Carlos saw my Toyota Corolla through a couple accidents and was always so helpful and I always felt like I got an honest deal. I had a problem with a rear window once and was quoted over $100 at another place just to look at it - Milpitas garage fixed it for half the price. I was usually able to call and get my car in the same week. The only sad thing is I no longer live in Milpitas to continue going there regularly. Ok, so I accidentally stripped my oil drain on accident. I rushed it the last oil change due to a minor earthquake that I felt. When I tried changing my oil last week, the drain plug wouldn't tighten and oil was leaking a little. I checked out this place due to the ratings other people gave Milpitas Garage. I did my research and all said that I have to change my oil pan. Since I have a mustang convertible, there was a possibility that they might have to remove the engine and fix it that way. I'm thinking to myself, damn, this fix will be pricey...almost $500 with parts labor and tax. Well, to my surprise, Carlos calls me the next morning (since i dropped off my car the day before) and tells me that he might not have to change the pan and do all the other unnecessary things. He just drilled new threads in the drain and boom! All fixed! Grand total$150. Who would not want to receive a $350 savings call? read more

The owner Carlos seems to be honest and straight forward. The price is not cheap but very fair compare to other shops. I did a transmission flush and a coolant flush there and the work seems to be good. The garage is much cleaner than other garage I've been to. Just as clean as a dealer. The work was done in a timely manner as promised. I would definitely come here again. I needed to get both headlights on my 2012 Hyundai Veloster. Eric kindly explained what services needed to be done (removing front bumper) in order to replace my lights and gave me a fair quote. When I got to the shop, Eric explained the different types of lights that could be in my vehicle and the difference in prices, just in case the total for services and what I was quoted was different. Much to my surprise, after service started, Eric said that removing the front bumper wasn't necessary and that the bulbs could be changed without doing so. Eric then adjusted the time and cost for services,, saving me a ton of money. Had my lower control arm bushings replaced here. Carlos was knowledgeable, honest, and respectful. I showed up on the day of the appointment and right when I walked in, he remembered that I needed my bushings replaced without even having to pull up my quote. He grabbed the new bushings and laid them on the table to show me how it looks like. During the repair, he walked me into the garage to show where the torn bushings were on my car. After the repair, he laid the old bushings on the table and explained how bad they were torn. I would come again for future repairs! read more

Carlos was awesome! I had a minor accident and wasn't able to drive my car. He took a look at it, showed me exactly what was wrong and what needed to be replaced, and was able to have it ready for me by the end of the day. It was decently priced, and I got my car back faster then expected. He even let me know of stuff ill need to eventually get work done, but never pushed for me to get it done all at once like most shops do. Milpitas Garage really came through for me when I needed them. I was driving down the freeway on a rainy day when my windshield wiper broke! I needed same day service because I had a wedding to attend, and several other shops didn't want to make time for me. The other reviewers are right. This looks to be an actual honest mechanic. Carlos is great. I had my suspension fixed here after my car started making a horrible rattling noise. He fixed the noise by replacing the rear shocks and tightening some bolts. The price was very reasonable and less than I though it would be. I naturally chose his shop again when I had a problem with an IAC valve I'd paid another mechanic to replace. I took my car to Carlos when the car started making a weird sound. He said he was booked but would take a quick look. True to his word, he came out to look at the problem and took the time to find the cause of the noise without charging. He told me it was a bad part and to take it back to the guy that had put it in. Now I always bring my car here. read more

My son and I just did one car repair and one car maintenance at this shop today. We feel we are very lucky to find this local auto repair shop. My car's front bump cover was loosed w small damage. We went to two shops: both suggested us to replace the whole front bump cover, which is kind of expensive and it is also such a waste since the exiting front bump cover is still pretty new and in good condition. Eric at BYOC Auto repair is really helpful.He is very honest and knowledgeable.He really thinks from the customer's interest. He found the solution immediately. He provided excellent customer service and his charge is very reasonable. We were truly impressed that the worker there could fix my car in ten minutes. I had my 2003 Honda Odyssey starter motor replaced in Sept. 2017. As the vehicle wouldn't start, click but not start, the minivan was towed to the garage via AAA towing service. They were quick in identifying the problem source by sticking a metal rod to the starter area and a hammer to hit on one end of the rod to impact the contacted part of the other end of the rod. They hit 2 spots while trying to start the car and the 2nd spot they tried worked. The vehicle started like magic. I've checked the main relay and other stuffs as what's indicated on the internet and the main relay was good. To repair, they quoted me the replacement of the starter at the following price split: starter: $280, labor:$100. Total: $400 (after tax & discount). They replaced the starter in 2 hours. Amazing speed. I checked the starter price online after return and found out that a new starter is priced between $80-$130. It seems that they charged much higher than the internet prices. I would be OK if they add like $50 to it for they have to get the parts somewhere around. I am OK with the labor, for the speed and accuracy in identifying the problem source. Overall, here is my impression: 1. skills in identifying problems: very good 2. repair speed: very good 3. part pricing: somewhat too high 4. labor pricing: fair, for the quality of their service Will give them 5 starts if they part pricing is reasonable. read more

Carlos is the best auto shop owner I've ever met! I called him to quote the price before took my car to him, and I did get the price quotes on the phone! No unnecessary extra charge. You just tell him what you need or concerns, such as budget or you really need to get the car fixed asap. He's really nice, he'll listen and care what you need. I took in my 545 BMW, because it was due for service maintance and oil change. When It was time to pay the bill it was super AFFORDABLE. I was expecting a pretty hefty price due to what I was quoted at BMW for servicing, so I was shocked when the bill was almost half the price... Carlos was really friendly and took his time to explain to me what was done without making me feel like I had to speak car. I also got my car back quicker then I thought it was going to take. PRICES ARE SKY HIGH!!!!!!. Charged me $80 just to install a friggin battery in my truck.$50 to rotate tires . Carlos does ok work ...I had to get it towed there cause I didn't want to go to the dealer. Would have been $800+. This guy ended up dropping my drawers and pounding me for over $1200.00. I did not have all the cash to get it fixed initially and was straight up with Carlos about it and he said he would work with me. Well as soon as I gave him the go ahead to work on my truck he changed his mind soon after it was finished. He did not work with me at all and conned me by changing his mind after. Went in to get an oil change on a Wednesday. I actually had the parts already after failing to do the change myself, so Carlos just charged me to do the service. He was comfortable with giving me some tips afterward for when I would give it a try the next time, and so I am a bit more comfortable that I can attempt it myself in the future.
