9/27 update: Johnny (the artist I left the review on) decided to message me & as you can see he didn't acknowledge the instagram DM's of him quoting me $80 for a hand tattoo then increasing the price the next time significantly to $140.. Also doesn't remember the first tattoo I got from him tipped him $50 which he was "so appreciative for" lol now doesn't remember that. The issue wasn't with my Marilyn tattoo. It was with the scamming ethics of the other tattoos regarding the hand tattoos. Same design same placement 2 weeks later first quote $80 then now it's $140. That's scamming lol Also I'm sure you're reading this. My fiance and I BOTH unfollowed you on IG 1 MONTH AGO, after you tried scamming me, & then you RE-requested to follow me a few weeks ago, to which I declined , so I'm not sure how you blocked me lol I didn't even notice, till you now said something. Remember it how you need to , to make it sound like you did something tho. Proof is there. As far as me having a issue w tattoo artists , that's an odd statement. My sister and co. visited me from the midwest and wanted to go to the boardwalk for the day. My niece just turned 7 in April and had been told her whole childhood she had to wait until she was 10 to get her ears pierced just like my sister and I had to do growing up. Leave it to her crazy aunt (aka me) to influence her to want to get her ears pierced on the boardwalk. The guy working on the day we visited last month, who I assume was the owner, was so sweet. He explained he was also a parent and that his much older daughter was afraid to get her ears pierced with a needle and actually chickened out the first time and had to try again later. He said the health dept. doesn't allow piercing guns (like they use everywhere at the mall) because there's no way to sterilize them. With a needle, each needle is new and wrapped in packaging, so totally sterile. Obviously to a 7 y/o, having a needle stuck through your ear vs. a quick gun could be a scary thought. We gave her the choice, and she wanted to go through with it! The guy asked both my sister and I to go back with her because he could tell my sister was a nervous wreck lol. My niece didn't even flinch at all or cry with both ears being done. They had super tiny studs as an option, which were the perfect tiny size for her ears. We were so proud of her for being such a trooper. I know she felt super cool starting 2nd grade this year a week ago with her new piercing, which she got to tell everyone she got done in CA on the Venice Beach Boardwalk. Love this memory for her and my fam! PS, I think the cost was around $60, which included the little studs. We were in and out in maybe 10 minutes from start to finish. read more

My husband passed away a few weeks ago and I wanted to get a small tribute to him. Back in the day he played football so I got his Jersey number. This was before cell phones so when he would page me all he needed to do was put in his double didget number and I knew to call him back. His Sister and I came down here and saw Jay. Who happened to be someone Charlie coached football to. What I liked was Jay got to know us before he gave us our ink. And he's a talker forsure. Jay knew I was kind of uneasy about getting a tattoo. He made sure I didnt steer away from my original plan and just got the number. Very small, very girlie. As we were talking two of my husband's and mine random songs, very random songs happened to play. My tattoo is just a special number towards the bottom of my ankle. It was perfect for me. It was exactly what I wanted. Located smack in the middle of Venice where all the excitement happens. I guess they call it a boardwalk but it's not really a boardwalk. Parking is hard, if your lucky you will get street parking. If not then you can park in a $10 lot. Anyways if looking for ink this place is cool. They close early though at 7:00pm. read more

Okay to preface this: I knew what I was getting myself into. This shop definitely isn't the most professional piercers around and the jewelry they have is low quality. The ends of my septum ring kept falling out so I ended up buying a new piece of jewelry and changing it just about a week after I got the piercing, which was not ideal but I also could not get the jewelry to stay together. The piercings still healed fine (mine and my friend's), but I have now been told at piercing shops that the placement of my septum is so crooked that if I want the look of tight, straight hanging jewelry I will need to re-pierce it (which is still possible because the original piercing is so far back/down in my septum). I wouldn't say not to go here, but just know what you're getting yourself into. read more

