I was on walk around Richmond and ill equipped for the cold. My fingers and face were quite numb and I snuck in here for a nice meal and to warm up. I like the decor and the high ceilings. I got the 3 course meal for 12.95 which came with... - Parsnip soup - very good and warmed me up - Galette - crepe with ham, cheese and egg which was good. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I am a HUGE fan of the slow, luxurious, full Saturday lunch. Especially at a French bistro and this was it! It is a chain, and it does feel that way, but in the best best way that a French bistro outside of France can. It feels time-tested and efficient. The waitstaff is super and the restaurant is very comfortable, while still being elegant. The menu is French, but creative, featuring some twists on old French classics. And, the crowd is upscale but not stiff. I ordered the potato leek soup to start with a baked crepe dish as my 'light main course'. The soup was absolutely perfect, with a good balance of creamy to salty/oily. The baked crepes were filled with spinach and some type of cheese, and they were LAVA HOT! But they were very good, and it was totally fine to wait for them to cool because this was my slow Saturday luxury lunch and I still had wine to drink. ;) My husband had a charcuterie starter with a half-chicken main, and raved as well (I didn't even get a taste!). All ingredients used were obviously fresh and well-planned. Nothing tasted out of place and our wine was a delicious red (Chinon, I believe). I discovered Côte in Richmond in 2010, and the food never disappoints. I've been here with my husband and a large group of friends on more than one occasion, and the staff are always gracious and accommodating. This is one of the better locations around London/Greater London. I must say, I've ordered the Cod Goujons, Roast Seabass, Poulet Breton with all 3 sauces and even the Rump of Lamb (the BEST, by far). I'm not the type to order everything on the menu, but the food is gorgeous (and yes, it's a chain - who cares?). I've always left full and happy, without spending too much. Oh, and try the prix fixe menu if you get there early! Côte is clean, minimalist design, has consistently excellent dishes and never feels oppressive. Not too busy off the bend from the main high street. Situated opposite the bridge to head over the river once you're done. More a place of presentation rather than to get your fill but it's what one needed. If you want a spot to converse nicely then this is great. If you're looking for somewhere with an atmosphere then head elsewhere. Staff were super friendly and engaging. Service was relatively quick. Prices mid range I'd say. read more

Its French! I've been Cote a few times. Usually, on a Sunday morning for breakfast. The first time I went I was blown away by the crepe complete and the coffee is not so bad. It has bacon but if you are of the vegetarian persuasion then they will happily cook it for the person you are sitting with who eats meat! However, every time after that the quality hasn't been so great. The same crepe complete the next couple of times was dry, over salted and over cooked. Most recently, I had the French Toast. Its delicious but the maple syrup isn't real Canadian maple syrup so if you are a Canadian be prepared. The service every single time has been awful. It isn't the fault of the waitstaff. They are busy and especially for Sunday breakfast / brunch, they seem pretty understaffed. It takes a long time to place an order, the quality of the food hasn't been that great (which also isn't the fault of the waitstaff) and the management has been directly rude to us and blatantly ignored us. Instead, if you are in Richmond and would like Brunch might I suggest: Momba, One Kew Road, Carluccios. read more

I've been here once. It was a long time ago, shortly after it opened. As I barely remember what the service was like, I'll just say that the food was completely and utterly gorgeous. I had the most juicy and tender of steaks with perfectly crispy chips. It looked great on the plate and tasted even better than it looked. read more

We were more Sunday morning diners, it's a very good place, with some style, warm, calm atmosphere, good layout and furniture, a pleasure to visit. Have to agree about the service, friendly but not very efficient, and if you ask twice you may get two! Food was really good, I had crepe, eggs and bacon for about £5.95 from the interesting breakfast menu, and it kept me going for a few hours, and most importantly was very tasty. Cafitierre of coffee was fine. Shall certainly visit again, and will look out for other branches. read more

I will admit, I don't go to Cote, to me, its one of those boring chains, so when I went for brunch one day, my expectations were.....low. My poor assumptions.....I was wrong. I got a full breakfast, everything was really lovely, well cooked, I even enjoyed the French black pudding! I would happily go back for brunch. read more

