cleaning company said it was ready so all I could do was wait and have my friend stall so I could get in and set up. I waited and waited and waited....finally we couldn't stall my friend any longer and they headed up. They got to the main office at 5:30 and it STILL was not ready. We didn't get the address until 6 pm. (Though this is not their fault but just to show how inconvenient this was, we took our Jeep that overheats when running idle because of a coolant issue. Because of this, I had to drive around Pigeon Forge for 2 1/2 hours so that I could keep the A/C on all of the perishables in my car) At this point all parties were driving around Pigeon Forge, waiting for this dang address...many of them had been on the road for hours and just wanted to get cleaned up and settled in. 3 hours after check in "started" we were able to get in. The place was what we signed up for but the customer service was not. They gave lame apologies the entire time but didn't seem to feel any sort of inclination to help us out. Their "apology" was letting us stay until noon on Sunday (many of us had to drive hours to get home so we left early anyways so that didn't really help us out). I have worked in customer service for almost a decade. Believe me, I tried to understand. I tried to be patient. But there is a point where enough is enough. If there is even a possibility that you could be stuck waiting for hours to check in, this should be stated beforehand. Oh and their secured trash receptacles? A joke. Its a trash can with a plastic snap lid on it. Yes it is cool to go to the mountains and see a bear...but not when you are walking from your car from the grocery store and practically walk right up on it on the porch! And then having it follow you back to your truck while you are trying not to run. The cabin itself was nice. The karaoke machine is sort of a joke but the arcade game was loved by all. You can hear the Dollywood Express and fireworks throughout the day and at night, so any veterans sensitive to loud noises may want to look elsewhere. Oh and she said yes... read more

Family and friends driving some days to get here....house supposedly real nice 6 bedrooms is infested with bed bugs. After hours of traveling to this office, then just before you get there no don't come....more time talking on the phone. And trying to act as if they have no obligation to us... We will refund your money.... What a way to supposedly start your vacation.... Then the BAIT AND SWITCH, oh we have a cabin that will fit your group but only $1200 more... Then we can't refund your money.... If some was charged. On a credit card, they charged my credit card two months ago....now they want to do it again. I found the original cabin we were promised... It was very secluded, and looked like the pictures.... The one we are switched too, in a neighborhood. And very run down. We had to wait until after 6:30 before we could get in. "Mountain Seduction" - managed by Cabin Fever. Cabin is described as 2-bedroom for up to 16 people. It is actually a 1-bedroom with a loft, and by NO WAY should more than 8 people stay there. A family member booked this cabin for our family vacation/reunion. We had 8 adults and 7 kids. It felt like we were staying in a commune given how crowded the house was. Six of the adults and 4 of the kids had actual beds to sleep on. My husband and I were left to sleep on futon pads that had so many body fluid stains it was repulsive. To add insult to injury, futon pads were located in what can be basically described as the crawl space above the loft. The roof prevented us from actually being able to stand up. I cannot forget to mention in the insanely steep, very tall ladder you had to use to get to the crawl space. Two of our children had to sleep on the pull-out sofa bed, which clearly had seen better days. Our third child didn't even have a bed, but luckily we had brought an air mattress. Additionally, there were not enough linens (towels, bed sheets, etc) in the house. We had to scrounge up sheets for the disgusting futon pads as there was no WAY I was going to allow any part of my body to touch those revolting pads. Aside from horrible sleeping arrangements, the cabin itself has not been well maintained nor taken care of: chairs were broken, step into the hot tub was rotten and broken, railing on front steps was precariously loose, bathtub on main floor leaked, etc. The CFV even had the audacity to try to blame the rotted hot tub step on us. The cabin also supposedly came with a pool. A small sign in the kitchen instructed us to use the pool at the Community Center, about 5 miles away. We (wrongly) assumed that the cabin was on some sort of list that would allow us to get in for free as the pool is NOT free. Nope, we had to pay to get in. More importantly is that it's located next to the sewer treatment plant. The one (and only) day we went to this pool, we were nauseated by the stench of feces. Even the lifeguards were plugging their noses at the stench. We then found the pool in the Black Bear Ridge Resort. We were told that it would $5/person/day. I explained to the BBRR representative that we are renting a cabin through CFV, they (CFV) advertised a pool as part of the rental agreement and that the kids were dying to swim. I managed to work out a pool pass for our group, but it cost me $150 for 4 days of use. Last, certainly not least, the driveway is incredibly and dangerously steep. The parking area has a BIG drop off with no fence to prevent driving over. Based on the guest book comments, a previous renter did drive their car off it, and the owner has yet to make the parking area safe. I, personally, would have NEVER rented this cabin, but (as mentioned before) it was arranged by a family member. Red flags for me: the last positive comment is from years ago and a 2-bedroom that can accommodate 16 people? No way. CFV did reveal to us this cabin is routinely referred to as the "party cabin" within their office. HORRIBLE. read more

