Bayside Gourmet is one of those hidden gems that's easy to miss but absolutely worth seeking out…read more The outdoor patio is beautifully shaded and comfortable, making it easy to forget you're just off the main road. Inside, there are a few arcade games, which are a nice bonus if you're dining with kids. When we're ready for a break from seafood, this is our favorite Italian restaurant in the Keys. The food has always been excellent. The Portobello mushroom appetizer is an absolute must-order--it's one of our favorite dishes anywhere in the Keys. The Veal Parmesan is another standout. It's everything you'd hope for in a classic Parmesan, and the veal has been perfectly cooked every time we've ordered it. One convenient perk is that they'll deliver directly to your room at Hadley House across the street, making it a great option if you don't feel like going back out for dinner. A couple things to know before you go: they serve beer and wine but no liquor or cocktails, and dinner entrées aren't available until after 5:00 p.m. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was disappointing because of the service. We requested to sit outside, but before we were even seated, the waitress repeatedly tried to discourage us, first saying it was too hot and then insisting we needed to move inside because it had started raining. At the time, it was only a very light sprinkle. She began clearing items from the outdoor tables and rushed another couple who had been happily dining outside, removing the salt and pepper from their table and making them feel so hurried that the gentleman spilled his beer while trying to get up. The entire interaction felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming, and we ultimately decided to leave without ordering. Despite that experience, the quality of the food has consistently been outstanding over the years. We're hoping our last visit was simply an off day because it's a restaurant we've genuinely enjoyed and recommended many times.

Great place to stop for a quick bite on a beach day or when you're not feeling up for a full meal…read more Sandwiches are large and taste great! Plenty of customization options. A counter seat is hit or miss but nice to have available instead of only being a walk up window. Skip the smoothies. They're watery and thus not very filling or flavorful. You're better off getting a sandwich (again, as this was my 2nd visit) or going somewhere else for a smoothie.

From a distance, it looks like a food truck, but it's actually a full setup designed to look that way. Even in the scorching heat, there was a line--but it moved quickly. Their menu has everything. Think of it as a Subway style setup, but with smoothies, tropical ingredients, and lots of fresh options. Now the main part...We ordered- Chicken Mix Baguette Tuna Baguette Am I the only one who found it just okay? At Subway, at least they toast the bread for a bit. Here, I genuinely struggled with the hard bread--it was tough to chew. Also, the meats were cold, which I'm not used to. I knew that beforehand, but still wanted to try this hyped spot. They have about 5-7 bar style stools for seating, but in the humidity, it's not the most comfortable experience. Freshness (smoothies & ingredients): 5/5 Overall taste & experience: 3/5 Or maybe we're just spoiled by the big fast food chains?

It's one of those places you don't really plan for, you just stumble into it, and I'm glad I did. The sandwich was surprisingly really good, fresh, flavorful, and better than I expected for a place I had never heard of before. When I went, it was empty and the man working was by himself, which made it feel very low key and almost hidden. It honestly feels like one of those hidden gems that gets overlooked or lost in the area. I really hope more people discover it because it deserves more attention. I would definitely recommend stopping by, especially if you're looking for a good sandwich with a great view.

I stopped at the Brickell location the other night when I needed a simple but filling full course meal. I was able to make a seat at the counter and was promptly attended to. This most recent time, I enjoyed their Roma sandwich, a.k.a. prosciutto and mozzarella on a lightly toasted baguette. A. specifically mentioned lately toasted because the kitchen stuff had great attention to detail in not having neither the plain bread nor a burnt piece either. The lettuce, tomato and yellow peppers tasted fresh, and I was given extra balsamic vinegar. As far as sweets, you're all right with any of their smoothies, like the acai one I enjoyed. However, just for good measure, I also enjoyed their Nutella croissant with berries and bananas.

I most recently stopped by for a bite at this location a few blocks from North Shore Open Space Park, a.k.a. the full moon party. They have a few outside tables as well as an inside counter seating area. You typically order your sandwich & smoothie, pay and then your belly gets happy. They have a few regular sandwiches that they make fresh (i.e. not premade), as well as a "build your own" option on the menu. My go to is their Italian sub on a crispy baguette. It comes stuffed with ham, prosciutto, and salami as well as a slice of cheese. You do get to customize the green stuff, which for me is fresh lettuce, tomatoes, red peppers, and their little cornichons (baby pickles). As far as dipping sauces, they have the usual oil and balsamic as well as a lightly creamy vinaigrette, which to me had a slight hint of spiciness. I loved it! Going for my sweet tooth, their açai bowl is really packed with the açai paste, granola and fresh berries. The staff is pretty friendly and gets my order out on time. The spot is also dog friendly, I've seen folks come in with their four legged children.

I walked in and was greeted warmly, and within minutes I was reminded why I remembered this place so well. It's authentic. No gimmicks. No trying too hard. Just good Cuban food. Since breakfast is clearly one of their superpowers, I went with the breakfast burrito loaded with eggs, cheese and potatoes. Wow. "Delicious" doesn't really do it justice. The eggs were perfectly seasoned, the potatoes had that beautiful crispness, and then they brought out their jalapeño hot sauce. I put some on the burrito and immediately asked, "Do you bottle this?" Yeah. It was that good. We also had the steak and eggs, and they nailed that too. Perfectly runny eggs next to a juicy, flavorful flank steak. Exactly what breakfast is supposed to be. A year later, the verdict hasn't changed. Yeah, this is the real deal. I still maintain that Denny's Latin Cafe serves the best Cuban food north of Havana. Five stars. And if somebody knows where I can get a bottle of that jalapeño sauce, we need to talk.

It's become one of our annual traditions. The restaurant is a great size with plenty of seating. You can grab a seat at the bar if you want to enjoy breakfast there, or choose from one of the many tables throughout the restaurant. During our three mornings in the Keys, we never actually sat down to eat. Instead, we stopped in each morning for a café con leche and a few pastries to take back to the villa where we were staying. Everything was fresh, delicious, and the perfect way to start the day. The service is always friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and it's one of those places we genuinely look forward to visiting every year. If you're looking for a great breakfast stop in the Keys, this place is definitely worth the extra drive.
