Best quiet and safe campground in the area. This is a generational family owned property. It is obvious how much they care for the campground. We witnessed the flower planting and the care they put into the sites after each trailer leaves. We are into our 4th year traveling the country. This is our 4th time here and 2nd time bringing our grandson. The lots are wooded, clean and larger than most. It is a kid and pet friendly spot with a lot to do. There are hiking paths in back of park in which we ride our bikes around. My grandson loves the pool, playground, basketball and game room. He also does chores for quarters to get items from the gumball machines. The people that utilize this space are genuinely friendly. Two years ago, we had a blast 4th of July where everyone decorated space and those that had golf carts, for parade and karaoke. First visit here, we found ourselves observers in a barbecue cookoff event in the park which was really interesting. I definitely recommend and enjoy being out in the wilderness! read more

The place caters entirely to seasonal residents. They have rules that don't apply to seasonal. My husband and I came to stay Friday-Sunday. We were placed right in the middle of a bunch of seasonal people who lit the whole area up with lights until 2am. One had dogs that barked non-stop and a child who was allowed to roam behind our rv and stand there making loud moaning noises in the middle of the night. My husband asked the people in the office if they could relocate us to a quieter area in the back. We were rudely told "no, that's not possible ". My husband pointed out that there were 12 spots or more that were unoccupied at the moment. He was told, "they're all rented". This is the second time we tried this campground and both times had less than desirable experiences. read more

THEY DO NOT HONOR THEIR CONTRATCS We put a deposit down before they even opened for the season. So no real loss there. Three days later, something came up and we could not longer stay. We left multiple voicemails, drove up in person and they would not let us past the gate. They said we had to make an appointment, but will not return calls to make this appointment. We gave them a deposit of $1850, their contract states that they can keep up to $1000 of that if we cancel, which is fine, we were ok to take the loss and honor our end of the contract and just get the $850 back. They CHOSE not to do the same and honor their end of it. It has now been almost two weeks and not a single return call from this campground. So unbelievably disappointed in how unprofessional this campground has been. read more

Contrary to some of the reviews we have had a wonderful time at Butterfly Camping Resort. The owners are extremely nice and understanding. I had an issue with my pedestal and the owner replaced the entire pedestal. My kids are loving it here and have made friends. We have been here for about 7 weeks at this point and will be here for about 6 more. We actually decided to stay longer after having such a good time. They were extremely accommodating to us wanting to stay extra and allowed us to do so with no issues. I would say that they must have made some changes and are not the Butterfly Concentration Camp as a previous person reviewed. I sincerely appreciate Donnie and Melissa as well as their whole staff. They are just all around good people. I forgot to mention that this place is in a great location. Its not far from beaches, lakes, 6 flags etc. its a great location. read more

The place is a complete dump. Both my kids ripped their pants and cut themselves going down the slide. We went up to investigate, and found rusty metal shards all over the place. We complained to the owners whom told us the slide was closed the whole weekend (which it was NOT) they must have ran out and put it on right away. They then accused my two girls of being on the playground unattended, when I actually have 3 boys and no girls. We ended up getting A refund for the kids pants after an argument, but read more

One star is the least I can possibly give in this review. The owner and his wife are absolutely bat shit crazy! They made a Marine and his family leave for absolutely no reason! They said we had too many people on the site, there's marine after three doors in Iraq has six children and a few friends that wanted to enjoy their day. There was not a monetary issue, the wife was just a bitch. Husband was kind of cool, but his wife clearly runs the show read more

Love it here. Simple place with a half basketball court, pool, bath houses, baseball field, some wagon rides for the little ones, small gaming room w pool, and store well equipped with the simple camping needs. Each site is spacious and cozy. Cabins are nice too. Some nicer then others with bathrooms. But the bath house is accessible and cleaned throughout the day. Tenting is also welcomed. Prices are reasonable. Each site has a fire ring. For the other people on here who have said nonsense they were probably acting like an ass. The owners are cool people. Don't act like an ass and you'll have no trouble lol. read more