We rented from CFV twice, both for a week in mid-February. Our first cabin, Secluded Romance, was amazing and superbly clean. We had great weather and loved every minute. If we, however, experienced an ice storm like we did on our second visit, we would not have been able to get to our cabin. The dirt road is curvy, steep, and fun! Our second visit included our 2 kids in Splashing Sunrise. We made it up to the cabin and were "iced" in all week. We had plenty of supplies, and an indoor pool and hot tub, so we didn't worry. Unfortunately, the pool temp was 70degrees and the hot tub was dirty. We came home with nasty skin rashes. I might rent again from CFV, but not Splashing Sunrise. Due to the ice storm, there was little they could do for us. We actually used dirt from the side of the hill to get some traction to leave the cabin on our final day. read more

Not the place to go if you plan to bring your pets. While I was browsing their website for cabins that allow dogs, I came across many that were listed as "pet-friendly" and that's it. No restrictions or other pet information was listed. I booked a cabin for three nights, my card was charged, and then I was sent the rental agreement. This company decided to wait until AFTER they took my money to list all the rules and regulations pertaining to pets. Just a heads up to all of you, only two dogs are allowed per cabin. They cannot exceed 25 pounds, and there is a fee of 80 dollars per dog, per stay. This fee was not included in the rental agreement so I'm unsure how they go about processing that payment. In the end, I requested a refund. Those of you with giant cats enjoy your stay while the rest of us with real dogs take our business somewhere else. read more

We rented the lone wolf cabin. It was out of our comfort zone coming from Chicago to being 5 miles up the Smokey mountains. The way up for the first night was a bit scary but the view in the morning was quite rewarding. Stop be sure to arrive before sunset. We saw wild turkeys and deer. Thank god..no bear..The cabin was huge and comforting for us 5 with plenty more room. We definitely enjoyed all amenities the cabin offered..hot tub on the deck, Jacuzzi tub, pool table, modern kitchen which we used every day, the grill on deck with breath taking view while cooking and zipping on some wine..as soon as I got back home I already recommended this to a friend who is going to have a family reunion next month. All I can say is..GREAT TRIP..GREAT TIME...we'll go back soon. read more

stayed with these people for several years. on our last visit we rented a place that was impossible to access without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. i explained this to them and they did not care. this was late in the day. they did move us to a different cabin but charged us more and was unwilling to match the price of our existing reservation. i felt trapped. so we took the rental. i returned the next day hoping to work something out. nothing was done they would not match the price and actually wanted to charge us a cancelation fee for changing cabins. the new one was in a resort and infested with roaches. i will say that they sent a exterminator the same day we called and sprayed the place and it seemed to work. we have continued to visit the area evey other year. but we will never never use this company again. we spend at least a couple of grand every time we rent a cabin. so thats 30 to 40 thousand in lost revenue as well as we always recommend another company. the first tme we rented from them the were located in a hole in the wall strip center and had exceptional service. the last time they were in a new stand alone log cabin office and was one of the most horrible experiences in my adult life. bigger isnt always better. read more

"Journey's End" ~ managed by Cabin Fever Vacations. I have only high positive regards for the staff. They all went up and beyond in customer satisfaction and service! The cabin was reserved 18 months in advance for a family reunion in the Smokey Mountains. I kept my fingers crossed that the property would be as nice as it was marketed and it exceeded my expectations. We stayed for eight glorious nights. Journey's End was a builders dream come true. The cabin was used as a home / office / model during the development of the "Cedar Falls Resort". I am one who appreciates the foresight in the development and the best development of the land. The elevation / views are breathtaking; almost 360 degrees for your viewing pleasure. The cabin has all the horns and whistles available to contractors in 2007. From the oversize custom doors; wooden structural beams; the metal roof; high UV coated casement windows; four AC units; over the top interior and exterior lighting packages; beautiful ledgestone retaining walls for the pool and steps; custom deck fencing; designer plumbing fixtures; designer light (ceiling fan) fixtures; stainless steel Viking Kitchen Appliances; every electronic upgrade; etc.... All my "credit" goes to the builder of this beautiful cabin. His dreams are there for all to enjoy! So sorry for the 2008 market hiccup. Do go and enjoy; but most of all take care of this lovely property for those who will follow. read more

