Eggplant Sandwich
Jan B.

This little local spot is a gem. Family owned. Small, worn in a good way. Counter seating. All made here. Super reasonable pricing. Very friendly staff and management. I had an eggplant sandwich on a roll. This was a long roll and could have easily fed two. What a great little spot!

THEC SPK with Hash browns
Chris M.

Decided to try a local place for a THEC SPK. Upon entering, you could see a lot of locals at the counter eating. The ambiance looks more like a classic luncheonette than a deli. There is no indication where to place my order, so I stood by the counter by the register. It took a few minutes before I was recognized. So I proceeded to order my THEC SPK on a roll. Then I decided to add another egg and hash brown. The one slicing the TH said it already comes with 2 eggs, do I want a third. I decided to stay with 2 eggs but added the hash brown. When I got the sandwich, there definitely were enough eggs. The cheese was nicely melted. There were 3 thick slices of Taylor Ham on it. Everything on the sandwich was cooked perfectly. I recommend this place and will be back. The reason for the reduction in the star was due to the service and lack of where to order. But, the food was top notch and worth every penny.

Jersey Style Sloppy Joe Sandwich: Turkey, Ham, Swiss, and Mounds of Coleslaw on Triple Decker Rye!! Sloppy But So Dang Delicious!!
Bill M.

This is Jersey baby and we take our Sandwiches very seriously. Especially when it comes to our beloved favorites like Taylor Ham and Sloppy Joe Sandwiches. So when I first heard some people talk about C & J's Deli making "the Best" around I had to stop in and see what all the hype was about. Now for comparison sake I'm gonna use three categories ok; 1)Flavor, 2)Portion, and 3)Quality. Got it? Cool let's get started.   First up is the classic Taylor Ham, Egg, and Cheese on a Roll which if You know anything about Me, You know all about My fondness for this glorious hand held masterpiece. So after diving face first into C & J's version I found it to be incredibly and uniquely delicious having tremendous one of a kind type flavor so we'll start there with Flavor being 5 out of 5, Portion was also 5 out of 5 with four slices of meat, a ton of cheese, and two scrambled eggs, Quality was yet again a solid 5 and so obvious that I could taste it in every bite. For those of You keeping score at home that's a perfect breakfast sandwich right there :D    Next up is their version of the Sloppy Joe Sandwich which is what this place is locally known for and with good reason too. This was a Stellar Sloppy Joe that was very flavorful and definitely not typical in any way. Pretty sure that Dressing they use is their own because I've never had a Sloppy Joe Sandwich taste this delicious, so yeah Flavor is a 5 out of 5, Portion was a 4 out of 5, alot of slaw but I've had more meat at other spots, and Quality was a solid 5 out of 5 with that delicious deli sliced Turkey, Ham, Cheese, Coleslaw all piled on that light, fluffy yet firm Rye Bread made for one heck of a delicious lip smacking experience  :D   Now overall I gotta say that the hype is totally justified and the locals around town definitely know what they're talking about. Of course they do, like I said it's Jersey and We take our Sandwiches very seriously. Add to that an incredibly friendly staff and the only thing left to say is: Come And Get Your Munch On!!

Celebrating my firstborn grandson's birthday yesterday and of course CJ's sandwiches are front and center

My family has been using CJ's Deli for many years for all of our events. Everyone raves about the sloppy Joe sandwiches and they go very, very quickly! Always friendly and great customer service. I appreciate that they accommodated a last minute order for me recently because a family member wanted an extra tray of sloppy joes because one wouldn't have been enough. Thank you so much!

I had high hopes for this sandwhich but I was overall very disappointed with this sandwhich. Let me start by saying that the staff is really nice and very approachable. I let them know that I was a tomatoe allergy and the lady taking my order, walked it back to the gentleman making the sandwhich. I saw him change his gloves before he started on my sandwhich. The meat to bread ratio was off. I felt like I had too much bread to meat. Also I asked for very light vinegar and I got the total opposite. The sandwhich was so sour that after a two bits it ended up in the trash. I can't speak for everthing that they make, but this visit was a miss for me and I am not sure that I will return.

I just started working in Madison so of course I need to start eating good places. My co worker ordered me an Italian sub from here and omg sooo goood. It was not drenched in oil and vinegar and the amount of meat was perfect. Bread was nice and soft. Flavors were superb. I wish I could compliment more but all I got was the sandwich but it was sooo good.

Passable bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. Not real keen on spending $5 for microwaved eggs and bacon.

Our waiter was nice and never made us feel rushed. They have a great beverage menu, different iced teas, mocktails, coffees and even refreshers! I went for the lavender lemonade but honestly I had a hard time deciding. So did my sister, she opted for a matcha and the hibiscus iced tea. I couldn't resist ordering the butter and jam board, it's the name of the restaurant, you have to order it! I had no regrets on this decision, was it a lot for two people? Sure. Did I enjoy it immensely? Absolutely. There were three butters- lemon, cinnamon, and berry. All 3 butters were amazing but my absolute favorite was the lemon. There were 3 jams- berry, strawberry, and I believe orange. I was obsessed with the lemon butter paired with the berry jam... heavenly! Honestly you can't go wrong with anything on that board. The breads for the spreads were croissant pieces, corn muffins and biscuits. I loved the biscuits the most. Unfortunately sister pretty was not feeling her best prior to our coming here, so she was content with the breads and spreads and opted to only get a smoothie with added protein. She said it was exactly what she needed and she perked up for the rest of our time together. I ordered the steak and eggs burrito and it did not disappoint! The steak was so juicy and tender- my only complaint is I wanted more!! The eggs were cooked perfectly, and there was a generous amount of avocado. It came out in a large plate and didn't have a side, I think they would do well to note on the menu or verbally when you're ordering that for an extra $___ you can get a side of fries, because I didn't think of it, but if it was told to me I definitely would have opted for a side. We had a great experience here and I would definitely go back and recommend to friends.

On Sunday 4/15/2026 I placed an online order via their own site at 3pm for a pickup time at 4:30 (for reference they close at 7pm) my card was charged over $50. I arrived at 4:22 to discover a poorly handwritten and placed sign on the door under the store hours (making it hard to read) saying they are closing at 4pm. I received a phone call that didn't display the business name and when you cross reference it doesn't show any association with the business from Chatham NJ (they are located in New Providence). They left no message so giving zero indication it was even from them, (technically I still didn't know if it was I'm just being charitable) and to make matters worse the call was made after the business was already closed for that day making it useless to me. I don't care for excuses they'll render under this comment if they ever see this to attempt to make themselves look better, I have all the proof and evidence like I said either theft of services maliciously or through incompetence, nevertheless stay away from them. I will never patronize them again and strongly urge anyone coming across this to do the same.

This place has been a go-to neighborhood deli for years, and it's easy to see why. It's one of those places locals will recommend without hesitation, and once you go, you get it. This is a small, classic deli where you order, grab your food, and go. Honestly, that's part of the charm. It feels authentic in the best way possible. Just a solid, well-run spot that focuses on doing one thing really well: making incredible sandwiches. Everything tastes fresh, the portions are generous, and the quality is exactly what you want from a true Jersey deli. You can tell they take pride in what they do. Places like this are getting harder to find, and Longfellow's has managed to stay a staple in the Morristown community for a reason.
