Got an email that most, but not all of an online order was ready for pickup at the Hazelwood Cabela's. Went there to pick it up, and first checked to see if my missing items were available on the shelves at the store. They were! Went to customer service, and after waiting a few minutes, a lady appeared. She got what she thought was my entire partial order, but was only a small part of it. She finally found the rest of it and brought it out. Then I asked if I could just go get the remaining items from my order, that were on the shelves. She said no, that's not how it works, and got kind of snotty about it. I asked why, since they were sitting on shelves, could I not get them, and then when those items from my order arrived, they could just be put on the shelves. Again, she said that's not what they do. So rather than satisfy and service a customer, I have to make a second trip when my items arrived, whenever that might be. Bad service, and rude on top of it. read more

Literally just left there. We went to take pictures with Santa and while there, we decided to let the kids choose small toys. We get to checkout and my little boys toy had no tag on it. We spent 15 minutes at the check out line while they tried their hardest to find the price on this car. I asked if they can just charge us $8 for it and we'll be on our way. They couldn't even do that. When I tell you that this car isn't probably worth $2. It was a small little flip car. They had 2 extra people come to the register investigating the cost of this car. They honestly could've said "it's Christmas. Go ahead since we can't find it in our system." Nope. Once we said forget about the car. They took it and walked away. I feel like I always have a bad experience at this Cabela's. I haven't been here in 5 years. I now know why I stayed away. read more

bass pro and cabela's are the worst for buying firearms extremely overpriced. when at bass pro s.lindbergh i asked to look at a gun the rude guy behind said they only allow one gun out at a time, there was someone else looking at a gun and the rude guy behind the counter said when that customer is done then i can show you the gun. waited 20 minutes just to see the gun and put it in my hand. after that i went home and order the gun online sent it to my ffl dealer. that's how i fix rudeness also saved 115.00 on the purchase. read more

Bargain!! Plus checkout the price dropped to $7. Then the cashier rubbed the chip on my card & got it to work! This made me think of discounted slacks I bought years ago that I still wear. I've been to Cabela's three times over the past two years. Once to return and re-order something, and twice to make instore purchases. Their customer service was excellent when I had to return a jacket that was given as a gift and wasn't the right size. Because they didn't have the right size in store, I had to order it and it was delivered to my house. The second time was to buy a gun cabinet for my son and a pair of steel-toed shoes. Yesterday it was to purchase a rain jacket for me. I was really pleased that they had jackets in my size and I had several types and brands to choose from. Looking around the store, it seemed like they had everything you needed to outdoor activity. They also have a huge mountain in the middle of the store that has several different types of animals on it. One person said that she did not want to see all the dead animals but I have a feeling that these are made of plastic and covered in fake fur. Would I come back here? Yes, when I need something for the great outdoors. And that's the way it is. read more

I'm torn on this place. Hubby loves looking at all the antique firearms, but I can't stomach all the poor dead animals everywhere. I know, I'm weird. I suppose if you are a hunter or gun enthusiast, this is the place for you. However, if you are a girlie girl who loves animals, this is most definitely not the place for you! Everyone is always friendly and the place is well organized and clean. They do have some cute clothes for kids if you are into camouflage. Eww. I do really miss the rest of the mall here. What a hunter's paradise! This place is a hunting store, museum, amusement park, and zoo all in one. You can find whatever you need for your hunting needs. You get to hold the guns and other weapons. This place had everything! There was a room that displayed antique guns in cases. There was a virtual reality gun or bow shooting game in a separate room. There were stuffed animals all over the place like a Natural History Museum. There were huge tanks with a variety of fish and humongus catfish. I also saw alligators and other swamp animals. I was so surprised that this place offered all this. Even though I know nothing about hunting and the great outdoors, I could spend at least an hour exploring this store. read more

