This was a fun little place to enjoy a late afternoon cocktail on the deck until the rain came, then we moved inside to look over the menu. The service was friendly and the meal was good. Perfect laid back, easy going place right on Lake Barkley. Dress comfy and chill for a while.

The buzzard dilla is huge & yummy.

My parents bought a condo in Kuttawa recently. I went down to visit them and they took me to have lunch here at Buzzard Rock Cafe. Buzzard Rock Cafe is located on Lake Barkley, they are actually have a marina here at Buzzard Rock. You can launch a boat or dock a boat in one of the covered areas, I shutter to think how much that would cost. We entered the cafe and found ourselves in a gift shop. They have a lot of different shirts and other gift shop items available. You have to walk a little ways into the gift shop to get to the cafe. Once you are there it is a 'seat yourself' basis. They have an inside area, a patio area with booth seats inside a screened in area and then patio area that is outside where you sit in patio tables with umbrellas. We thought about sitting on the patio with the umbrellas but 10 minutes after arriving it started to pour rain, so we were glad to be inside the screened in patio area. We sat ourselves and grabbed some menus behind us. I decided on the Buzzard Dilla, which is a chicken quesadilla that is loaded with cheese, mushrooms, peppers, and spices. We arrived around 1pm on a Saturday and the cafe was VERY busy. It took a while for our server to come and get our drink order, but I think that was because it was there was only one server. Our server very friendly and was very rushed as she was doing it all. It took about 25 minutes for us to get our entrees. I was surprised with how LARGE the quesadilla was. It was literally hanging off the plate! It comes with a pack of sour cream, a little cup of salsa and some kind of white sauce. The salsa tasted like it was from a jar and wasn't my favorite, but I really liked the white sauce with the quesadilla. The quesadilla wasn't only large, but thick, like 3/4 an inch in some areas. It was full of big pieces of chicken, onions, green peppers, mushrooms a CHEESE. Tons of cheese. I really did enjoy the quesadilla. Our server was very friendly and I really did enjoy the food. The theme of the restaurant is kind of Florida Keys which I liked. You can sit outside or on the patio and watch the action from the marina. This place is a no brainer. Stop in and give them a shot. The next time I'm in it'll be hard to not order the Buzzard Dilla!

Worst service on Kentucky Lake. Unprofessional and rude. In desperate need of new ownership and staff overhaul.

I'll give them 4.75 stars, but they did fantastic so I'll round up for this place. First, we walk in the door and Zack walked past and complimented the boss on her snazzy shirt and a few other staff were friendly too so the vibe was nice to start off. We were then led to our table to discover Zack is our server for the night. Another compliment on the bosses glasses, okay she did look great - Thanks Zack! Drinks come out super fast and we get our food ordered. Zack was great helping with Alpha Gal and later following up with the kitchen staff that they had in fact not put butter on my fish - another win. I ordered the red fish special (I think) with a baked potato and the boss got the Harris Platter. Zack recommended blackened and was so right, delicious! I tried her fired catfish and that was delicious too, but would have dipped it in hot sauce, but the cocktail sauce was so yummy with a nice horseradish bite - delicious and maybe better than hot sauce (slander I know). That 0.25 off - well the hushpuppies were kinda gross and bland. This is the south so quality hushpuppies are a must. Ask for Zack, you will not be dissapointed.

We ordered drinks. I ordered a double Basil Hayden sour and my friend Tanqueray and tonic. We had shrimp, crab cakes, mahi and Ahi. All were delicious. Half way through the meal we ordered another drink. When the check came my 2 drinks were $56. $28 each. I understand that a double is 2ce the price as a single but in a place where 95% of the menu items are $20ish or less and the restaurant is NOT high end one would not expect to pay this much for a drink. If you are going to charge above average prices they should be disclosed. No prices are on the menu.

We've tried the steaks (tender and flavorful), sandwiches (yum! -- the cheesesteak seems packed with flavor and the grilled chicken is tender and juicy), fish and chips (not over-cooked -- lightly battered), and salads (fresh). Save -- if you can -- room for dessert! Everything is great, the portions are generous, and the price is reasonable (a rare find these days). Also, Josh (chef and co-owner) is a deep-fry master. His waffle fries, mozzarella sticks, and mushrooms are over-the-top. Josh sometimes steps out of the kitchen to greet customers and make sure everything is OK. The rest of the staff follow his lead for friendly service. If you get the chance, check out the adjacent, beautiful wine tasting room for Lake Barkley Winery. In addition to tastings from proprietor and builder, Bill, you can pick up some great local wines or some California varieties. Not only did Bill build the tasting room by hand (along with the entire building), he's the vintner who created the local wines from grapes he grew nearby. Get some of his local wine before he runs out of it. The California wines are from a vineyard his relative owns. This really is a family business! The tasting room is gorgeous and could be a great place to rent out for an elegant event. I hear JJ's and Lake Barkley are close to opening a banquet facility upstairs -- can't wait to see that!
