Wedding Fuel That Actually Slapped Attended a wedding with the fam--expectations were low, like "dry chicken and weird salad" low. But surprise! The catering squad showed up like culinary commandos. We're talking mashed potatoes smoother than a diplomat's excuse, mac n' cheese that could start a cult, green beans that were actually green (a win), and pork n' beans that came to play. The BBQ chicken and brisket? Let's just say this BBQ skeptic had a full conversion--hallelujah and pass the sauce. And dessert? A flan that held its own with dignity. Food was delicious!!! Best BBQ we've had in a long time! Homemade sauce was amazing and perfect amount of seasoning. A bit sweet with a little kick. Husband loved it! We had the ribs, brisket and pulled pork and all were tender and juicy and not dry at all. The frozen sweet tea was awesome too! Not too sweet and we all loved it. Stopped here on the way home from a day on the boat. They have a nice outdoor setup w/ tables/chairs, and tent. We ordered a bit of it all, so we could taste a variety of what they have... - loaded tots: topped with pulled pork, BBQ sauce, sour cream, and jalapeños (I would just ask for sour cream on the side next time since it was a bit too much) - loaded nachos: same topping so as the tots...again, get the sour cream on the side - pulled pork sandwich: good size and great flavor - brisket sandwich: amazing flavor and good portion We will definitely go back! Always on the prowl for good BBQ and I certainly found it here. Ribs were tender but stayed on the bone and the flavor was so good they did not need sauce. Pulled pork was moist and seasoned well. Slaw, mac salad and bake beans all spot on. Best part of the hot day was the frozen sweet tea! Great food read more

I never want to discredit anyone's business but I think the other reviews may not be completely truthful. We have driven by this location several times & never really see anyone there. Based off all the 5 star reviews we decided to take a chance. We were very disappointed! The meat tasted like it may of been cooked days ago. The greens were sour to me but overall no seasoning. The potato salad was good, but it tasted like store bought. I'm giving the low review mainly because I don't think all of the 5 star reviews are true & you just don't do that to BBQ. This place is totally with 40min in the car it took me to bring this delicious BBQ home! I had the sausage and ribs, which I have never had such tender sausage in my life & there were so many different flavors in that one bite, I was hooked. The ribs, the ribs! We're incredibly moist and delicious. I couldn't stop eating! They have a cute outdoor seating in case you don't want to take it home but no matter the distance I would highly recommend you try this little roadside gem. read more

Visited the Manatee Viewing Center and went in search of a good place for lunch. Saw this place on Yelp, and since we're always in the mood for good BBQ decided to stop by. Tried several of the meats (ribs, pulled pork and brisket) and a couple of side (mac & cheese and tots). The ribs were falling-off-the-bone tender and just the right amount of spice. The pulled pork was extremely tender and delicious, as well as the brisket. The tots were sooo crispy, I think the best I've had. The mac & cheese was ok, but the rest of the items more than made up for that. I would definitely recommend you stop by if you're in the area, and it's just a short drive from the Manatee Viewing Center. I plan to stop by again next week when my friend arrives in town to get some takeout and try some of the things we didn't get a chance to last time. read more

My guys and I have been in town for a few months for work and have continued to eat here twice a week. Food is always great! We always enjoy conversation with the owner and his worker. Damn good BBQ just where you need it. We had the beef, chicken, and ribs with cole slaw, mac & cheese, fries and baked beans. You can choose from hot or sweet sauce and there are a bunch of smaller sauces on the side. The beef was the best thing on the menu for me. Ribs were tender and flavorful and just right. Chicken was also great. I didn't love the mac & cheese or cole slaw. They were good but not great - just a bit flavorless for my taste. The beans were good. The french fries were perfect. Wife said (and she knows) they were some of the best fries she's had in her life. Service was great and friendly. The thrift store next door has a lot of great stuff, we'll be driving over here from Tampa on weekends just for the BBQ and shopping. read more

I heard about Buttman on Facebook and he posted such tantalizing pictures of his food that we just had to try it out & let me say it was excellent. We had the pork and brisket with greens and Mac & cheese. There was more than enough for 3 people with just one dinner. Both meats were seasoned nicely but most of all they were moist. My BBQ has to be moist! The Mac & cheese was just like my mom made and the greens were not bitter. Lastly the sweet tea icee was perfect on a hot day like today. A-plus! read more
