I contacted Curt on 12/22/2025 after just moving into our New Sparks, Nevada Home and was Pleasantly Surprised that he would be able to Work on My Grandfather Clock That Day ! I purchased the clock back in 1986 while visiting the 'Black Forest' in Germany and it was Shipped to my then home in Diamond Bar, California. Since then it has Moved with me 8 More Times ! We had 2 clocks that weren't working ( One of them was in pieces as I was trying to repair) Took them to C&K and they gave me a estimate to repair which I agreed to. When we went to pick them up the bill was less than the estimate, how often does that happen. We are very happy with the work that was done. I have 28 yr old Howard Miller mantle clock that I paid $250 I have rebuilt 2 1/2 years. A day ago the hour chime made a loud thud. I looked inside and one of the chimes was bent and dislodged. I found C&K yelp and read the reviews. I was impressed and called Curt. He told me he had a idea of what could have happened and said to bring the clock. I took it to his shop and explained about the rebuild a couple of years ago. Last night he called to say that my clock was repaired and ready to go. He told me that my clock had all the original parts. It had never been rebuit! So I paid a clock repair shop that use to be on Virginia St. $250 for a cleaning if that was even done! Due to social distancing, we have been working from home. One thing on my list of "to get accomplished" was our clocks. My husband had inherited a grandmother clock and I had two clocks that were extremely old. I wasn't even sure my two clocks would ever work. I called C and K Clock and Curt was here that day. I had a old clock that I got when my mother passed away and I wanted it to make the chimes that I remember when I was growing up. So I took it to C&K to get it fixed. They are nice enough but not very professional. Kurt was supposed to meet us at his house, but he had his son do it. When we did drop it off his son was nice enough but didn't give a claim check or his card or anything, just said "We'll call you when it is ready". Three weeks go by and we didn't hear anything so I called him (Kurt) and he said he hadn't looked at it yet but he would that night. He called me later that evening and said he couldn't fix it, and that he spent 2 hours on it and it couldn't be fixed and that we owed him $50!! Again he wasn't there when we went to pick up the clock but his son was and said we tried to glue it but it didn't work, "Sorry". We paid the $50 but didn't get a receipt or anything. I searched for clock repair in Reno and selected the Yelp site. When I read the reviews for the listed businesses, I was not sure about C&K Clock. The next morning I got on the Howard Miller site and saw he was listed as the factory service provider for this area, so I decided to give him a chance. I scheduled him to come to my home to service the clock the next day. He arrived promptly and within an hour, had my clock working. I had overwound the clock weight and it hadn't been cleaned since 1983 and not oiled since 2012. I was very happy with the professionalism and will use him again in the future in the event the clock stops working. He made notes with the clock info so that if, for example, the chime stops working, he can order the part and perform the service in one trip, saving us both time and money. read more