I recently went in to pick up a firearm I purchased online from Cabela's Hazelwood MO on 07/27/2023. I was very disappointed in the manner in which I was treated. There is an elderly man working in the hunting department that is making it hard for African American people to pick up their firearms. I came into the store with my passport and was told by him that the only way I could pick up my firearm was to have a driver's license in addition to the passport. I then asked what policy that was and he told me he needed to know where I lived. I again asked him if that was the only identification acceptable and he stated yes and walked away in mid conversation. He was very rude and quite frankly whenever I come in there the men are alway rude and very dismissive when asking questions about firearms. I left and got my vehicle registration information and asked the host at the front door if there was any documentation on what forms of ID are acceptable and she stated there was but she did not know how to get that to me. She made no attempt to rectify or use her resources of other employees to get me this information. I asked to speak with the store manager and I was greeted by the firearms manager (Dave) who stated the elderly man was correct and I needed to bring in my drivers license with my passport as 4 points needed to be checked and the photo portion of the check had to be displayed on my secondary form of identification as a 2 point check has to be done on the photo. He then went on to insult my intelligence by saying the wording on the atf website was confusing. When I asked him if this was Cabela's policy or ATF he stated both. I then let him know the website for the ATF information is not confusing and quite clear that a passport is a valid form of id and I only need to provide a secondary form of id with my address and name on it he then asked to see it to see if he could make an exception for me. I declined providing this information at that point as I feel I was being discriminated against since I was a person of color. Once I cited the ATF rules and told Dave the importance of his workers knowing the correct rules and asked that the employee be reeducated on the acceptable forms of Identification he stated he would not speak with him as he needed to see what my secondary form of id was. The fact that the firearms manager outright said he would allow this employee to discriminate against a person of color with a passport is unacceptable. I asked both of them specifically if they were saying I needed my passport and driver's license to get my gun and they both confidently said yes until they realized I was fully aware of the acceptable forms of id. I also referenced the information that shows what acceptable forms of identification provided on the order pick up email from Cabelas and was still refused. This is unacceptable, they are giving out false information to prevent people of color from obtaining their firearm. I felt embarrassed and singled out for the color of my skin and I was only trying to support Cabela and utilize pay and pick up as my time is valuable. They processed a refund with out my request or consent. read more

Not a great experience. Took two trips, both ended poorly. The first time, after waiting in line in the archery department for about a half hour, I was told I couldn't purchase a bow because the staff was "off the clock". The store didn't close for another hour. The second time I purchased a firearm online. When I arrived to pick it up things went seemingly smoothly. When I got home I noticed the trigger lock wasn't removed from the weapon. After waiting for fifteen minutes to talk to a representative in the firearms department I watched a YouTube video and jimmied the lock free on my own. Should've shopped locally... read more

I love this place and have been here often as of late. Every time I need ammo or a Magazine I go here. They have really great prices and a great selection. I have been in many times and the service I get is awesome, they even have a guy that in the ammo isles making sure you find exactly what you need. The people at the Gun counter are very informative and take their time making sure you have all the info you need on the firearm you are looking at purchasing. There selection of clothing and boots is impressive. My kiddos love the animals and fish and literally beg to see them. Its a blast every time. Now if only they and everyone else could get bulk boxes of 22LR ammo back in stock on the regular. read more

Purchased a rather expensive revolver from the Gun Library to be shipped to an out-of-state FFL for transfer on a Tuesday. Was told the gun would ship the next day via FEDEX 2nd day, but the gun did not ship until the following Monday. The Gun Library manager could not adequately explain how this happened, and neither the transfer FFL dealer or myself were notified of either the actual shipment details (date shipped and tracking number) or the delay until I called them. From what I could understand, the gun sat on somebody's desk until it was noticed the following Sunday! This is unacceptable for a transaction involving interstate shipment of a firearm. I absolutely would not recommend dealing with these folks unless you can take immediate possession of your purchase. read more

They messed up my very first order and didn't tell me until I came in. One of the guns were labeled incorrectly, and I was told to come back, when I returned, I was told to re-register, and wait till called. This place is just excellent, except for one thing - there is no negotiation on prices. Most people know that, though. The prices on guns are MSRP and not much less. The occasional sale on guns is minimal. Aside from that, everything else is tops. I always get asked by several people if I need help in finding anything. And the helper will walk me to the other side of the store and put me directly in front of the item I inquired about. This kind of customer service happens for me all the time there. The gun guys are extremely helpful. Once in awhile I have gotten a guy who was not as knowledgeable as others, but so what. Ordering things from their website has always been a great experience, even when I had to return something. One time I was in line for a very long time to return something and I got exasperated and spoke out loudly to the people behind the counter, and they simply explained they were understaffed that day. But these things happen. I just read some of the negative reviews and they seem petty. A guy in Brentwood made a trip to Hazelwood to see a gun that was listed in stock when it wasn't. And he was irritated. Really? Their showcases are usually full and there's lots to see. I like this place. read more