"Mountain Seduction" managed by Cabin Fever Vacations. The first criticism I offer on this cabin is the concept of "greed". Here, the greed for increased profits has impacted every element of our stay at this cabin, from researching it, the description by the owners, the active occupation of the cabin, and whether the owners ever follow up with our many, many, many complaints. 1. The attic loft is accessible by a dangerously steep ladder, yet the owners expect 2x people to sleep up there against the roof. Note that they do not offer a photo of that terrible living location! Greed of course...cram more people into this nightmare cabin. 2. The two queen sized futons in the loft are literally, literally covered in semen stains on both sides- it was completely disgusting. No linens fit or are provided for the loft futons either. You have to sleep on filth, or find flat sheets to try to lay over. Gross! 3. WIFI is a joke. 1-2 people on the server get reasonable bandwidth. 16x people- forget it. Worthless and false advertising. Greed again here. 4. Driveway is dangerous. Many guests have complained in the guest book and on Yelp about it- yet the owners do nothing. Greed. They need to put a vehicle reinforced fence or barrier on the drop-off because it is a nightmare...seriously- and guess what- they do not offer a photo of that driveway on any listing. Hmmm.... 5. The cabin was dirty, in disrepair, and rather cheap and worn. Again- greed. The main floor shower was built poorly and leaks run-off water into the floorboards so it drips onto the bottom floor. The hot tub was nasty, not maintained, and the steps up to it broke due to dry rot and disrepair. The management company had the nerve to want to "talk with us about those steps" when we complained about the stink and filth of the hot tub, as if we had broken them intentionally! 6. False advertising- and Mountain Seduction ripping off guests. We went down to the "private pool" on the property to use it, as advertised in Mountain Seduction and in the cabin. We were approached and informed that our cabin had not signed up for it, and we would have to pay $300 for the week for everyone to access the pool. We haggled and paid $150, and then complained to the property managers that eventually got the entire charge dropped. But this was another example of the greed. We guests are just numbers and sheep here- they are trying to suck every dollar out of you while not giving you the return on service or accommodations. 7. Very small kitchen; cannot handle 16x people. Seriously. Rip off. 8. Garbage service slow; had to call them repeatedly; and 16x people run out of toilet paper fast; not enough paper or towels for us either- again; all about the profit here, nothing on service. 9. The decor was cheap; worn out- light bulbs long dead still in sockets; dirt everywhere on the floors, under beds, on counter tops....there is no cleaning here between guests other than emptying trash cans and wiping down the kitchen. Couches worn out and filthy. Wooden chairs at main table falling apart and broken. No vacuum or mop or any cleaning materials at all- which further drives guests into an inability to clean up minor things, and makes the cabin even more dependent on maintenance (which is clearly failing here miserably). Greed, greed, greed. 10. I cannot stress this enough- this cabin is a rip off. Filthy; falsely claims to sleep 16x when it really sleeps NO MORE THAN 12. Any number above that is a bold lie and a desire to grind more money out of you at the clear expense and discomfort of anyone willing to rent this place. If they fixed all the things on this list and listed the place at 12x people for rental, I would say "great work!" But I am banking on greed driving either no action at all, or a superficial and symbolic gesture of fixing only the very cheapest of these issues. Plenty of people will not read reviews and rent this place. Heck, my family member did- and plenty more fools are out there. I will not be one of them again. read more

This company does not deserve even one star. We arrived to our cabin at 11:30 PM, in the complete darkness because they did not leave the porch light on for us, only to find that they had given us the wrong code to unlock the door. After 30 minutes of trying to unlock it, and speaking to the most unprofessional, rude "supervisor" Kim, we were given an alternate code and made our way inside. Kitchen was missing essential items that we had been counting on using that night. The place was not nearly as nice as it appears in the photos. We went to the office in the morning, just looking for an apology, and once again encountered the most unprofessional management. We asked for our money back, packed up our stuff, and moved on to a beautiful cabin with a company called Timber Tops. It is apparent that the management staff at Cabin Fever does not care at all about their guests or their company. **If you'd like an amazing experience all around, I highly recommend Timber Tops for booking. We were even given a discount by them for our trouble with cabin fever. That's how you do good business! read more

