Do not get a tattoo done by spank or spanky (don't remember his exact name) he does not listen and decides what he thinks would look good on you permanently! What a waste of time and money. I asked for a minimalist constellation design behind my ear and what I got is an embarrassment. The lines are crooked and thick and this tattoo looks nothing like the photo I showed to the artist, Adrian. A competent artist could have easily pulled off this design. After asking for a refund Adrian refused and told me "Maybe now you realize that wasn't such a good idea for a tattoo after all." I spent too much money to get a poorly-executed tattoo and to be disrespected on top of it. read more

We stopped in this place while cruising around Venice Beach. The sign on their door said "2 tattoos for $100 and 20% off for military." A little skeptical at first because its a tourist stop, we walked in anyways. My wife and i got matching tattoos on our wrist by tattoo artist: Fallyn. She did a great job and was very nice. It was exactly what we wanted. When it came time to pay Fallyn totaled up our cost to $80 but the owner was extremely rude and told us that the military discount was not applied to the deal. I walked over to the sign and read it again to make sure I was not mistaken.... and I wasn't. When I disputed the sign, he told me that If I was "going to bitch about it" he will do it this one time. The owner continued on to put down Fallyn in front of her customers and told her that customers will pay first before work is done..... which is completely retarded. You don't pay for a tattoo before the work is done. Just like you don't pay for a haircut before its done. When i went to tip her on the receipt , the owner snatched the receipt away and told me no. We gave this place 2 stars because the owner is a fucking asshole. Fallyn's work is far more advanced than this shop deserves. She would get better business at a different shop. This place does not deserve her. I would go back again for a tattoo from her, but NEVER at this shop. read more

There are so many shops in Venice how do you choose the right one and the right artist? Looking at the artists books to check out their portfolio anyone getting tattooed should do. You can also ask the artist questions and see if they are being receptive to your inquiry. This is a permanent form or art and choosing the artist is key. I have 2 big pieces from Mike that works at Tattoo Addiction and both came out fantastic. Stability is important and Mike has been at the same shop for 3 years that says volumes to me about the artist and his portfolio is awesome. Choose wisely people! read more

Fallyn was super unprofessional from start to finish of my visit. I came in with an extremely easy design (literally 10 lines) But she couldn't get past her "Super detail" mind. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I drove out from Van Nuys on new years day, with my own design. Again, super easy design. She didn't introduce herself, just let me know that she was the tattooist. I showed her the drawing I had done and some other reference material. She asked me 3 times if I wanted more detail. I only answered twice (I don't answer the same question 3 times). She drew the design at an angle on paper, making the design look wrong. Instead of re-drawing the design straight, she drew some lines on the design, and then cut the design off the page. The design was still crooked. And it was drawn wrong-the left side was bigger than the right. When I started pointing things out about the design, she corrected them - at first. But I couldn't get past the cockeyed of the whole design. I could tell she was getting frustrated but if it's going on my body permanently then you should probably get over it. That was when she asked the second time if I wanted more detail, as if that would make the drawing better. I asked if she could draw it free hand (i meant on the paper) with just the ruler. Sbut she either didn't hear me or just ignored me. She kept referencing a drawing that I had asked her to not focus on. I explained that one side was bigger and off. She measured with a ruler and said no it was fine. I said "No, this side is off. " She tried to give some reasoning as the diamonds in the design were the same size, to which I had to explain to her that the shapes she was talking about had to deal with the intersecting lines. Plus she drew a square where it was supposed to be a diamond shape. She didn't get it. I went to the restroom, came back and told her I wasn't feeling the design. And that I would be going someplace else, She got an attitude, and then decided to "give me some advice" (At this point she still hadn't ask me my name, nor offered hers). So now let me offer you some advice. 1. Lead in with your name. What is this your first job? Do you really need someone to tell you this? "Hi, I'm Fallyn how can I help you?" 2. Get a better printer/scanner. Cause yours is off, and needs to be cleaned. My design shouldn't have come out as black as it did - it looked like a giant furry blob. 3. Get a portfolio BOOK. Cause not everyone has/uses a Mac and doesn't want to take the time to go thru your FB pics on your Mac, and accidentally delete your stuff. Plus it looks more professional, cause I can look at your (shoddy) line work better. 4. Learn to draw. You told me to bring some material in so you can trace the drawing. You should be able to grab some pencils and paper and reproduce the simple design I brought in. And do it correctly. I'm not an artist but I can re-draw the design (that I originally drew in the first place) several times. And if that's too much then learn how to download adobe photoshop. It took my artist literally 15 minutes to create and draw it perfectly the way I wanted it. Drawing a design crooked on a piece of paper is going to make it crooked no matter how many lines you draw over it with a ruler. 5. Don't get mad when someone doesn't want your subpar artwork. I was able to find someone to make the artwork the way I wanted. cause it was how I wanted it, not how you do work. Adpat to the customer, cause they are the ones that count. read more

