Do NOT come to this grooming place!!! They groomed our dog and the next day he could barely open his left eye!! We had to take him to the emergency room because our eye drops weren't working and it was turning cloudy and grey with discharge! Turns out the doctor stated there were pieces of fur STUCK in his poor eye from the cut and other pieces she cut horribly were poking him in the eye!!!! HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! read more

I did not want to have to write this review. I read other negative reviews, but I wanted to give Chris the benefit of the doubt because she has had such a great reputation in the past. Don't take your dog to this groomer. To be fair, my first experience was great. So I saw what she COULD do. The next three were straight down hill from the first grooming. The cuts were uneven, her toenails left very long, and the last time she had a bleeding nick near her eye. The shop is very dirty as others have mentioned, and now, I am inclined to agree with other reviewers. My dog is a bit of a mommas boy. He does not enjoy getting groomed and is not crate trained, so being put in a crate at the groomers can be very hard on him. The staff at Butterflied is fantastic. My dog and I are very happy with Butterfield. They treat him well and he always looks great when I pick him up. I have been taking my dogs to Butterfield dog grooming for two years. When I got them both groomed two weeks ago I felt like I had used my clippers on them. My oldest dog was completely chopped up, his face is distorted and his ears are uneven. My other dog just needs to have certain areas trimmed like a terrier. I was very unhappy. When I talked to the owner, she said I would get a discount on my next grooming. That is completely unacceptable to me when I paid $120 for both my dogs to be groomed. They don't need to be groomed again they need to be fixed the way they've always been done. I don't know if they hired someone new or if the owner just had a bad day. My dogs did not deserve to be treated this way and neither did I. If you use this groomer, make sure you check your dogs out completely before leaving the premises. I adore this place. I have been using their services for 10 years. They are respectful to the dogs and do an amazing job. I know my pups are well treated because they WANT to enter the door. If they weren't happy - they would fight going. I have 2 Bichons and they visit every 2-3 weeks to keep up their "style". When a dog sleeps with you - it must be clean! I'm so disappointed. I've been bringing my dogs here occasionally since we've lived here. 20+ years. We've been coming regularly with our 2 dogs for the past 2 years. I've been happy but it seems to decline every time we go at this point. So many issues with today's visit... 1. Took them in for their 9:30 am appointment. Used to always be finished by noon. At 2:00 they finally called me to say they'd be done at 2:30. Not a huge deal... but next.. 2. She asks me on the phone what color my female dog's collar is.? I tell her it's pink. She proceeds to tell me she gave it to another client but that they'd give her another. They sell collars. When I pick her up, they put the other client's collar, which is too big, on my dog. Who wants someone else's used collar?? This was ridiculous. I guess I'll be going to buy another. 3. When I dropped them off, I told them that my female would be getting fixed next week, that she has a hormonal issue that is making her hair fall out among other things. When I picked them up, they ask what kind of food we give them. I tell them. It's good food recommended by our vet. They insist that we need to change their food "because her hair is falling out". Umm..?? 4. She tells me she had to cut her very close because she had a lot of mats. I bring them every 8 weeks. I bathe them every week myself. Plus, again, her hair is falling out so she's practically bald. I think I would have noticed mats. She's never had them before. Her hair was thin before but now she barely has any. 5. When the girl asked the groomer what to charge me, she says that since we're off schedule she should charge us more but she won't this time. There is a discount when we schedule in advance. I do this every time. This is the appointment I scheduled 8 weeks ago. No changes. No idea what she was talking about. This place has definitely gone downhill over the years. Think i'll be looking elsewhere. Update after response from Christina.. No.. You absolutely did not replace our collar with a new one. The old faded collar of the other dog's was put on my dog. It was NOT properly fitting. It was too big. I was able to remove it by slipping it over her head. As far as the food suggestion, it would not have been made if I was listened to when I came in and explained why my dog's hair was falling out. We will not be back. Especially after your response refused to acknowledge the truth. And no response whatsoever to the fact that my dog was shaved bald. It's clear from your responses to every negative review here that you are only interested in being defensive and trying to cover for the fact that things are not as they should be at your business. There are plenty of groomers to choose from in this area. Many of them have nothing but happy clients. We'll move on to one of them. Good luck. read more

I'm extremely happy with the service both of my dogs received. My big girl Angel has anxiety when she's separated from me and I've taken her to groomers before that made it so much worse on her. She'd come home sad, depressed like and would just lay in one spot for like a day. At Butterfield she didn't experience this difficulty. Katie welcomed her so sweet and she had a good experience. If I could give negative stars, I would. If you value your pets eyes, DO NOT take your animal to this grooming establishment. After we picked up our dog Gina, we noticed Gina had bloodshot eyes. We spoke to the owner Chris, and she stated that Gina had irritated eyes and instructed us to go the feed store and recommended a solution. By the time we got to the feed store, it had closed so we went home. Later that evening, Our dog was in pain and one of her eyes had closed up, so the next day we took her to the vet (Dr Gill). He examined her eyes and noticed she had some cornea damage. Dr Gill was so concerned he called his vet friend. He prescribed 2 different eye drops, pain pills, antibiotics. The bill was over $250. We called the owner Chris to try to understand why her eyes were irritated. The owner Chris said to bring her the bill and when we gave her the bill, she said she was not going to pay the bill rather she was going to refer to her insurance. Later that week the insurance company Farmers denied payment because of policy. The agent said we'd have to settle this claim with the owner Chris. We asked for compensation for vet bills and she had no explanation for the irritated eyes. Basically she denied any wrongdoing but claimed her shop mixes a fresh bash of shampoo every morning. Somebody at the shop had to make a mistake but the owner is not taking ownership. The owner stated she would send us the money but have not seen any money yet. Bottom line...DO NOT TRUST this place with your animals. read more

