I'm convinced that people who leave poor reviews for motels don't realize what they're getting…read morethemselves into. Seaside isn't Martha's Vineyard or the Hamptons. You're not staying at the Ritz Carlton. Yes, the Sunburst Motel probably needs renovating since it was last decorated decades ago. Yes, there were cigarette burns in the bedding. However, it's clean for the most part, which can't be said about all of the motels in Seaside Heights. The bathroom was very nice. No, there isn't shampoo, body wash, or conditioner. Unfortunately, you'll have to stop by the local CVS and pick up a couple travel sized bottles. You'll survive. Some pros about our stay at Sunburst: There was a functional triple lock on the door. Definitely helps to know that we're safe. The beds were incredibly comfortable and warm despite the cigarette burn holes. That didn't really bother us too much. The bedding was clean. No bed bugs. We had a nice room with two beds, a kitchenette, TV, and refrigerator. The man who runs the front desk was very nice and helpful. I forgot to get his name but he was very friendly. It's very close to the middle of the boardwalk and beach. There was only one con about staying here. It's very loud and the walls are thin. We had noisy neighbors. Not really a fault of the motel but Seaside typically attracts the louder and younger crowd. Not a huge issue. There's also no daily maid service which doesn't bother us but I know that's a deal breaker for some. Overall, this is a comfortable, fairly clean, and safe place to stay in Seaside Heights. Again, don't come here if you're looking for a ritzy hotel. You'll definitely be disappointed. In fact, don't come to the Jersey Shore at all if you want to go somewhere classy. This isn't it. If you just want a comfortable and pleasant stay, this is a good option. Believe me, there are a lot of motels in the area that are in horrible condition and I would not feel safe staying at. Sunburst isn't one of them. It deserves the four stars. The Charlroy Motel is also another family friendly option in the area. More expensive and on the quieter side of town but worth the money. They were booked for the summer so Sunburst was our next option and they didn't disappoint!

It is the largest, reasonably priced place with a superb location across from the beach and boardwalk. The room was oversized, renovated, modern and clean. The bathroom was also large and very clean. It may not be the biggest, but the pool is heated and also very clean with new loungers. Karen was a pleasure to deal with and very accomodating and flexible when my dates needed to change last minute. My suggestions for the future. Add some nautical art to the room walls as the room seems bare without anything on the walls. Get rid of the florescent lighting over the vanity and put in a nice globe lamp bar type fixture. Lastly, switch all bulbs to warm white and get rid of the daylight bulbs. These little things will go a long way and will change the rooms dramatically. I will be back, guaranteed.

We booked a room there for a few nights while attending a local wedding in Bayhead. Didn't realize that this is mainly an event/wedding venue itself, and secondarily a hotel. The staff here is warm and welcoming, no issues at all. We had a dinner and breakfast while there; both were good but not great for a place that claims to have an Italian cuisine, but the servers were wonderful and the prices aren't inflated. Our issues were with the room accommodations. This is an old building with wooden floors beneath the carpet, so you can hear people walking around the hall at night. And the walls could benefit greatly from enhanced soundproofing. There's only one small elevator in the building which runs a bit slow. There was no hot water for the shower when we got up...staff said they had a general issue that morning, but one of the reasons I pay for an overnight stay has to do with having a functional bathroom. So I suppose this may be a wonderful place to hold an event, but not so much for overnight stays.

Once settle we headed to get some drinks, first up the Frose great tasty wise but kinda pricey, next we tried some Seltzers since the frose was not ready, can't go wrong with a decent seltzer & a bit cheaper in price, Lastly we gave the Bucket punch a try this was the better one, good taste & decent amount of alcohol, better value for the money. We wanted something to pick on since all the drinking & got some chips & guacamole not bad. This is a nice area, decent music in the background it wasn't anything crazy like that more of a laid back vibe I would say mainly to just chill & enjoy the pool. Overall it was a nice day, decent price for the day pass good way to spend an afternoon.

I was excited about the trendy aesthetic, but this place is filthy. I am not a dog owner, but *am* a dog lover and my "fresh" pillowcases and bedding had animal hair embedded in them. The rug was badly stained- entire room felt so dirty, like a public restroom. Thanks for the slippers- but this is a shoes ON kinda place. I had such a bad reaction to our room I slept the last 3 nights wearing a mask. Being in the room made my eyes red and burn, shortness of breath/wheezing- symptoms would lessen as soon as I got fresh air. Eww. Just allergic to all the dander and filth. Developed & left with the worst sinus infection I've ever had. And with all my cleanliness concerns, we were googling legionnaires symptoms. Not being dramatic- it was really bothersome and worrying to feel so awful IN a hotel room. We were out of our room daily by 10:30 am (do not disturb sign NOT up) and we didn't get our room remade 2 of the days. I had to call down for clean towels once we returned from the beach. BUT! We did arrange (& agree to additional charge) for late checkout and KNOCK KNOCK (do not disturb UP!!) housekeeping at our door on checkout day as we are packing- ready to flip our room! Annoying. Additionally, the pool was disgusting. The adults never went in but it's hard to keep kids out. You couldn't see the bottom it was so cloudy- We were worried about them dunking their faces under. Especially after watching a late night adults only pool party following a sweaty group tournament in the park. Gross. The pool was cleaned once during our stay, with a robot vacuum. BEFORE that party. That water needed TREATMENT. Stick to the ocean. Valet is only parking option and you wait an insane amount of time for the attendant- when you can see your car parked right out front. Please give us our keys! At that point you're not providing a service. We are going to be late for our reservations and you're wasting our vacation time. At $50/night for that, you're just taking advantage in a seemingly not very busy part of town. There is no access to ice, so to fill your water bottles etc, you need to ask the cafe in lobby. During busy coffee mornings, the barista was not thrilled to be dealing with this and we were not thrilled to wait over a half hour for a cup of ice. Understaffed- needs more than one overwhelmed person. We had SO SO much fun enjoying the beach & boardwalk. Really wish this hotel was a dream and we "found our new place" but absolutely wouldn't stay here again. We would have left after 1st night, if we didn't need to be here for the family thing. We were shocked how well reviewed it is. There are so many options along the shore. **wait! I just remembered- one morning there was a siren/alarm going off for nearly 15 minutes and the manager came over the loudspeaker in our room (yup, that's right- intercom loudspeaker) and said repeatedly that there was no emergency. Extremely loud, for a really long time. Mmmmkay.

From the beach chairs, umbrellas, complimentary beach passes to the cold water dispenser inside the front door, the management treats us like family. I spent a night in Seaside Park and Seaside Heights, both were very disappointing and I'm glad I decided to head north even if It was out of the way to visit with family.

I was told I cannot get my deposit back as the cancellation would have had to have been more than 30 days. I was not told about this policy. The deposit was $423. When I called back to try and work it out with the manager she was quite nasty and accused me of being nasty to her girls. I asked if we could apply the deposit to future dates and was told flat out no. Then she started yelling at me. I wanted to talk to the owner, Theresa, however they would not allow that as they said she is seldom on site. We had gone to this hotel many times in the last 15 years with family and always had a good experience. This certainly left a bad taste in my mouth. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone now as the customer service received from the manager was less than pleasant.