They will never receive another dime from me. I've spent thousands at this store over the years, and after my experience today, I am done. An item in their gun library has been there marked as available online for an entire week. I drove all the way out today, and I couldn't find it. I asked an employee about it and he says it's been gone for almost as long as it's been marked available. He gave me a "not my problem" when asked why it was still marked as available and he rudely walked away. As I was walking out, a very friendly salesman asked if he could help, I explained the situation and he went out of his way to get the manager. I explained to the manager the issue, no apology, no "what can we do to make it right?", just a lame explanation and he basically told me where to shove my concerns. I would leave no stars if it were an option. First of all I have to thank our wonder administration in the White House and there hard push on gun control that only hinders law abiding citizens but I will never buy from any Cabela's or Bass pro again. I am an out of state resident who is in Missouri for 3 months with my family for work, I brought in a firearm to trade towards another firearm, along with my FL DL and CCWL. I had proof for every restriction for both states and was told I was good to go, but the firearms manager advised me that he didn't get any "odd feelings from me." But advised he wasn't going to do the deal because he found it odd that I was going to trade an out of state handgun towards a brand new shotgun even though I have nothing criminally on my record, never have been in trouble, no issues buying guns in the past, I also own class 3 items. Now if I wanted to, he would've still sold me the shotgun out right but wasn't willing to take the handgun because he found it "odd". Needless to say, I will never buy from Cabela's/bass pro again and if you do shop here, I would consider taking my business elsewhere. read more

Legit huge place to shop. All kinds of outdoorsie items can be had here. Sean H. and I came one night to check out some guns. It was there, that I fell in love with the Ed Brown 1911 and then became subsequently depressed that I didn't have an extra $3,000something just lying around to spend on a gun! Ffff! The staff was helpful and friendly, no complaints there. We also checked out their "General Store" in the far back of the actual store. A store within a store.....weird, huh? STORECEPTION. Or something. I saw they had a variety of food-stuffs such as venison jerky (mmm), candy, relish spreads, mustard dips, and of course fudge! I got a piece of the plain choco fudge to go and I moaned as I ate it later. Unffff. Most people seem surprised when I tell them that Cabela's sells fudge and that it is also freakin' awesome. So yeah, if you aren't the regular "clientele" of Cabela's and you find yourself in this huge store doing shopping for a friend or s.o. or something, go get some fudge! And have fun looking at all the taxidermy stuffed animals, hehehe. I was surprised that they actually had info for some of them, so it was sort of like going to a mini museum...of dead, stuffed critters. Bwhahaha. read more

If you order online and have the item shipped to the store be prepared to wait in line at the store. You'd think with all of the employees standing around they could speed up the process and have a specific line just for this or if anything- have employees from other departments come and help. I went there before my hockey game down the mall at the IceZone- would have missed most of it if I would have stayed just to get my 1 item. This process shouldn't take any longer than 10 minutes. Called customer service- they'd ship the item free directly to my house but it would have taken 2 more weeks. Apparently they have to ship the item back to the distribution center and then to your house. read more

I've shopped here several times now and once you get past the .. uhh.. targeted atmosphere of the place you can find some good stuff! I think they have a better selection of women's North Face apparel than the actual North Face store! My other favorite areas were the dog department - nice quality beds and toys there - and the food section. YUM, love the roasted nuts and they have some really cool dips/jars/pickled items. I went to Bass Pro and Cabelas looking for a new bow. Bass Pro was busy and had no one around. Cabelas I waited a half hour for a guy to help a lady with a bow so I left. I went back to Cabelas the next day saying today is the day. I'm just going to buy it. No one was around for 10 min until a man walked up and asked me all the right questions. He knew what I wanted, why, what accessories I needed, and how much money I was ready to spend. A lady came up while we were talking and he immediately said that if he can help me to let him know...??? He left me right away. I wish I could get as good of service as I've seen others get here. I'll try to find this product somewhere else or see if I can order direct and have a mom and pop shop help me with what draw I need and all that. Probably what I should have done to begin with I just wanted the bow ASAP and they had one in stock. read more

