Worst Company i've ever worked with. I'm a big advocate of having a reliable shop to trust with your car , and i even wanted this to be the shop for me being that my shop that i've been going to for 5 years recommended them and they were close to my job. i gave the shop my car to check out the transmission due to jerking that i was experiencing in the trans, the shop told me that they did not see anything wrong with the trans. From there they tried to sell me another service. I was not against the other service that they offered, but i wanted to hear more in detail about it. The bad experience stated here. I asked to speak to the tech about it, and they refused to let me speak to the tech and give me more detail on what i was paying for. and it left a bad taste and my mouth but i took it for a grain of salt and assumed i was over reacting. later in the day after receiving my car back my girl noticed that our seat would no longer adjust and the button for the seat was pushed in. I then called the shop to find solution. they then tried to charge me another 100 diagnostic to check the situation rather then just looking at the seat that was damaged after. I took it to the shop to talk to the owner and he yelled in my face as i remained professional and calm as i had my work gear on and could not make my employer look bad,and i have it all recorded. At parts i asked him why is he yelling when i remained calm. He then digressed and then went back to yelling. Probably the most frustrating experiencing i ever had. It was like talking to a controlling parent. I won't bash the shop because i'm sure they do good work. but working with a company that has integrity is important and this is just not that shop. i also noticed that another customer had a similar experience. read more

As a small business owner I really don't like trashing other businesses, but in this case it's completely warranted. I was recommended to this place from a mechanic I trust and had been working with for 20+ years. He was busy at his establishment, knew I needed my daughter's car fixed, and said this place would mirror his own. The front desk was absolutely professional and kept me informed on the issue at hand and the fix needed. The price quote was respectable. While the actual fix took a month, due to employee vacations and enquires with OEM dealers, the front desk, while anxious due to the delays, was still professional during each email/phone exchange. My first clue of poor work was when I picked up my daughter's car and the lower center console was completely destroyed/non-existent. This shop claimed it was "like this before we worked on it" then doubled down on the excuses of poor work by saying, "Well one part of the console had JB Weld". Indicating that was reason enough to destory the entire lower console. Further, they were not at fault or needed to even attempt a professional fix or offer any other solution. Reluctantly I moved on and ordered another console that day. 7 days later, the gear shift they replaced snaps; this is where this establishment becomes completely unprofessional. First, they offered no efforts in getting my car back to their shop, as it was completely undrivable. Secondly, I'm told my child pulled too hard on the gear shift snapping the shifter. They doubled down by saying, "This car had a recall on the shifter mechanism, and this car slipped through the cracks." So again, not thier fault even thought they were working on the shifter mechanics. They simply blindly put a new part on without checking for any "gotchas". If you're looking for a place that looks at all angles when addressing an issue on your car this is not the place! This mechanic, Carlyle, blindly or purposely placed an OEM shifter on my car and didn't once think of the other pieces involved in the shifting . To add to the unprofessionalism he proceeded to overtalk, raising his voice and even yelled and shamed his customer on a simple discussion of facts. The fix was a $45 part and additional $700 in labor. 2 months later the car still isn't finished and this company all of the sudden doesn't answer emails. To anyone needing proof I've saved every email exchange. It's obvious when and why the communication stopped. Photos will be made available once my finally get my car back. read more

My 2015 Honda Civic's CVT transmission went out on me at 112,000 miles. I towed it to a dealership and they wanted twice as much as C & A for a complete rebuild. C&A gave me a quote sight unseen, managed the tow from the dealership to their shop and had the repair done in a timely manner. At the end, the quoted price did not change and the warranty is excellent. I'm incredibly happy with the customer service I received and my car is back on the road ready to go another 100,000+ miles. read more