Im not even going to rate this shit hole ! My tattoo artist at this shop was named Jay and he was nice but that's about all that was nice because he can't tattoo for shit. His station is very unsanitary. He took a half ass photo copy of the picture I had on my phone the full photo only printed half the picture so he free handed the other half . None the less my tattoo is supposed to be white but he dug the fuck out of my wrist so hard he mixed the white ink with my blood He went over the tattoo at least three times . I now have red bumps all around my tattoo it's all scabbed up and red . Honestly a 3rd grader could have done a better job. I've been treating it like I've treated the rest of my tattoos and none have them have ever given me any problems so don't think it's the after care that is making me have a horrible experience. Do NOT GET PIERCED HERE! If I could they'd have no stars! This place is a joke. Disgusting, unsanitary and unprofessional. I had the worst experience here two weeks ago. I came in being that I was in Venice beach having brunch. I normally look at reviews on yelp and idk what I was thinking but didn't do any Research on this place. Big mistake! Ended up getting a Daith which was double pierced and my friend got a conch with was horribly placed. This guys didn't even give us his name, wash his hands nor explain anything to us. He was rushing us looked completely high. And was cursing the whole time annoyed saying it wasn't his day. After piercing me he pulled out the needle without putting in the ring. So while attempting to put in the earring he struggled tremendously and began yelling at me saying don't move. Mind you his hand was pinning my face down on the chair. He was beyond ruff and so rude. I couldn't take the pain and asked him to stop!!! He then said let me just put in a normal earring after assuring me he could put in the earring I chose before paying. But then failed to put it in. So what does he do, puts in a nose ring as a Daith! I was bleeding non stop he didn't bother cleaning me and let me leave like that. The pain and swelling was horrible so I ended up going to a well known all piercing place called lulus body piercing who told me I had to take it out because it was double pierced and misplaced (crooked) the idiot pierced me again with the earring and it came out lower thru the front side. Overall it was horrible! Everyone in there was asking me are you ok omg that looked so painful and you know what it was HORRIBLE. Please save your ears/body the trauma do not go here! Update: I called in and made manager/owner aware and he asked me to go back for free services of my choice! No Thanks! Wouldn't go back if you paid me!!!!! This place should be closed down! 5 years ago I had gotten a tattoo here out of spur of the moment. At 18, you're not really thinking about the quality but instead the price. The dickhead artist that did it started to apply more pressure, because I didn't flinch when he started (I had 3 people there with me and recorded the entire experience). The manager didn't give a crap, he just wants money. By the way, I had gotten a really simple Trinity symbol, which is supposed to be symmetrical. The lines are uneven, shading is blotchy and it's completely scarred. Everyone makes fun of me for it, but luckily I'm getting it redone someplace else. I came here for the first and second tattoo, both done by Mando. He's great, really nice, and converses throughout the whole process to keep you comfortable. I came in, he gave me a price, and took me in. No appointment needed. The first tattoo faded..fast. It might be because it was my first and I might not have known exactly how to take care of it, but noted. The second one came out fairly nice, though he didn't fully connect the cursive on the quote that I had, but it's not a big deal, it's not noticeable. My friend, K, wanted to get her tattoo touched up because it was fading. She wanted it to add a green tint to it as well as writing. The green never really showed up and ended up looking muddy, but the scripture was lovely. He also gave a discount to my friend who has been wanted a navel piercing, which she did end up taking the offer. However, after it was done, it was crooked.. This is on the boardwalk of Venice beach and a fairly large studio. Everything is sterilized, they even change gloves several times throughout the entire process. This is a priced by piece studio, and you need to pay upfront. They accept cash and credit. It's a pretty popular tourist area, so taking bus is your best bet. read more

Came to get a simple lil peep tribute tattoo of the cry baby album. The artist completely smudged the stencil I told him to redo it he declined and said he got me. Very shaky lines and couldn't even shade the ribbon on properly. Blamed me on the lettering of the album cover for his bad work. I asked for a refund and told me I didn't pay enough for the bad tattoo that he should charge me more. So no refund they offered to try and fix it but this being my 5th tattoo with some experience I declined you can't polish a turd.