It has been over a week since I had last spoken to the manager at Butterfield Grooming. That was when she was rude and hung up the phone on me. She had said that I would only receive a receipt by mail. I have still not received a receipt from her and it's been over a week. I tried calling again twice today and the phone is answered, but no one speaks. Very strange! There isn't even an option to leave a voicemail. My dog still has big scabs on her ears. A professional said that my dog will be scarred from the negligence she got from Butterfield Grooming. My dogs hair is still cut all unevenly and her nails need to be trimmed. Yet, Butterfield Grooming has not given us a refund so I can take my dog elsewhere to get her regroomed. This is very bad business ethics by Butterfield Grooming. I am going to get the receipt from them and eventually a refund to have my dog regroomed. If they will not cooperate then I will report them. read more

Hands down the worst groomers in the valley. I specifically talked about not shaving my dog's legs and surprise they did anyways. I asked for her to be trimmed to half of what she already had and the completely shaved her. Took a big chunk of hair from behind her ears. My dog was there for 5 hours for what I thought would be a wash and cut. Not sure she was even washed the cut looks like my 4 year old son chopped her hair with scissors. When I finally picked her up they just wanted to argue and over talk and could careless about my concerns. If you are okay with leaving your animal in an establishment that smells like cat piss and allowing these people to keep your fur child in a kennel covered in piss and shit for hours go for it . I only know this because my dog was not okay staying in this kennel for three hours and she became uncomfortable and unhappy (we have taken her to a separate groomer for a while but they contracted covid unfortunately so we tried somewhere new ) she smelt worse than she arrived . There was poop and pee all over her . I don't think this is normal or acceptable. Don't tell people to book at a certain time and keep these dogs in dirty cages for hours before you groom them . Her whiskers are trimmed off on one side, it's much shorter than any other time (I showed you a picture of your previous grooms) and she has nicks on her side and tummy. I can't believe this. Chris is a great person who runs a very well oiled machine. My 85 pound BullDogge who's stubborn as an ox always comes back happy, clean, and with a bow. Chris is very nice and she even let's me keep my dog there for the day since I work. I've been going there for years, and now my mom brings her pit bull there, and she comes back clean and happy too. I've been taking my cat here for a couple of years. They do a good job on the grooming, which is why I have been going back. My concern was that my cat has been shaved so close a couple of times before, that her nipples were bleeding. They have a couple of cats (friendly ones) that follow you. Unfortunately for me AND my dog, I read the only review of this place, and hoped for the best since my usual groomer was closed and I was already in Temecula. As I walked in I was greeted not only by the awful smell of cat (I am allergic) but the cat himself. I then waited a few moments and a woman poked out from behind a partition on the phone. I got the one-finger "I'll be with you." Its not like this place is very large, I could hear every word this woman was saying on the phone. She was't speaking to a client about a pet, NOPE!!! she was gossiping~ And still I waited to be greeted. As I looked around, the place was dirty, and cold, and not a welcoming type of environment! I took it upon myself to fill out their half sheet of info for myself and my dog, and again was greeted by the cat who was now on the counter in my face! I'm allergic, I can't touch the cat, so I blew in its face, and moved to the other side, where it followed me. ~~~EWWWWWW~~~~ I finally was greeted by a younger staff member who stated I didn't need to fill out the sheet. She took my dog, and stated that grooming was $15 normally, but $10 if you paid cash (that SHOULD HAVE been the point where I ran out!). I said ok, since I couldn't drive all the home to the North end of Murrieta because I had errands in Temecula. As I left, my face and sinuses began to hurt because of the amount of cat dander I just inhaled. OUCH!! And another EWWW! In any pet-oriented store/groomers I have never smelled nor experienced such awefulness! When I arrived to pick up my dog, a different staff member handed my my dog, and it didn't seem busy, but didn't verify that I was there for MY dog. I could've asked and RECEIVED Fido for all they cared!!! When I got in the car, I could tell my dog was not happy with me. He was sad and laid on my lap as we drove home. He usually is happy to come from our normal groomers, but not this day. Please do NOT take your pet here! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. This place is SO DISGUSTING. The minute I walked in the door my girlfriend and I were ASSAULTED by the most disgusting smell of cat pee. Ugh it was so rancid I held my breath! The place is completely cluttered, looks like no one has dusted in a millennium. It was so gross! We walked up to the counter and waited and waited and WAITED! I walked in to get a quote for my dog who is a schnauzer, but as I waited I heard a dog screaming. SCREAMING! he was yelping at who ever it was that was grooming him. She finally came out as I was about to leave and out of sheer curiosity I asked how much it was to groom my standard schnauzer baby and she said 55. Yeah cheap, but also unclean and unsafe! I can't even imagine what happened after I left! I will NEVER bring my baby here EVER! You get what you pay for! My friend told me about this place called dirty paws down the street and I've never been happier! They even took me to the back and showed me their entire shop! Smelled and looked nice and clean.