We just went full time and used this campground for the month between selling our house and retirement. The sites are spacious, sandy with good tree cover. The store is well stocked with both groceries and rig supplies; even though we were at the end of the season. We didn't need the laundry or bathhouses but I did investigate and they were spotless. The pool was closed for the season so can't comment. My grandchildren visited and enjoyed a hayride, crafts and trick or treating. Very quiet at night. Great place to stay. We camped in a 40' motorhome with 4 slides towing a car on a dolly. There was room for the dolly and car on site. read more

Pleasant, low-key campground with lots of amenities and lots of rules. Clean restrooms, clean sites, nice laundry facilities. Almost all sites have plenty of shade and all are wide enough to accommodate slide outs, pop-up screen rooms, etc. We like the fact that they try to keep things from getting rowdy by limiting the size of groups and the number of guests per site. Lots of seasonal campers. The only thing I wish is that they would provide receptacles for recycling. read more

We have camped at this campground many times. We have never been disappointed. The campground is clean and neat and very nicely decorated. The staff provides games for kids and planned activities daily on the weekends. The pool area is very nice and kept clean. They have an awesome BBQ guy that sells fall off the bone ribs. it is also located centrally in New Jersey, just a half an hour from Great adventure or the shore. read more

This place is awesome! Beautiful grounds it's on, gorgeous ake in the back. Very nice swimming pool (although could be cleaned more), has a big playground for the kids and well stocked camp store. All staff are very friendly and welcoming, the campsites are very nice even though some are extremely close to each other. During the day time, theres a lot of kids playing and riding bikes, which can get loud and dangerous with driving through at times. Very nice family run place. read more

We have been seasonal campers here for many years and love it! We have researched other campgrounds and Butterfly beats them hands down. Sites are spacious and there is plenty to do on weekends! You definitely need to get here for a great time! read more

If I could give a zero, I would. .. this place is ridiculous and very rude!!! They stole 210.00 out of my account, because I used a card, then promised to give it back... I never heard anything from them again... I called the manager/owner and she was the worst... all they can do is give me credit??? I don't want to stay somewhere that I can't trust... needless to say, I never received any money back or returned!!! read more

Very disappointed and never stepped foot on the property. Had to cancel reservations 8 days before arrival due to an accident with my trailer. They would not refund my $57 deposit. Don't waste your time or money. These people are a joke and don't care about their guests. read more

We booked a special spot my husband I chose,,remind you they gave us the ones to pick from,, when we arrived they gave our spot away and we ended up in a area we didn't want. Then my parents came by to pick us up for dinner , my mom wanted to see the camper set up, I had to pay $18 for her to stop in for 10 mins. I told them she wasn't staying she was picking us up. Then my son wanted to slept over one night they charged me to have my own kid to stay with me. So if you plan on staying there don't have company or you will pay. Also we had the site for a month, we only went Friday and Saturday left Sunday's very early,,so consider this you rent your spot but your get a electric bill when you arrive home. So consider electric bill ,when all done and if you want a friend to stop by u will pay. Not worth it at all. Explore other places..national parks treat you better. read more

Ok let me start by saying this is the worst place to go camping when I went to this place I picked out a spot for my camper I gave them a $100.00 deposit when I came with my camper they put me in a diff spot I got pissed off then my neighbor told me they have floods where I park at so I went to the office they told me they dont get flooded there they lied so I was in hospital for a week I went with my camper on the 1st of August they said I have to leave on the 28th as I see there r 31 days in August so when I got out of hospital and told them am too weak to get everything ready to move. before that my girlfriend call there and left 2 messages they never got back to her so when I asked them why u guys dont return my calls the guy said what you want me to do! he was very nasty to me,then a old man come from back of office yelling at me telling me to get the fk out wow! that blew my mind then a nother guy yelling at me he came close to hitting me I told him go ahead put a hand on me and I sue this place! so they dont touch me the old man started talking bad about my mother I said to them you have a old man talking about my mother like a kid then the other guy kept calling me a p----! this is the worst place to camp they have no respect so I left 26th got no money back for leaving early! read more

