I was in snack and tea heaven LOL. I ended up buying several bags each ranging from half a pound to one full pound. Funny, as I was trying to leave, I would see something else I like. I actually got 3 rounds of goodies and spent a good amount of moola for them. Quality goods come with a price. At the end of the day, it's all worth it. Cheers to good health!!! 1st round: - Pork jerky (yummy!) - Dried squid (decent) - Black sesame candy (amazing and can be addicting!) - Golden Green Tea (100 packs) (really solid green tea!) 2nd round: - Dried jujube aka Chinese red dates (very sweet and delicious!) - Dried logan (taste is a bit peculiar, but still okay) - Dried tofu (haven't opened the bag yet... will soon) 3rd round: - Six Flavor Herbal Grass Jelly Tea (very herbal and refreshing!) - Longan Red Date Jelly Tea (same as above) - Assam Black Tea Jelly (same as above) I had a wonderful visit. I learned a lot about the health benefits from eating certain dried fruits and drinking certain teas. Thank you Diane and Ling for your warm welcome and hospitality at your shop. I appreciate your help and service. I also enjoyed our nice conversation very much. I'll definitely return here for more goodies.

The store is a bit small, but it's nice to see the selection of imported Taiwanese goods. It's around the time for Mid Autumn Festival so they had discounts of several different kinds of moon cakes which is neat. I'm only one person so I didn't partake, but if you have family and a lot of people to gift, this might be a great deal to take a look at. Staff are super nice and friendly, welcoming too and made lots of suggestions during my visit. Grab a basket as well if you are going to make a lot of purchases. I LOVE the little photo op they have in the front. The Formosan black bear holding the boba milk tea is super cute. Definitely take photos if you can. They also have other deals and specials there too, like a slight discount if you purchase the whole box of bottled drinks and more. Selection varies from refrigerated and frozen items (like fish, neat!), snacks, sauces, candies (I love the herbal candies, great for the throat), cookies, canned goods, drinks (the bigger box milk teas are yummy), and much more. I mainly went there since my friend got a new fancy toaster and I remember seeing imported Taiwanese garlic spread and condensed milk type sweet spread and thought it would be a great gift to get. Also saw the Science Noodle snack. The wizard on the bag always reminds me of my grandpa so I got one of those as well. Make sure to sign up for their membership program. Completely free and you can keep your points, they never expire, for your next visit! PS. Plenty of parking since it's a huge plaza.

Goods are a bit pricier than most, but not many places sell goods directly from Taiwan. As others mentioned, it was very clean and have a good selection. It looks didn't fit, so I put it back. A pharmacy worker (Chinese man) aggressively told me not to open it. When I explained I just wanted to see if it fit, he flew into a rage, started shouting and yelling the F-word at me, and falsely claimed I was abusing him. His attitude was terrifying and completely unprofessional. Should customers be verbally abused or sworn at by staff? "Why are some Chinese workers in Chinese markets so rude? They lack basic manners. This is especially true in Chinese stores and markets like TS Emporium. How do they even train their staff ? To insult customers? It honestly feels as though they are trained to be dismissive and insulting to customers rather than to help. I have personally experienced these situations multiple times.

Bottom Line Up Front: Great Wall Supermarket is a cramped…read moreChinese grocery store that has decent selection at affordable prices, but gets so busy it's not worth going to except right when it opens or right before it closes. The Layout: Like most other Asian grocery stores, it is poorly laid out. Great Wall's goal appears to be to pack in as much product as possible in its average-size store rather than focusing on the customer experience. In the produce section, you can barely get two carts to pass each other in opposite directions. Same story in the aisles with shelves. All it takes is one inconsiderate shopper to stop in the middle and there's an instant traffic jam. The Checkout Area: Same deal here. Great Wall packs pallets of products all around the cash registers to try to get people to make last-minute impulse buys when this area could be used instead to have logical serpentine lane dividers that could control the crowds who have lined up to pay. Instead, people form long lines that spill into the aisle with shelved products, preventing those who are still shopping from finding the items they need. The Customer Service: It's fine, which is a nice surprise -- most Asian establishments have horrible customer service with bad management. Workers aren't super friendly nor will they go out of their way to help you, but they are quick and competent. The Selection: The produce section has a good array of Asian fruits and veggies, but it's not as extensive as other places. They didn't have the one vegetable I was looking for: rau muong (AKA water spinach or ong choy) during my visit. There's a large meat and seafood section, a good amount of seasoning and dry goods, and a decent frozen food section. The Prices: Shockingly, the prices were moderate to affordable. A nice change of pace in the current economy of inflation and overpriced products. The Conclusion: Despite the selection and affordability, the layout, overcrowding, and lack of good management makes this grocer place low on my go-to list. Great Wall Supermarket is a very appropriate name, as the long lines of people waiting to check out blocks the aisles like the famous fortified structure in China. Go here only if you are low on options.

I had not been to this Great Wall (GW) Supermarket in over 6+ years, until a week ago. I was in the…read moreplaza to grab some food and while I was waiting for it to be ready, I stopped by GW to grab a few items. Last month, I shopped at the GW Supermarket location in Covina, due to the convenience of grabbing an item after meeting up with friends for lunch at Haven City. Even though Rowland Heights (and the surrounding areas) are saturated with Asian supermarkets, GW Supermarket is convenient if one is in the plaza grabbing a meal or a drink. It is always about location, location, location... I feel the prices are a bit higher than 99 Ranch or H Mart but it is due to convenience. I only needed to grab an item and looked around, but everything else was just so pricy that I just grabbed the one item. It seems with any GW location, the lines to checkout are always so long, and they had a few open. Parking here is always a bit tight, very narrow parking spots, and with the amount of storefronts is a lot. GW Supermarket would never be my go to, especially for the prices, the not very fresh produce, and the long lines, but it is convenient if I need to grab something if I am in the plaza.
