"Mountain Seduction" sleeping area in storage area above loft
    Jill Z.

"Mountain Seduction" - managed by Cabin Fever. Cabin is described as 2-bedroom for up to 16 people. It is actually a 1-bedroom with a loft, and by NO WAY should more than 8 people stay there. A family member booked this cabin for our family vacation/reunion. We had 8 adults and 7 kids. It felt like we were staying in a commune given how crowded the house was. Six of the adults and 4 of the kids had actual beds to sleep on. My husband and I were left to sleep on futon pads that had so many body fluid stains it was repulsive. To add insult to injury, futon pads were located in what can be basically described as the crawl space above the loft. The roof prevented us from actually being able to stand up. I cannot forget to mention in the insanely steep, very tall ladder you had to use to get to the crawl space. Two of our children had to sleep on the pull-out sofa bed, which clearly had seen better days. Our third child didn't even have a bed, but luckily we had brought an air mattress. Additionally, there were not enough linens (towels, bed sheets, etc) in the house. We had to scrounge up sheets for the disgusting futon pads as there was no WAY I was going to allow any part of my body to touch those revolting pads. Aside from horrible sleeping arrangements, the cabin itself has not been well maintained nor taken care of: chairs were broken, step into the hot tub was rotten and broken, railing on front steps was precariously loose, bathtub on main floor leaked, etc. The CFV even had the audacity to try to blame the rotted hot tub step on us. The cabin also supposedly came with a pool. A small sign in the kitchen instructed us to use the pool at the Community Center, about 5 miles away. We (wrongly) assumed that the cabin was on some sort of list that would allow us to get in for free as the pool is NOT free. Nope, we had to pay to get in. More importantly is that it's located next to the sewer treatment plant. The one (and only) day we went to this pool, we were nauseated by the stench of feces. Even the lifeguards were plugging their noses at the stench. We then found the pool in the Black Bear Ridge Resort. We were told that it would $5/person/day. I explained to the BBRR representative that we are renting a cabin through CFV, they (CFV) advertised a pool as part of the rental agreement and that the kids were dying to swim. I managed to work out a pool pass for our group, but it cost me $150 for 4 days of use. Last, certainly not least, the driveway is incredibly and dangerously steep. The parking area has a BIG drop off with no fence to prevent driving over. Based on the guest book comments, a previous renter did drive their car off it, and the owner has yet to make the parking area safe. I, personally, would have NEVER rented this cabin, but (as mentioned before) it was arranged by a family member. Red flags for me: the last positive comment is from years ago and a 2-bedroom that can accommodate 16 people? No way. CFV did reveal to us this cabin is routinely referred to as the "party cabin" within their office. HORRIBLE.

We rented from CFV twice, both for a week in mid-February. Our first cabin, Secluded Romance, was amazing and superbly clean. We had great weather and loved every minute. If we, however, experienced an ice storm like we did on our second visit, we would not have been able to get to our cabin. The dirt road is curvy, steep, and fun! Our second visit included our 2 kids in Splashing Sunrise. We made it up to the cabin and were "iced" in all week. We had plenty of supplies, and an indoor pool and hot tub, so we didn't worry. Unfortunately, the pool temp was 70degrees and the hot tub was dirty. We came home with nasty skin rashes. I might rent again from CFV, but not Splashing Sunrise. Due to the ice storm, there was little they could do for us. We actually used dirt from the side of the hill to get some traction to leave the cabin on our final day.

We stayed in a beautiful cabin in a fantastic location. It was close enough to be convenient but was far enough to be truly secluded. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

    The way up to paradise

We rented the lone wolf cabin. It was out of our comfort zone coming from Chicago to being 5 miles up the Smokey mountains. The way up for the first night was a bit scary but the view in the morning was quite rewarding. Stop be sure to arrive before sunset. We saw wild turkeys and deer. Thank god..no bear..The cabin was huge and comforting for us 5 with plenty more room. We definitely enjoyed all amenities the cabin offered..hot tub on the deck, Jacuzzi tub, pool table, modern kitchen which we used every day, the grill on deck with breath taking view while cooking and zipping on some wine..as soon as I got back home I already recommended this to a friend who is going to have a family reunion next month. All I can say is..GREAT TRIP..GREAT TIME...we'll go back soon.