Okay, do NOT go here for a piercing. I had been planning on getting my septum pierced for awhile, and decided on a whim to stop in here while I was at Venice with a couple friends to finally just bite the bullet and get it done. The guy at the front who briefly explained the jewelry/pricing to me turned out to be the guy who was going to pierce me, unexpectedly (I didn't get his name, unfortunately). I was a little weirded out at first, because he doesn't exactly look the part. But, I decided that there's no point in bias, and went ahead anyway. He took me into a cramped space behind the front counter, told me I couldn't have either of my friends back there with me to hold my hand (I'm a wimp), and then dug through my nose with a marker to mark a spot to pierce. He asked me what size gauge I wanted, and I told him 18g, because I wasn't totally educated in the septum piercing process. He didn't use clamps, which I'd read/heard was typical, and he just shoved the needle through. It hurt like a bitch, but I was expecting that. What I wasn't expecting was how much it hurt when he was trying to get the ring in after the needle. He was trying to force it through the hole, and it was taking longer than expected, so I started to mutter some profanities under my breath in a [vain] attempt to comfort myself/ease the pain. He stopped knocking around my nose and backed up, so I asked him "Is it over? Is it in?" and instead of answering me straightforward, he chastised me for swearing, saying that because I expressed my discomfort it "messed him up" and that he had to stop because he thought that he was hurting me. OF COURSE HE WAS HURTING ME. IT'S A FOREIGN OBJECT THAT IS BEING PIERCED THROUGH MY SKIN. He then made some snide remark about how he thought that I could handle the pain because I have a few scars on my face. Seriously, dude? Unprofessional. Anyway, he had to pierce me AGAIN. My friend, who already has a septum piercing, suggested that we use a 16g needle/ring because then we could just slide the ring into the hollow needle, which, if I'd known, I would have agreed to in the first place. The guy piercing me basically told me to shut up and to not react in any way if the needle hurt otherwise it would psych him out. Whatever dude. So, I got to hold my own hand, digging my nails into my own skin, biting my lip to prevent myself from letting out any noise that might distract this douchebag, as he shoved a needle into my nose for the second time. The second time was definitely more painless than the first. Then I fled into the night without a thank you. (Seriously, fuck this guy) read more

Got my back dimples pierced here and I had a horrible experience. The guy who did the dermal's seemed like he had no experience and when it became painful and I was crying he told me I was making him feel bad and that it was his worst experience ever. The place itself was not bad but if I were to go back I would specifically request that he not do it. I don't know what his name was unfortunately so I can't let you know. But even at first glance he looks very out of place and I'm wondering if he's even licensed. Piercing didn't come out too bad but it was extremely painful. read more

I just want to put out there that I got three tattoos from there My first one was a wave the rest are nature retaliated I got two more after the wave. I told my arrest that I wanted BLACK ink tattoo And a realistic rose on my hip with thin lines I got the rose but not only were the lines not thin the ink that they told me was black WASN'T EVEN BLACK!!! It's like a black green! All of the tattoos that I got from there aren't pitch black ink! Went in for a special kind of piercing on 11/4/2014 around noon. Talked to a shorter Asian gentleman named DC(not quite sure). He said it would cost 30 dollars I was rather surprised. I even told him how places were charging more for the same piercing around the area. He then reassured me it was thirty. I said see you Sunday! I came in exactly when I said, around 430 on 13/4/2014. There's a small room off to the right as soon as you walk in, I was waiting for someone to greet me. The man behind the counter sat down without a word and started watching a movie on his laptop, I ask him if he's working he then huffs puts his movie on pause I explain my encounter with DC he then talks to DC and says "no that piercing is 100" I try and explain that he told me it was 30. He just shrugged and walked away. I go and talk to "DC", he said that I didn't explain where the piercing was going and what it was(I clearly described where I wanted it, I even spelled it out for him). All in all pretty pissed. Maybe I should've expected the price to be 100 but after his confidence in the price given to me I was assured. A huge let down. read more

I went here for my first tattoo, just to check it out. I have a friend of a friend who said this place was good. At first I was worried because its right off of Venice Beach walk and not to be a snob but it worried me a little because that area, yet fun, is a little shady. Walked in and the guys greeted me and asked if I needed anything and I told them I was just looking and they said that was cool and I could check out their books, so I did. The place itself is a little dirty looking but the guys are clean and their tools are clean so don't worry about it. After looking and pondering and questioning Mike about everything I could think of, I decided to get my very first tattoo. Mike let me pull up the design I did for the tattoo and he printed it out made the stencil and began. My tattoo is all black and about the size of a softball and i got it on my back. It stung pretty good but it was over in less than an hour. Mike did an amazing job and I love my tattoo! read more

I have nothing but good things to say about this place and the guys who work here, especially CARLOS. I walked in on a whim to get finger tattoo. Carlos worked with me, taking his time, making sure it was exactly what I wanted. I've have other tats and was impressed with what a smooth hand Carlos has. He disinfected the chair, table and my hand before starting and made a point of showing me all the instruments he would be using were sterile and sealed in packets before he began. Three weeks later, I was back in to have some work done on a cover-up of a cover-up. Again Carlos took his time working with me on the design, never made me feel rushed or hurried. The results are gorgeous! The colors are bright and almost 3D looking. Today my husband is having Carlos fix up and bring back to life some of his 30+ year old tats. It will be done in two sessions but already the results are something. So if you're in the area, I recommend you go off the main drag to TATTOO ADDICTION and meet Carlos and the other artists there. read more

I stopped in to get a little bow on my finger that I've been wanting, it was so simple I didn't think any professional could mess it up. Boy was I wrong. I should have known as soon as they didn't id me that it was a shitty place but I just figured the guy knew I was over 18 so I continued.. His work didn't look bad. Angel was the artist that did it and he said the way I wanted it would fade so I trusted him and let him do it how he suggested since he's the professional and it came out TERRIBLE. It literally looks like crab legs coming out of a bow he didn't make it look realistic or how I showed him at all. Now I have to pay to go to a different shop and get it fixed because when I called to tell him it looked terrible instead of telling me to come in so he could fix it he just said there was nothing he could do.