This place is an adorable French bistro and the food was good (not phenomenal but I would definitely eat here again). The bread was good, but I don't think restaurants should charge for bread (1.95)! I got a sirloin steak with béarnaise sauce and it was good. The fries (chips) were good as well. The service was a bit slow, but the ambiance was nice. Overall, I thought it was a tad overpriced, but I would come here again. If you like French bistros, then this is the place for you. read more

Went to cote for breakfast on Sunday morning in Richmond. it was £7.5 for the full English plus ££1.95 for coffee plus 12.5 discretionary tip. The breakfast was excellent and the best I have had in London this week. The sausages, mushrooms, bacon, tomato and eggs were of great quality and you got plenty of toast, butter and jam. I just had a nice yummy dinner here with friends last night and don't care one bit that its a chain! I'm going to review in inverted pyramid style, most important info first, because the meal was most fabulous at the end. The desserts here are just phenomenal! I had the chocolate fondant with ice cream (we call it molten chocolate cake sometimes where I come from) and my dining companions had the creme brulee and the creme caramel. All were delicious dreamy little perfections and we tasted each others but I think really all liked our own best, but I would have been happy with any of them truth be told. A great place to go for dessert even if you go somewhere else for dinner! For mains two of us had the moules frites and the other had crepes provencal and a side of minted peas. Having eaten piles of mussels on my recent holiday in Dubrovnik, I didn't know if I could face another one, but since I love them so much I went with my gut instinct and ordered, and was not sorry for the decision! Plump, juicy and soaked in yummy creamy broth and served with salty skinny fries. Just how it should be. They charged for the bread we required to soak up the sauce, but I will forgive them for that, because it was so worth it. My friend who ordered the crepes must also love them because she's been here twice and ordered them twice, so there you go. Minted peas also quite nice. For starters we all got the chargrilled artichoke, which was good but a bit hard, I think I prefer artichokes to be boiled or steamed instead so they are more tender. The wine we had, the syrah at the low end of the menu, was also nice. Overall the evening was not cheap but if you're on a budget you could go before 7 on a weekday when they do a nice pre fixe menu, 3 courses for £11.70 I think it was. But they were out of the fish cake on the menu, which would have been my choice, so in the end none of us went with that option. read more

Located on Hill Street in Richmond, opposite the Town Hall Cote serves French Bistro food at a reasonable price. Staff are quick to greet you and on most occasions you needn't book, however on a busy night (Fri-Sat) there may be 40-50 minute wait for a table. This can be easily remedied by popping across to All-Bar-One for a quick vino if the upstairs bar is busy. Tables are a close fit as with most chains and the atmosphere can get rambunctious. However, the meals are quality for the price. The seafood linguine a favourite of mine, with finely diced shallots, tomato, clams, mussels & calamari drizzled in olive oil. As with the nature of French Bistro, Cote's food can serve a little heavy on the palate however, there is an excellent selection of wines to balance out. Opting for a Maison chardonnay is an excellent pairing to the linguine. If you're after a real treat, the popular Steak Frites is a must have. Served with a rustic plant pot of frites, the steak itself is slender, but abundantly flavoursome with beef fat overtones and is always perfectly seasoned. Cote also do an excellent breakfast. Vegetarian options are also available. read more

One of the three stars is for the Poussin Roti, a special item on yesterday's menu. Lovely smokey bacon twirled around chunks of chicken breast supreme added crispness to already flavorful chicken. The menu failed to mention that it was served over whipped potatoes, so I added a side of Jersey Royals. My companion's ribeye was excellent. Sadly the meals were actually 3 servings, so rather than overstuff ourselves, we requested that our leftovers be placed in takeaway containers so we could finish the next day. The restaurant was unusually loud and boisterous and perhaps the waitress was nodding her head to something other than this request, because after the bill was processed, we were told that the remaining food, a good two servings each, was "placed in the bin". My poor husband felt terrible throughout, since he wanted to make my birthday special ... First the noise from the out of ordinary ten person plus tables, then the takeaway screwup...and our other choice was Kew's Ma Cuisine. So, next year, Ma Cuisine! read more