"Journey's End" ~ managed by Cabin Fever Vacations. I have only high positive regards for the staff. They all went up and beyond in customer satisfaction and service! The cabin was reserved 18 months in advance for a family reunion in the Smokey Mountains. I kept my fingers crossed that the property would be as nice as it was marketed and it exceeded my expectations. We stayed for eight glorious nights. Journey's End was a builders dream come true. The cabin was used as a home / office / model during the development of the "Cedar Falls Resort". I am one who appreciates the foresight in the development and the best development of the land. The elevation / views are breathtaking; almost 360 degrees for your viewing pleasure. The cabin has all the horns and whistles available to contractors in 2007. From the oversize custom doors; wooden structural beams; the metal roof; high UV coated casement windows; four AC units; over the top interior and exterior lighting packages; beautiful ledgestone retaining walls for the pool and steps; custom deck fencing; designer plumbing fixtures; designer light (ceiling fan) fixtures; stainless steel Viking Kitchen Appliances; every electronic upgrade; etc.... All my "credit" goes to the builder of this beautiful cabin. His dreams are there for all to enjoy! So sorry for the 2008 market hiccup. Do go and enjoy; but most of all take care of this lovely property for those who will follow.

That was 41 years ago but we spent time up here for our 40th anniversary this year - using them exclusively since we found them about 20 years ago. I think the ownership went thru change since we've been coming here but we exclusively and use them at least 3-4 times a year. Their special for last minute trips is incredible. After 20 years, 3-4 times a year (so we've stayed in most of them), each one has always been clean as a whistle. We have figured that we have stayed with them over 60 trips. At least. We've never stayed with anyone else the past 20 years! Our favorite place is at the top of the mountain at the water tower. However three of the four we always stayed at and liked the best, all but one was burned down in the Gatlinburg Fire of 2016. It burned down to their concrete footprint. They finally got one of them rebuilt and just opened back up so we are leaving Friday to go there. It's at the very top of the mountain and you can see for miles and miles. Yet it is only 5 min from the Parkway, behind Dollywood. You would think a cabin on the to of the mountain with its incredible view would be miles from the Parkway but it's only a short 5-8 minutes. I can never praise their staff enough. They are awesome people to work with. Some of our favorite restaurants we never miss are the Applewood for bfast, Guy Fieri's restaurant and arcade ( this is awesome and relatively new and great to go because there is a Crumbl and Ice Cream shop next door that are for that sweet tooth we always seem to get worse up there), Chop House, Cherokee Grill (Gburg), Ogles Farmers Kitchen ( I think this is the name. It right close to going in for Applewood. We've just recently found this and have been multiple times), The Pottery Barn Cafe is usually our first place we hit coming into town. There is also Paula Deens, Chop House, and Johnny Carino's. This is just for starters. Stay here and you won't regret it!!!

Friday night we got there and had to call 3 times!! First we didn't have any hot water, then we found bugs in the beds and on the floors, the upstairs bathroom toilet didn't have a chain so it wouldn't flush, the downstairs fireplace wouldn't work, the washer barely had any water running, and the top of the cabinet had food/ trash as if someone was throwing food over the stairs. After a long car ride like that we all wanted to take a nice warm shower before bed. We have stink bugs and lady bugs in Florida so we know what they are/ look like but we searched one of the bugs and it said bed bugs... When we called we were told no body would be out until the next day and it wasn't an emergency. No matter what type of bugs who wants to sleep in a bed full of bugs after a long drive like that?? The next morning the maintenance guy came out to fix these issues and he was a very nice guy. He listened to everything we said and by the time we came back we had hot water, the toilet flushed, and the fireplace was working! We got a phone call and they said they would send someone out to clean the house but everything looked the same way as when we left that morning. We all took showers and figured why not try an enjoy it since we already spend this much money and wasn't offered to be moved to another cabin or anything. Just that they would contact us after our stay... Sunday morning we woke up with no hot water again.... They came back out and got it fixed again and then we had it the rest of our trip. Though it ended there, NOPE!! Sunday night my sister went to lay down and she had water leaking on her bed. We didn't call because it was 2 am and they would have just said it's not emergency again. She slept on the couch that night. Monday went good we stayed in because it started snowing. My boyfriend cleaned the filter to the washer because it was full of dirt and the washer started working AMAZINGLY ! Monday night my sister went to lay down again and the same thing happened once again. Tuesday morning after we packed and got ready to leave we check the room to make sure we didn't leave anything behind and it started leaking in 4 more spots!!! That bed is going to be ruined and it is going to start stinking. So to say the cabin is ready and clean is a LIE!! It looked as if the cabin hadn't been clean in forever and when we started the shower it seemed like the water hadn't been ran in a good while. The cabin and view was beautiful but to pay as much as we did to have to come to something like this is CRAZZYY!! I didn't come on vacation to clean/ have to call someone everyday because there is a new problem everyday. My mom did get a call but all they could do was refund the cleaning fee and a 25% off coupon for our next trip. Yes we are thankful for something but I feel as that just isn't enough and we will definitely not be booking with them again. And if it was the cleaning company I would definitely get a new one because they don't know how to clean. I have my own business and WOULD NEVER DO THIS TO SOMEONE!!! Absolutely fabulous more like absolutely sh***y!! I am sure I have missed something but I would definitely consider this before booking...