If I could have put a zero review I would have! My husband finished his 6 month season there last week. It was his 1st time camping, and unfortunately he had a terrible experience with the rudest and racist owners! My boys and I stayed with him for 2 months during the summer as what we refer to as, "The Butterfly Concentration Camp!" On the night of our arrival my hubby made dinner plans with extended family at a restaurant that took awhile. Even though it was after hours at the campground he didn't think it would hurt for them to take a quick tour of his site. It was 11:00pm and of course there is an entry gate. We couldn't get their vehicle in, and the owner came running out mad as hell about it! We of course apologized and explained we only wanted to show them what it looked like, and that he was excited that we arrived, and that we will follow the rules going forward. We assumed all was over since we are good people and already apologized. NOT so! The whole time throughout the summer they would ride by to spy. They even accused us in a nasty letter which Melissa (owner) printed out in front of me, that we have continuously been sneaking people in! No discussion, just a thrown letter at me!!!! They shared they supposedly have security cameras to prove it! NOT true! We weren't even at the campground 1 night! My car wasn't the only SUV with a car storage top! When asked to see the video surveillance to prove it was my plate, they gave an excuse that they have a family member in the hospital! They also accused us that we only paid for 2 children on our site, but have seen a third not paid for. I shared the 3rd child was a neighbor's child in the campsite next to ours! Are they not allowed to play with other children within the grounds!? No answer to that!!! It was so bad that we never went to a planned activity, which by the way is not many. Very quiet campground and not even full!!!! Beware if you plan to go and stay. We are not the only ones that had a bad experience. The owners even had the nerve sending us a contract to renew for next year! Lol!!!! They only care about their money!!! They refused to apologize to us for their accusations!!!! It's unbelievable how rude and unprofessional they were. I even asked them why they handled things in such a rude way, and Melissa said that is her job to so!! read more

Rules are necessary, but this place feels like a bit much. Sternly enforced, even the sign when you pull in is a warning rather than a welcome. Sites are dirt, no grass or stone so when it rains your sitting in mud, and due to the shade on most sites the mud never dries out. So many other places to go camping where you feel welcome, fun activities and nice clean sites, no need to visit here again. read more

Our whole family (9 of us) rented 2 cabins, 1 cottage and 1 deluxe. Well, the deluxe shocked us as it was so tiny! One very small room held the bunkbeds, doublebed (which the corner was sticking out and injured a couple of us before we had a chance to cover it), a small sink, mini fridge (which was dirty inside) and a small bathroom with shower. This was not a big deal, since the majority of our time was spent at the cottage (right next door) and this was just for sleeping. We would have gotten the Bear Bone cabin, but wanted the a/c. The Cottage was better, had one room with a pull out futon, small table with 4 chairs, basic kitchen items (gas stove/oven, full size fridge/freezer, sink, many cabinets and drawers.) When we tried to fill the coffee pot, we realized the water seemed to leave extra bubbles in the pot...we tried rinsing it out and filling again, still had "bubbles" ???? We decided not to use tap water for any drinking! We brought plenty of bottled water luckily. There were sliding doors for all the doorways, and they all either stuck or didn't lock. The bunk beds were in the hallway and had a small closet that was I think over a foot back into the wall between the beds and wall. Hard to explain, but let's say this, it was such a tight squeeze, unless you were a toothpick, you weren't fitting back there to put away your stuff. Main bedroom had a double bed with box spring and regular mattress, and a "closet" on each side that had a couple small drawers underneath. There were also cabinets above the bed, but they were high up and really at an awkward position so they're not very usable unless you stood on the bed. Now, closets are great, but we didn't think to bring hangers....so we pretty much lived out of the suitcases. Now we know we're in the woods, but seeing 2 cockroaches in the back bedroom didn't exactly make us happy. The outside area of the cabin was nice, large porch with 2 chairs, fire pit with 2 more chairs and a long picnic table. The firewood they sold were, I think, $6 a bundle and they were cut so small, they wouldn't have lasted long in the fire. We'd probably have needed 3 bundles to cook for all 9 of us for one meal. We were lucky to find firewood around town a bit, either the side of the road or at a gas station toward the beach. Also on their website, they said they have free wi-fi (we could barely get a signal if at all anywhere on our campsite) and a dunktank that didn't look like it had been used at all recently. Was it broken? That was a bummer. The pool was nice, clean and mostly empty when we were there Sunday afternoon, but in the middle of us playing, some employees came out and started adding calcium powder to the pool..just sprinkling it in all over at the edges. Well, I don't know if that's safe or not, but even if it is, can't that wait until people are NOT using it? It didn't make us feel all that comfortable about it. We did not check out the arcade or mini golf. The store was cute (overpriced, but that's expected.) Staff were mostly friendly and helpful. The whole thing was ok, but just ok. Some things better, some worse. We enjoyed camping near the beach, but probably won't choose this place again. read more