I've been to this Cabela's several times, but my first experience a couple months back was the best (not that the others have been bad). I came in for the first time with my boyfriend while he was buying a new handgun. Although he has guns, etc., I had never shot or even held a gun before. While he was looking at guns, the salesman (wish I remembered his name!!) asked if this was a gun for me, and I said not really as I had never shot a gun before. We struck up this whole conversation about learning to shoot, guns for beginners, etc. He recommended a beginners class just for women at Ultimate Defense (see my separate review for this!). Even though I made it clear I wasn't buying anything, he took out a few guns for me to see and get a feel for. I really appreciated his advice and interest. All other experiences here have been pleasant as well. There are always employees walking around, and they are always helpful with any questions or directions to what I'm looking for! read more

It's hit and miss, depending on what you want. It's not a huge Cabela's, so the section isn't great, and there's no bargain cave. The gun counter doesn't have a lot of offer, either. Many things that are listed for sale online won't be at this Cabela's in store. In some departments (like the shoe department) they employ teenage girls who don't know a thing about hiking shoes. When I go in to buy a $150 pair of hiking boots I need someone that actually knows a thing or two about hiking boots to guide me. On the other hand, I've got incredible discounts here... You just have to ask. They'll match any sale online (even if it's clearance online and NOT on sale in the store) and work with you to get the lowest price. If they're offering the $100/$25 off coupons, they'll let you split your bill. read more

Cabale's is great. The staff is always friendly and the shelves are always so full of fun things. It's got an edge over Bass Pro, since Bass Pro has been sucking in recent years. We were just here last night, then jumped over to Chevys for one of thos Rock N'Ritas I was telling ya'll about....Anyways, back to Cabelas... I have been here for hunting clothes, atv goggles, shoes, clothes, christmas shopping, you name it, I've shopped for it here...I LOVE Cabelas..not to mention, its kid friendly with all the stuffed animals..errrrr dead animals they have on showcase... they've also expanded with newly added dead decor, and i, myself even enjoy looking around the museum..seriously, what a cool place to shop...! and as Kate mentioned, the fudge..? I think this is one of the stores that you check out and just have to see for yourself. It's a very interesting place, almost like a mini museum with all the taxidermied animals that they have all over the place and other cool artifacts. I think it's safe to say that you have to be a specific kind of customer or at least looking for something specific to even step foot in here. This store is very outdoorsy but more on the area or field of hunting, fishing and shooting which caters to a certain kind of demographic. All the stuff they sell of which I have bought so far are very quality and were purchased at a very good price, it doesn't hurt that they have a 10% military discount as well. The hubby and I buy our shooting stuff here and let me tell you they have the best deals on ammunition and sometimes on accessories too. The staff at the gun counters and the whole store in general are always so friendly and despite being busy they always take their time to help and answer questions in detail. Other than that I think it's really fun to check out the general store in the back with all the interesting food items, there are definitely some good and delicious finds over there. If you love anything outdoors, this is a great place to go. I recently came here to purchase many items for an upcoming ski trip. I was able to easily find the women's clothing but the men's clothing already sold out. The staff was great in helping me find the clothing I needed online and I got free shipping as long as I can come get it from the store - score! I do recommend that they have gift boxes around the holidays, esp since they are a big seller of clothing. Nothing gets someone giddy like seeing a box from their favorite store. They were in the process of switching one of their animal scenes in the middle of the store over for the winter season so it was fun to watch it "snow" inside. There's just something about stores like this that really reach out to certain people. I know its a big staple in the St. Louis community and I'm hoping it here to stay. read more

This store is entirely crap. If I could give 0 stars I would do that. I waited for over half an hour to purchase a used firearm and they wouldn't even let me test the gun saying they couldn't let the customer to put anything including a snap cap in the chamber. That gun is famous for its extractor issue so I have to test it before I make the purchase. I gave up and left. Wasted my 45 minutes on nonsense. read more