After payment, we were presented with a contract that included several provisions we had not previously seen or agreed to through Vrbo. These included broad liability clauses, requirements to provide a credit card for open-ended charges, guest responsibility for certain maintenance issues (such as plumbing), and limited owner responsibility for essential systems like HVAC, water, and electricity. Additionally, the agreement outlined strict cleaning expectations despite a cleaning fee, along with potential additional charges (e.g., for dishes), which raised questions about how fees are applied. When we reached out for clarification, the response we received indicated that the agreement was "standard," but did not address our specific concerns or the fact that these terms were not disclosed prior to booking. From the start, the experience was off-putting. At check-in, the young man at the front desk was unfriendly and came across as rude. Unfortunately, things only got worse once we arrived at the cabin (Above Walden's Creek), which is in serious need of repairs and a deep cleaning. Within the first hour, we realized the cabin was far below acceptable standards. It was filthy. The shower liners had mold, the A/C was not working, the washer and dryer did not function properly, and the furniture was in poor condition. Toilets and sinks were bubbling and backing up, nails were sticking up out of the floors, and tongue-and-groove ceiling planks were popping off in at least three areas. Worst of all, there were roaches and bugs throughout the cabin. We contacted Cabins USA multiple times. While they sent people out on a couple of occasions, nothing was actually resolved. So, for the stay, our stay was subpar. All the issues listed below were reported during the stay, but no response or corrective action was received. We left a day early and stayed near the airport for a day of comfort. Here are a few of the highlights. -The single comforter provided had visible holes, indicating poor maintenance. -Dust was present on all surfaces above five feet, suggesting that cleaning was superficial and limited to only easily reachable areas. -The washing machine operated only with hot water, limiting its functionality. -The dishwasher, while operational, had melted racks, making it impractical for proper loading and cleaning. -The pool table had tears in the fabric, rendering it unsuitable for use. -The arcade game machine's joysick only functioned intermittently and supported single-player mode only. -The jacuzzi was visibly dirty, containing unknown debris and oily residue, making it unsanitary and unusable. Now for the last is actually the biggest, security: Upon check-in, the company took a photocopy of our credit card--both front and back. In 2026, this practice is outdated and poses a significant security risk. Due to the exposure of full card details, we had to cancel and replace our credit cards immediately upon returning home. This experience fell significantly below expected standards for a rental cabin, particularly in terms of upkeep, cleanliness, guest support, and data security but yes, the mountains are nice and I enjoyed the view.

The wedding definitely turned out to be memorable, and that is the important thing! This was made evident by the posted signs viewable from the rear balconies whereby the neighbors indicated something about the need for guests to keep noise down and be respectful because people live here, etc. Well ... these same neighbors were plainly resentful of the fact that normal party music was played at the wedding reception (music that properly ended at 10:30 pm) and were intent on underscoring the point by BLARING loud outdoor radio music until 2:30 AM and then starting up again at 5:30 AM so as to disturb the guests' ability to sleep.
