    Vietnamese coffee
    Keri A.

The two items I wanted to order, shrimp spring rolls and bulgogi bowl were OUT. They did have vietnamese coffee which I also wanted so I ended up just getting that. It was delicious but sadly I left hungry because they were running out of food on a Friday afternoon.

bland lukewarm chicken curry with rice

I recently dined at this French/Vietnamese cuisine restaurant with a group of four adults and four children, and the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. Service & Cleanliness Upon arrival, there was no staff guidance for seating, so we seated ourselves. While this was not a major issue, the booth we chose was dirty, with food scraps left on both the table and floor from previous customers. The two waitresses on duty failed to properly clean the area before seating new guests. I had to request that the table be wiped down, which should have been standard practice. One staff member attempted to clean the area afterward, but the situation had already reflected poorly on the restaurant's professionalism. Menu Discrepancy & Availability Prior to our visit, my sister-in-law reviewed the restaurant's online menu, only to be informed upon arrival that it was not accurate. The cashier explained that only select items from an in-house menu were available, displayed on a chalkboard. Many advertised dishes were unavailable, including specialty pho options. Customers were limited to beef pho or beef rib pho only, which was misleading. Order Handling & Wait Time We were informed that the kitchen was low on noodles and broth and needed time to prepare more, which we understood. However, during the wait, a separate family who ordered after us received their pho first, despite the kitchen being aware of limited inventory. This reflected poor order management and prioritization. After 30 minutes, we were told there was no more broth available. We were offered the option to wait longer for more to be prepared or receive a refund and order alternative items. Because part of our group had already received their food, we reluctantly chose to switch to rice dishes despite originally coming specifically for pho. Additional Order Issues When reordering, I attempted to add spring rolls, but the waitress informed me that the previous customer had taken the last one, implying the item was not freshly prepared or replenished. This further highlighted the restaurant's limited readiness and planning. Staff Preparedness & Professionalism The overall service felt inexperienced and poorly supervised. While staff age itself is not an issue, the lack of training, communication, and basic hospitality standards was evident throughout the visit. The operation felt disorganized, and staff appeared unprepared to manage even a moderately sized group. Food Quality The food was underwhelming and poorly executed. The pho lacked aroma and depth, tasting diluted. * The chicken curry resembled a bland stew, lacked salt and richness, and was served lukewarm. * The grilled pork rice bowl and lemongrass rice bowl tasted premade and reheated, with meat that did not seem freshly prepared. Between the poor cleanliness, disorganized service, misleading menu, limited availability, lack of staff training, and subpar food quality, this restaurant failed to meet basic dining expectations. I will not be returning. This experience reinforced that high star ratings do not always reflect quality or authenticity.

It shares a space as you walk in with a Boba place Mia and More. The servers were quick to take our name and seat us within 10 Mn. Simple menu with everything you would want. My only gripe as a vegetarian that there were limited options. But I asked them to take out fish sauce from my mock duck salad and they quickly understood and asked if I wanted a soy sauce instead. The salad was fresh, and mock duck sautéed well. We also had the Bun Bo Hue, which was told to me as better than the places on Eat Street such as Quang. So good was very good and service was fast. They have a large private parking lot. And longer tables for bigger parties of people. No Apple Pay to tap.

The decor was nice, the restaurant was clean, and you could tell the staff took pride in helping customers and keeping the tables cleared and ready. Service was solid the whole time. Even though they were busy, the owner still came over to check on us, which I appreciated. Parking wasn't the easiest, but the food more than made up for it. We don't live close, but this is definitely a place we'll make the drive back to.

I ordered the egg rolls, wontons, and the sesame chicken lunch combo. When we arrived, we noticed they had a lunch special available until 3 p.m. We asked if we could still order from that menu, and the woman taking our order pointed to her clock and said no. I glanced at my phone--it was 2:55 p.m. I asked her when the cut off time was and mentioned that their clock seemed a bit fast. She eventually let us order the lunch combo, but it was clear she wasn't thrilled about it. The interaction left us feeling a little awkward. As for the food--it was just okay. The wontons were bland and lacked any real flavor. The sesame chicken was underwhelming, missing that punch of sweetness and crunch I was hoping for. The side of rice tasted old and dry, like it had been sitting out for a while. The one highlight was the egg roll. It came out hot and fresh, crispy on the outside and filled with a good amount of veggies. It's definitely up there with my favorites. If I'm in the area again and my bestie is craving this spot, I'd be open to giving it another shot. Next time, I'd skip the combo and stick with the egg rolls, and maybe try her favorite dish--the lo mein. Hopefully, it'll be a better experience.

Enjoyed cream cheese wontons, sesame chicken, egg rolls, pork lo mein, and vegetable chow mejn. Everything was fresh, flavorful and delicious. Honestly, probably the best cream cheese wontons I've ever had! The amount of cream cheese in these things were incredible and fried to absolute perfection (non-greasy as well). The portions were very generous and we had leftovers. Staff were friendly and thanked us for our business. Great experience and I'll be back. Well thinking I would go to Pho Hua instead, I pulled intonthe Shuang Hur Grocer's parking lot thinking I'd grab a few things before heading north on Eat Street. Then I saw signs on the Shuang Hur building for a (new to me) Vietnamese joint in the same building. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! My Huong is an 8-top hole in the wall across the parking lot from the rear of El Nuevo Mariachi Restaurant. The place is homely, small, but brightly lit and plenty of day light through the picture windows overlooking Eat Street. It's a big contrast to Pho 79 type places that are dim and short on ambience. The clientele shows. Instead of just a bunch of Asians throwing down Pho, it's a mix like you'd see at Quang or Eat Street Crossing. I was seated right away, was greeted by a cheery Vietnamese lady, and ordered Hu Tieu Bo Khu (Beef Stew Noodle Soup.) It was a dish I haven't seen before even though I have been to so many Vietnamese places (see my other reviews and lists.) The dish came very quickly, and I was shocked that they didn't bring it with a veggie plate. Oh well. Well the best way I could describe Hu Tieu Bo Khu, its basically a pot roast over noodles. So the beefy broth like a less spicey version of Bun Bo Hue, with flavors of lemongrass and star anise, nicely garnished already with what would have been on a veggie plate. The broth was delicious, slightly sweet with the carrots, and the beef was fall apart amazingly stewed with deep flavor. There were other menu items like Curry Chicken pho and a Stewed chicken rice dish I'd have to return and try!