Here is a good one! Drove 11 hours for them to give us wrong paperwork and cabin. So when we arrived we were lockedout cause the keycode didnt work for 45min. Once we got in tv and internet didnt work. So maintenance was there for the few hours we were awake. Upon finding out they give us wrong cabin - reason why paperwork didnt match up with the doors keypad code they messed up my bookings and didnt have me down for what I paid and booked for. So we ended up having to drive home the next day. What a waste of my time and time off of work. Literally drove 11hours slept for 5 in the wrong cabin and then drove home the next morning. Didnt get to do any hiking viewing...nothing. Had mwy dogs too so the poor pups had to sit in a car for basically 2 days straight. Everyone was beyond rude here as well when we tried the next day to make due od it and hike anyways nobody would give us any info on trails or anything. DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE to stay here or visit TN in genetral. Worst vacation ever. read more

My group and I stayed in Pure Indulgence from May 11-12. It's exactly what it is named, "Pure Indulgence". The staff at Cabin Fever are as friendly as you'd ever hope to find. Check in was a breeze, no problems, was in and out in minutes, check out was just as easy. The cabin was GORGEOUS!!! Had everything you could ask for and more. Property was poorly managed. Amenities that were advertised were not working. Pool and theater room were out of order. Took repeated calls any many many service visits interrupting our trip to get things fixed. We had one of six nights to use the pool. Bathroom heater was broken for our entire visit. When temps outside are in the single fidgets, it makes the bathroom unable to be used because of the cold. Shower door broken in other bathroom. Water filter was many many months past due for changing. Spent the entire week running from a mouse that they never tried to come and get rid of. Beautiful property that is so poorly maintained. Just sad. It made for a very stressful vacation. The company says 24/7 service but took days to respond. Very very disappointing. read more

I have rented from CFV 3 times now. Two years ago they called me to tell me the cabin I had rented was no longer available and while they recommended another cabin we ended up getting one we picked but was not in the area we wanted and was pretty far from the attractions (about 30 min) we had small kids in the other family so this was hard to come back and forth. Fast forward to last Monday, July 6 and imagine my total shock when I get a call from the Manager telling me the cabin we rented was not going to be available.(Mountain Seduction) Both of our families were already en route to Pigeon Forge. I was very upset and this certainly tainted the beginning of our trip. I told her how unhappy I was, called our other family and proceeded to head to Pigeon Forge. About 2:30 I arrived at the CFV office. I immediately asked to speak to Kay, the manager. She was very apologetic but the bottom line was our families did not get what we rented. First, no community pool in the neighborhood. For us, with kids, this was a HUGE part of our entertainment. She phoned me later that afternoon to tell me we could all use a pool about 4-5 miles away, not convenient! Second, the new cabin an "upgrade" or so she said. I begged to differ. It was much, much smaller, did not seat our entire family, slept only 8 instead of 16 and had 2 decks instead of 3, and 2 bathrooms instead of 3. I am uncertain as to why Moonlit Hideaway was more-the other had a community pool and more amenities. They advertise that Moonlit has a theater room. It does not. If you call a couch, big screen tv and family room a theater room then I beg to differ on that as well. Rocking chairs were broken outside and the house overall just wasn't that clean. I had one child who had to sleep in a chair because we could not pair kids of opposite sex together in bed. We lost our privacy and space and had 4-5 people sharing one bathroom. Upon check in with Kay I asked about the grill. Mountain Sed. has a gas grill, the new one did not. I asked if I could be re imbursed for charcoal supplies, she said no. I asked if they could comp up some attraction tix since we lost the pool, again no. She told me to go check the cabin out and if I didn't like it to come back. I asked if we could get a refund and go elsewhere, again no. They have a no refund policy. So do you see that I was stuck here? We had no choice. They felt that by giving us another cabin that was $25 more was acceptable. It wasn't that's just settling. They should've busted their chops to make this up to us by going above and beyond. After reading some reviews on the internet I am wondering if they do this often. I see where this has happened with guests several times. The only resolution I got was a 15% off my next rental. Not a big deal. That's really not good a way to make up for their issue. To have this happen one time, OK. But twice? Unacceptable. After I have read 2 more reviews on the cabin we were supposed to have I wondering now what the real problem was with Mountain Seduction. CFV has many rentals, this one has been singled out several times that I have read since I returned from my trip. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and have also sent an email to the operations manager in hoping to come to some sort of resolution. I have also left a review on Trip Advisor --not to be spiteful but to let people know what happened to our family, not once but two times. We planned for this trip, researched and called CFV many times before we chose Mountain Seduction. To have this all fall thru at the 11th hour while we were on our way was just unacceptable. read more

