I had been wanting to get my mom's signature tattooed and since it's a very meaningful tattoo for me I was hesitant to try just anyone. I found this place on yelp, and was helped by Richard! He was very professional and without me even saying anything he knew how much the tattoo meant to me and made sure the tattoo and signature match perfectly. Every stroke and every curve was exact.. I could not be happier. read more

I dropped in to match my daughters' names. I was tattooed from 5 years ago on the other arm. My youngest daughter is turning 4 and learning to read. I wanted her name on my body, too, at least around her 4th birthday. They took us within an hour. Reasonably priced! In fact, the last artist didn't match the font and wanted 100 more. The dudes are chill and nice. Highly recommend! read more

Professionals served by "real" people. Myke owns the place and treats you with courtesy and respect. We took our teenage son to get a couple of piercings. Although a pretty straightforward process, you will find that they are thorough given the COVID protocols. Since we are from D.C., we chose Ocean Front Tattoo because of the reviews on Yelp. All are true. If you are visiting Venice Beach, definitely worth a stop for a piercing and/or a tattoo. Thanks Myke for making this experience a great one for our son! read more

Stopped by Saturday right as they opened and I definitely lucked out. I had one minor tattoo before this piece so was definitely a little hesitant. Three of the artists came right up and made the process as smooth as possible. Worked with Retroe and he brought up multiple designs/sketches based on the general ideas I had. After deciding on the dope design Retroe put together, he spent a solid 8-9 hours on my arm and to say the final product was epic would be an understatement. The detail of this tattoo is just incredible and people have just been complimenting it left and right. Just really impressed on the level of talent and professionalism Retroe demonstrated and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Go check out more of his work here: https://www.instagram.com/retroetatts/ Honestly just a great group of dudes with great attitudes and so stoked I went to the right place. Received a great arm sleeve from Mikey and I could not be more happy with the service I received. If you are looking for great work, this is the place to go! Mikey is so talented and he takes his time. He takes time to explain the process with you and gives great insight. He did not rush through the process. I checked this place out last week with my gf, she got her septum pierced with Myke. He did a pretty good job considering she hates needles. The price was fair, the shop was clean..Myke said they just re-opened under new management, and we would def recommend this shop to others. Go check it out. Oh by the way i think the reason we gave them the 5 star review was because they are the only shop we know of on the beach that has its own FREE parking. Came to Venice to get an estimate for a piece I wanted, came out with a tattoo the same day! Last time I was here was 4 years ago, and I was hesitant bc I was bummed to find a completely new shop and my artist that I used to see when it was All Star Tattoo wasn't there anymore...but I got paired up with Israel and his work is amazing. He's really nice and listens to what you want to do, but also will offer ideas to make your tatt pop. This time it was a small piece but i can't wait to see what he'll do with the bigger one I'm getting next month! Ocean Front staff is friendly, clean...plus they got their own parking lot and bathroom for customers...def recommend to anyone. Check the portfolios in the front, you'll be impressed read more

I have never had such a great tattoo experience! My cousin and I just stopped in and decided to get tattoos on a whim (I know, I know). We got so lucky with this place and so lucky that Mikey was the one to help us. He was super engaged and so willing to help us through our design ideas. We got everything nailed down and perfect before actually starting the process. Not once did I feel like he was annoyed or we were being too picky. He listened to my concerns about sanitation and showed us each time he opened a new needle. Each tattoo took about an hour each. He talked to us through the whole thing and was just all around super awesome to work with. The tattoos turned out AMAZING! The line work is so delicate and precise and the shading is perfect. Both of us are beyond happy and are so excited to show them off when they heal. I wish I lived in the area, because I would go back to him for all my future work. So happy, can't recommend Ocean Front and Mikey enough! read more

My girlfriend and I had been talking about getting tattoos for a few days, and made a trip out to Venice Beach to come take a look. Very clean and professional looking on the inside with portfolios available for you to take a look at on the counter, and plenty of tattoo artists to talk to. We already had what we wanted printed out so they could make a stencil out of it, and Israele gave us a quick estimate, which wasn't a bad price at all, and we paid and filled out some quick paperwork before getting started. My tattoo artist was Israele -- and he was great. Very professional, and answered the hundreds of questions I had for him during the preparation. As this was my first tattoo, I was pretty nervous. He explained what it would feel like and that I had nothing to worry about, and he was right! It stings a bit, but he was great and did a wonderful job bringing my simple idea to life. Big thanks to everyone at Ocean Front Tattoo, it was a great first experience and it definitely won't be mine, or my girlfriends, last! read more

The process was smooth and fast, he confirmed the spots before I get pierced. I chose Studs because they offer flat-back screw for their earrings and use piercing needles manually instead of a piercing device. So the healing is better comparing to using a piercing gun. This place is definitely on the pricey side, especially their jewelries. I personally wouldn't get my jewellery here, I'm just here for the piercing and got a titanium stud for now. I was asking help on which piercing to get, and they kept chatting amongst themselves despite my presence being known. Another time, I went in to get downsize, and the young woman said she'd only give it to me for free based on when I got pierced, but that she'd need to make a note otherwise the manager would go "what the hell", and she said this as if it were a huge inconvenience and my fault. Well let me first start by saying I visited 3 different tattoo artist before I went to Ocean Front. All three guys turned me down because the work I wanted done was going to be a cover up of an old tat (ex's name I know I'm a big dummy) that was already on my arm plus from what I hear working with blue isn't any fun to work with. Two of the guys tried talking me into putting the new tat on the opposite arm. Thank God for Mikey at Ocean Front!!!! Mikey was a true professional right from the start! I showed him a picture of what I was looking for and within a couple hours he had a drawing made up and ready to go. His drawing was pretty different with his own creative spin on it which I loved. Mikey is an extremely talented tattoo artist plus having to sit with him for close to 12 hours I come to like the guy a lot he is a "real" down to earth nice guy. So if you are considering going to Ocean Front for a tat check out Mikey you wont be disappointed!!!!! I want to thank everyone there again they are all a cool group of guys!!!!!!! read more

In '12, Mike pierced my 7yr old daughter's ears. He was accurate, lightning fast, professional and beyond calming and kind. Unfortunately we had to remove the posts prematurely and her ears closed up. Jump ahead almost 7 years later and my daughter is ready to try again. She refuses to have anyone else other than Mike do them again. He is beyond patient and stoked that she came back. My daughter didn't hold back and did 2 holes in each ear. He really sweated the details to make sure they were even and they're perfect! If she'd had her way, she'd probably have asked him to do a nostril (I'm sorta okay with all that, but one step at a time for the mom, please). It tickles me to no end that I brought my kid to such a pro shop instead of a mall shop like Claire's (not hatin', just sayin'). My own mom was duly horrified to see the well-inked Mike popping a needle through her grandkid's ear. Maybe that was the best part for me. Great shop. Terrific owner. read more

Carlos Vargas is an amazing tattoo artist! I had a great experience at this shop. I came in for a touch up and to connect two tattoos together, as well as adding more on my upper arm. He helped me with my idea and created an amazing tattoo. I couldn't be happier. I will definetely come back for more tattoos. So yesterday I went in for a piercing and when I walked in I felt very welcomed and the shop was really clean. Michael helped me out a lot and was fast and clean, and he also gave some great tips on how to check out other shops and also how to take care of the piercing itself. So I would defiantly recommend going their if you're ever at Venice Beach!! I will most defiantly be back there soon!! read more