Been going here for 15+ years since our 3 kids were small. We travel alot also but this is our local "go to place" and leave our unit for a month in the summer and look forward to it every year. It's a Well Kept - GREAT FAMILY CAMPGROUND. Family Owned and Operated and you can relax knowing the wife and kids are safe BUT THEY HAVE RULES! (Which we LIKE, thus a GREAT "Family" Campground). Go there, relax, have your "drinks", enjoy your family and friends, you'll love it. Get Crazy, Stupid, and Loud and your probably going to hate it. (although you'll probably get 1 courtesy warning lol)... Some of the bad reviews came from people that went to get crazy drunk and act plain stupid......Bring your family and enjoy, like we have for over 15 years! read more

We started camping here last year, and enjoyed every moment of it. We loved it so much we decided to book a seasonal spot this year. Kids have so much to do, and the facility is very dog friendly. The staff help you with any thing you need. The place is very well maintained, and landscaping is lovely. read more

By far the worst camping trip I've had yet. Paid for full hook up, But got only electric( when it worked). Water was down for the entire day from 9am to 11pm, so couldn't use shower or sink for cleaning, and with no water there is no toilet. Electric was also a issue several times ( but was a easy fix on their end). Customer service was by far hospitable, a friend was told to go jump in the pool when inquiring about the water issue. Another friends that booked a site right next to us ( booked with deposit months earlier) was given to someone else because they decided to stay longer. If I'm on a site and I decide to stay longer but someone has a deposit on the site I'm on, I should be the one moving not the person coming in that has a deposit on the site. read more

This is the worst campground I have ever been to. The reason for that is solely because of the people who own it and manage it. I've never met people so rude, disrespectful, and just flat out ignorant. Their website claims that customer care is their first priority?! Not at all. I know someone who lived in there, not just visited and they know these people personally. I have been there many times and I have encountered these wretched people myself. We have never treated them with any type of disrespect at all. They're just angry all the time. They obviously hate what they do and its because the real owner gave it to his daughter and son in law and they hate the place. It wasn't their dream to run a campground and its just become a burden for them. These people should find another occupation. They're horrible at hospitality. It's completely absent at this campground. Take my advice. Stay far away from here. I've heard many people complain about this place and it is ALWAYS the same story. The people who run it are awful. Trust me. Never stay at Butterfly Camping Resort. You will not be able to enjoy yourself. They have very strict rules horrible wifi and the food is a joke. You have to "pre-order" days in advance?! If you break a rule they will give you 1 hr to leave the property and I've seen it happen to someone before. And the rule he broke was moving a metal cable that was proven to serve no purpose. All it was doing was laying across the entrance so the person had to keep driving over it. He moved it instead and was called by the owners. The owners said he had to leave the property. He said he was on his way to work and they told him he had an hr. He had to call out of work to pack everything and leave. This is a guy who lived there seasonally. Never caused a problem. 55 and single. Worked during the day and quiet at night. A dream tenant and that's how they treated him. He never caused a problem but they gave him many the entire time he lived there. True story. Learn from this. Do not lodge here. For your family's sake. They don't care about your summer or their guests read more

In the beginning we loved the campground. We found the sites a little small and the "lake" is actually a swamp, but we loved the pool, the cleanliness of the washrooms and the hiking trail for the dogs. Unfortunately, part way through our stay we discover ticks all over the dogs (over 100). We treated the dogs, removed the ticks, and opted to stay of the hiking trail. We soon discovered that the ticks weren't only on the trail but all over our site. The dogs were covered again and I found 8 ticks on me. I had to go to the hospital for help with removal and my dog needed antibiotics. I have left 3 messages for the manager (Patti) but she refuses to speak to me. Apparently they don't feel the need to post warnings or spray the grounds. They also have ridiculous charges for late check-out and very poor management skills. They wouldn't even allow us to return a bundle of firewood after we opted to stay inside our camper to avoid the ticks. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS POORLY MANAGED RESORT UNLESS YOU WANT LYME DISEASE. read more