This is a small auto repair shop with great service. I love how the manager will explain what he is doing in layman's terms. Whenever I go, I feel as if I'm going to family. Mine was a truly unique customer experience that is worth writing about. What's different about C&A is the sheer breadth and depth of knowledge and experience the owner has with cars in general, not just transmissions. I was referred here by Silvio's Autohaus, they told me that C & A does the transmission work for most of the car shops in Houston including many dealerships. Additionally, they said the owner, Carlisle is great to work with and very well respected by the other shops in town, especially on high end german cars which is what I have, a Touareg. My transfer case for the all wheel drive was making noise and the dealership misdiagnosed it as a stepper motor problem, charging me over $500. Then they quoted me $3500 parts + $900 labor to replace the transfer case part of the all wheel drive. My car was approaching 10 years and I was considering selling it to a junk yard at this point. I stopped by C&A one morning and met Carlisle. He said he would take a look at the car that day, and then he gave me a tour of his shop. The shop was laid out like Formula One, a place for everything and everything in its place. While in the shop, I saw a BMW 7-series, 6-series, Porsche, Mini-Cooper, Mercedes S- class, Honda Accord in for repair and not just in for transmission work. I felt like the word is out that C & A does great work at a reasonable price. They don't just blindly replace major components of the transmission as the dealer would. They open it up, then clean, fix, or replace the minor components, saving thousands of dollars, and in my case, saving exactly $3500. Carlisle called me that day, explained all the options, and we settled on a repair that cost about $900 and change. I picked the car up the next day and it was like new! Carlisle took the time to understand my situation and the current value of the car to recommend the cost effective plan to maintain the vehicle. What struck me that is truly unique is that he can evaluate options then make the tradeoffs for vehicles in their middle and end of life. I bring our Touareg and our Acura to C & A for all general maintenance now after the positive experience I had with the drivetrain repair. read more

We received great service at C&A. They service more than just transmissions. We had our oil changed in the Saab and they repaired a leak that was getting the front mat wet. The work was done promptly and the charges were reasonable. The girl at the front desk was very friendly and attentive. We will defiantly bring our car here next time it needs service. read more

I took my car numerous times to two different car dealerships for what I perceived was the same problem. After each visit, the dealerships charged me a hefty price and sent me away stating the issues were new and not the same issues. After I took my car to C&A, the owner texted a picture to me of the issue as I suspected. The issue was repaired and did not reoccur. The customer service and actual repair was much appreciated. My wife and I just moved to Texas from Virginia. Our very reliable 2007 S550 decided that it didn't like the idea of going to get its Texas license plates and refused to go into gear. There would have been a one-week wait for the shop recommended by the tow truck driver, so we selected C&A from the reviews. We are very glad that we did! Not only were they able to get to the car right away, Carlisle walked through his initial assessment with us, asked questions, and let us know the options for new or used parts and what the potential time and longevity impacts would be, allowing us to make informed decisions. Patricia in reception was extremely helpful. She realized we were having challenges finding a rental car and called in a favor with a rental car company. No one ever wants to hear the words "you need a new transmission" trust me. But I think once in everyone's lifetime they will receive terrible car repair news, I hope this is my one and only time, but not likely. After researching several companies and dealerships I was referred to C&A. I choose them on price and a personal recommendation. I saved $2000 from the dealership's price and $1000 from other transmission shops. I was told it would take 3 -4 days, in my mind and based on other car repairs I interpreted 4 -5 days. On day five I was given again the news that the rebuilt transmission was not performing to their standards and they needed to keep the car longer. On day seven C&A offered to pay for a rental car due to the time it was taking to repair. Day 8 finally my car was ready. I picked it up and spoke to the mechanic who explained in detail why my transmission failed and all the steps they took to rebuild it including a trip to the dealership for software updates which C&A didn't charge me for. They also didn't charge me for the gas they had to put in my car after I unintentionally brought it on E, sorry. They warranty their work for 1 year or 15,000 miles. Update to follow. read more

My mechanic recommended C and A Transmissions after my transmission warning light came on. I was hesitant to go to the shop because it was so far from home (in Spring). In the long run, it was well worth it. The shop was organized and very clean. He clearly explained the problem and even printed out an image of the part and where it fit into the transmission. I am certain he charged me less than the dealership. I would recommend this business to my friends without reservation. read more

I took my 1988 Porsche 928S4 to Mr. Carlisle. I am $1100 in to the repair bill and have had to take my car back 3 times...soon to be a 4th time. I don't mind paying for repair service, but I expect my problem to be fixed...especially after taking it to them 3 different times(so far).....I took it to C&A because they were recommended by another Porsche mechanic. I had the best experience with C & A. After being jerked around by another mechanic shop (America's Transmission-stay clear from here for all of your auto repairs), it was refreshing to deal with great customer service and folks that actually knew what they were doing. I heard about the company by eavesdropping on a conversation and immediately began to do my best in trying to find out where the shop was located. They were so professional; Ms Patricia and Mr Carlisle were awesome and I would definitely recommend this mechanic shop. The shop is very thorough and took the time to explain all what was wrong with my car and I discovered the problem was misdiagnosed by the previous mechanic shop. Thanks to C & A I didn't have to go weeks without my car the problem was pointed out and was fixed in a day. I now have a mechanic shop I can depend on and won't have to worry about if the mechanic shop is being honest. Awesome experience! read more
