I enjoyed the staff. Location was great for me. Just cant be in a rush. There were mornings I went right through... but others not so much. Why am I not surprised? If a shop such as this can't hire personable folks to work the counter and drive up, they are doomed to close. I had been here on several occasions and gave them plenty of chances. There was always something missing at the self serve counter for condiments, serveware, etc. either they were out or they didn't have it to begin with. A friend and I would meet for conversation and NEVER did anyone ever come to bus or wipe tables in the section where we sat or offer refills of beverages. I used to absolutely LOVE cabin coffee but it is under new ownership now. The new owners are running it into the ground. My first experience with the new owners was back in March 2022, I stopped in and ordered 2 large lattes on my way to work. The cups were handed to me and I thought it was odd the cups weren't warm but I needed to get to the office so away I went. I drove to work and sat down at my desk to take my first sip (may I add, I work 0.8 miles from Cabin Coffee) and my drink was ice cold. When I opened the lid it appeared to just be a cup of fresh out of the fridge milk. No coffee. I emailed the store owners of the Waterloo location + asked for a refund. Their response back was "Maybe you shouldn't drive your latte to work and then sip it, that's why it was cold" EXCUSE ME!? I have ordered many lattes in my life and know for a fact they stay hot/warm for a little while if made correctly. I was appalled the owner was making it out to be my fault. Against my better judgement I went again in May 2022. I ordered an iced Italian cream soda with Butterscotch as I have had this many times before and love it. There was 1 car in front of me in the drive thru, it took over 20 minutes for that car to be served just 1 item. I than pulled up, paid, received my drink, and was than asked "How much would you like to tip today?" EXCUSE ME?! I know you did not just ask me point blank to tip you? They do not work off of tips, they make a decent hourly wage, nor did I feel a need to tip for 1 drink that took 20 mins to receive. If this is how management is training their staff to treat and service their customers than I will absolutely not be returning back. I've voiced my experiences to friends and was advised they also no longer go due to poor quality & time management. (So I'm not a crazy Karen) SCOOTERS Coffee will be opening across the street and Starbucks will be opening a new location at the end of Kimball soon and I cannot wait! We needed a new and better option on this side of town/area for coffee. read more

They have been great to help with customer orders I send online. And my customers want to support local businesses, which is great. I wish they were a bit more organized. This place has pretty good coffee and food but the staff are awful--completely disorganized and distracted by chit-chatting. Six people behind the counter and it takes 25 minutes for three sandwiches, one of which is wrong (a week earlier they completely lost our order). Meanwhile a disabled person in a wheelchair is ignored for ten minutes while the people behind the counter bump into each other to serve the drive-thru. There seems to be no method or organization to how they are working. And they are rude when you try to ask questions. I like shopping local but they need to take a lesson from Starbucks and get their shop buttoned up. Nobody should be treated less-than because they are in a wheelchair. Amazing brews of coffee! If you find yourself with a sweet tooth I highly recommend their mocha, Mississippi Mud, Turtle or palomino frappe's might give you brain freeze but it will cure your sweet tooth! Friendly service, may be a bit of a wait but worth every second! read more

Adorable coffee place in the Waterloo CF area. Coffee was yummy bagel sandwich was good nothing extra ordinary but good nonetheless:) the ladies working there were very kind and it was a nice place to be without having to go to a big chain coffee shop :) I'll be back whenever I'm back in town for sure :) read more

This is a nice place for a cup, but I wouldn't try it if you are in a hurry...they have confused laid back with slow, I think. However, if I were on a different schedule, I may not have a problem with the service. They are very friendly, and make your order exactly the way you want. read more

Great coffee that tastes way better than starbucks. The atmosphere is pretty cozy as well. My only complaint is that if you spend more than a few minutes in the place you SMELL when you leave (they roast their own beans and it transfers to clothes). Nevertheless, I would rather get coffee here than a megachain any day of the week. read more

Coffee and other drinks are average. Nothing special. Not a fan of having a drive thru without a speaker system ( just order at the window) wait time can take forever. Food is ok. Have only eaten there twice but both times I wanted the everything bagel and they didn't have it so I had to get something else. I really don't like their limited hours and days. Closed at 4 pm and on Sundays??? Im often needing a "pick me up" around 4ish and would love a good cozy place to go to and read and have coffee on a Sunday, but it won't be here!! read more

I really really like this place. The coffee is great- the food is also really good. Staff is very friendly with great service. I actually like their coffee better than Starbucks. The only thing that stops me from going to cabin coffee is if I'm short on time. Starbucks is faster so if I drive by & see a long line I know I cannot stop. The rewards card is awesome. Love this place! The Palomino is a must try. A great place to get some work done or just get some work done. A family favorite.

After moving to the neighborhood in Waterloo I stopped at this little coffee shop. The coffee I received was very good though I found their prices above or at least equal to that of Starbucks which was a little surprising considering the homey atmosphere and the fact that they roast their own coffee. I think that is a significant advantage and the fact that they roast their own coffee and it was very good and very fresh. But it almost 14 dollars a pound for their take home that seems a little bit much. The inside atmosphere is very conducive to relaxing and spending some time drinking coffee and it is unfortunate that they are not open on Sundays and open for later hours so that customers may come in for a relaxing cup a good coffee read more

Very happy with the service. I had a chicken salad sandwich (all lunches come with chips and a pickle). Also the Highlander Grogg was very good. Worth visiting if you can catch them when they're open (usually until 4, closed on Sunday). read more

I love love the coffee here. They roast their own beans, it's never bitter, the prices are reasonable. The people are great. I don't feel it's any slower than any other shop, I go there every morning I'm in town. The orange biscotti with white chocolate is amazing, and i don't even like biscotti normally. read more

The service at Cabin Coffee is consistently awful. I have given it many chances over the last 2 years, but today's visit confirmed my resolve to never patronize this establishment again. Regularly, I am not greeted until I have been there for 2-5 minutes, regardless of being in the drive thru or inside. I have seen the owner yell at her staff, then grunt a "hello" to me (or other customers), as if it were my fault for being in her way. She really shouldn't own a customer service business. read more

It is ok not steller like Cup of Joe but ok. I think they rely to heavily on Gharadelli chocolate to do their selling. Almost every drink has it in there! Sometimes the drive through can take just as long as Starbucks. Up side they have great customer service and remember drink regulars. Downside would like to see a little more with the drink menu. read more