We rented Creekside Romance for a few nights. Upon arrival we found out of cabin had not been cleaned properly. We found personal items in the bathroom floor, food and coffee on the floor and neither of the two bathrooms had been cleaned. We called CFV to make them aware and ask if there were any other cabins available. Of course they said no but they would send someone to clean. About 15 minutes later a man knocked on the door with a rag and spray bottle to "clean" the restrooms. This rental was less than satisfactory compared other places we have rented from. It's pretty bad when I have to go to the store to get my own cleaning supplies to clean myself. read more

We stayed at Mountaintop Lodge with a group of friends in June. It was extremely dirty. Some of the rocking chairs and a futon was broken. We even found a roach. For the amount we paid for the week, we expected a lot nicer cabin. read more

Just came home from honeymooning at Soaring Arrow thru CFV. The cabin was spotless and actually better than advertised; it is advertised as a 2 BR with 1 queen and 1 king, but there were 2 kings instead.We had a minor issue with the hot tub but maintenance came and got it taken care of. We brought two dogs with us who also had a great time exploring a new neighboorhood. Basically everything about the cabin and the staff was fantastic! Two little things keep me from giving it 5 stars: the grill is a cheap public park type of grill; it works but nothing to get excited about so I only used it once in 5 nights.The other thing is that its not secluded at all (they don't claim it is). This time of year most of the cabins were vacant all week so it was no biggie, but in season it must get crowded in that development. Other than those two little issues I loved everything about both the cabin and CFV!!! read more

DO NOT USE CABIN FEVER VACATIONS!!!!!!!!They cancelled my cabin 2 days before my trip,then tried to give me a cabin 2 towns away with less amenities that my other cabin had with no compensation.Try to find a cabin 2 days before vacation is impossible.They gave ultimatums basically take it or leave it.Without my knowledge they claim they refunded my reservation and I didn't even know till I called them and still no refund with my bank.No cabin and no refund!I had to call 5 times continually to ask for proof of this refund an all they sent was a letter,which my bank said means nothing to them.Nothing has been processed.And every employee there was rude! read more

Overall experience was ok but with all the selections in the area you have better options. The price was a bit higher than I paid in the past but I was looking for a special weekend for my wife and I. The cabin we reserved was ok and pretty clean (although needed dusting something awful). Area was pretty convenient, cabin setting was pretty nice. Where cabin fever goes wrong is their skimping on toilet paper etc. We travel a lot and this toilet paper is the worst I've experienced! It was just cheap stuff. And this is the first time there wasn't at least a serving of coffee which meant I had to run out the first am and buy stuff before everyone got up. Regardless, trip was ok but for price we paid I felt cheapened. These may sound like small issues but coupled together it just makes the getaway less enjoyable. I should have stayed with the rental agency we used the last few times. I know better now. Oh, and lastly, the fees were ungodly. When I asked about it I was told it was for hot tub etc, which applies regardless of season and whether you use it. Again, I don't mind paying more for quality stuff but this wasn't it. read more

We had a vacation planned a year in advance with a party of eleven. We were making payments toward this vacation throughout the year. About a month and a half before we were to go, they called us and told us the owners of the cabin pulled the cabin so they would have to move us to a different cabin. They only had one other option for a cabin and if that didn't work they would refund our money. So if we didn't go with it our vacation would have to be cancelled. Once we got there we noticed that they were suppose to have a sleeper sofa on the main floor, there was not one. We had four toddlers and we had all the sleeping arrangements made out to their description on their website. We called them about it and they said they didn't own the cabin and the owners can change the furniture as they wish. So again they took no responsibility for something that was wrong with the cabin. The cabin was not clean. There were beer bottles under the front porch, you could see as you drove up. The shower on the main floor had clumps on hair on the wall!! The one sleeper sofa seemed to have dirt around the mattress, dirt/dander that had been there awhile. There was nothing else I can pinpoint that was not clean, other than it didn't feel clean. If they couldn't clean something they knew was used, the shower, then what else wasn't clean. I would NOT recommend using Cabin Fever Vacations. They take no responsibility for anything that goes wrong and just blame "the owners". read more
