There were once two breweries in Butte but by the time I made it back only one remained which was Butte Brewing Company. I was very impressed with the Lager known as Toddy Boy. It is kind of a lemony and citrusy tasting (with a clean finish) beer which I really liked a lot! In addition to that I had their house made root beer which was excellent also! I decided then to get the Honey Cream Ale in a four pack can. This beer didn't taste great because it had an unfortunate metallic taste to it. But the idea is that there is honey and creamy characteristics to it. Too bad the taste of the can was a dominant flavor in this since I am sure it wasn't intentional. The taproom is nice, spacious and you can get a great view of the surrounding area. Definitely a place to get their drinks from the tap as they are certainly good but be aware of the cans and possibly metallic flavor. read more

We didn't eat any food as we were there to get our passport stamp , beers were amazing , crazy clean inside and out , staff offered samples and didn't seem frustrated when I tried 2 or 3. Went for the beer but was amazed by their pizza. Excellent atmosphere with great views of the Butte valley. One size of pies and we ordered the Big Butte and the pepperoni. Perfect Neapolitan pizzas. Butte Brewing has a nice open concept with seating upstairs and on the main level with a space in the back that can be used for events. It is a great place to grab a pizza and a beer. Although I haven't tried them yet, their salads also look very good. They have a neat feature on the bar where you can place your brew on a chilled copper strip to keep your drink the perfect temperature. I wasn't able to drink beer for a while so I haven't dropped in for a minute but I will have to come by soon and see what's new! read more

4 stars!! Would have been five if they used salt?!?! I've been here in Montana for the last 7-8 weeks and so many of the restaurants here don't use salt. The pizza is good but I had to sprinkle it with salt. For those who don't know, salt wakes up the flavor in any dish and this one was just lacking enough salt. With that said, the crust is good! It's crunchy on the outside, a little chewy in the middle, and not just the right amount of air in it. The shrimp were very well seasoned and the tomatoes and olive oil play so well together. The customer service was great and I even got a free glass of their homemade root beer while I waited for my pizza. You have to stop by if you are in Butte. This is huge on the inside too with a full bar and non-alcohol options as well. read more

This spot is legit. Super big multi level brewery that has a little bit of everything. I had a cherry blossom lime seltzer while I waited for my pizza and it was super tasty. I couldn't decide between the Big Butte and the Gambretti so I did a half and half. A poor man's surf and turf pizza. I was so happy that I ordered it that way. Both pies were epic and full of flavor. The crust had a char on it that added to the flavor of the pizza in a positive way. If you are in Butte or passing through Butte do yourself a favor and pick up some pies from this spot. You won't regret it. So freaking good. Wandered in here while killing time for a flight and it was such a nice surprise! Large place with great views of snow capped mountains and downtown Butte. The patio was a great spot to enjoy local craft beers in the shade with a breeze. I recommend getting a flight (4 x4 oz beers) so you can try more beers! I shared a large salad with my hungry husband and it was delicious and fresh, but definitely needed more food for us. The pizza looked and smelled amazing but we had to leave before we could order more food. read more

Amazing location, beautiful brewery. Very nice staff. I did a flight for only $7!! You get 4 beers that my guess would be at least 4 oz pours. Plus they have a ton to choose from. I'm not a big beer drinker, but really enjoyed 3 of my picks. The Irish Red, was my favorite. They serve pizzas, which every table had that smelled amazing. We did not partake in food, but know it is an option. I took away a star, simply for cleanliness. All surfaces( bar, table, flight holder, chair) were very sticky. I didn't see anyone cleaning/wiping down anything in between customers. The table has rope in between the wooden boards which is just collecting everyone's crumbs from the pizza. Great place to stop and gave decent microbrew. I love the location. Lots of space, many beer options, friendly staff. We ordered two flights, one of a few specials and the other of IPAs. I can't say that anything other than the Berry Cream ale really stood out. All the beers were light and smooth, and the IPAs middlin'. We ordered the Big Butte pizza, and that was really tasting and filling. It is a flat crust which stays just a bit doughy and a satisfying crisp on the outside. Growler prices are great. read more

Beer is great at this place. Just tried their pizza for the first time and that's the not so great part. The thin crust is amazing and absolutely perfect, it should be the most amazing thin crust pizza ever (most pizza failures are a result of the pie and crust being crappy). The ONLY problem is that they stack about 5/8" of cheese on that delicious thin crust that destroys everything. The crust and the toppings are overwhelmed. What could be a great pizza turns into a melted cheese disaster, you cannot even chew anything because it is all gooey cheese. I hope they can fix this because they would have a great overall score after that. Best of luck! read more

We come to this brewery with our annual trip to Montana! This place has the best beer in the west. And we've had beer in every state west of the Mississippi except N. Dakota! We had the Ore Digger Ale (named after the college mascot in Butte), Butte Larger, Mudder's Milk Stout, and Highland Cream Ale. ALL are excellent! You won't be disappointed. And the pizza! Holy Smoke is it ever good! We come from Phoenix,AZ and the beer and pizza here beats anything down there! You must try this brewery! Large venue with plenty of seating. Fantastic salads...incredibly large and fresh. The pizzas are just the right size and not falling over with unnecessary extras. Pizza bones were just right. My family and I are traveling from Washington to Chicago and stopped here for dinner. Although they could not accept our small dog inside, the guy behind the bar was super nice about it and apologetic- to which I totally understood. My husband then went inside to order a pizza for dinner and because we could not sit inside due to the pup, the guy ended up bringing our pizza outside to our vehicle. We're in town for a few weeks and came across this brewing company on our second day. The pizza was good and there were a lot of options on the menu; my husband and I both enjoyed the beer and the scenic mountain views as well. I even bought a hoodie and I want to go back for one of the water bottles. There's a skeleton-themed house next door, and it was so much fun to see that and take pictures as well. Fun place, interior is beautiful and outside seating option was great. Staff was friendly. Pizza took a long time to get but was delicious once received. Beer options impressive! Especially liked how they embrace the mining town culture which forced me to learn more about it and give it the historical context and significance to our country that it deserves. Far too often it is easy to go with a first impression about something like mining without giving it proper context. I Appreciate the opportunity their acknowledgment to mining did for requiring me to learn more and open my eyes before making a one off judgement. Deep stuff but the beer will help. read more

Not only do they have in house beers, they also carry other local beers on tap. We were berry happy with the service and food/ beers at Butte. Stopped here to meetup on our through town. They had a lot of different beer/brews to choose from and a relaxed atmosphere. You could order at the bar and they had seating/tables on the main level and more upstairs. It was all very open and laid back. We got pizza and two salads to share for our table--all of which was great! The pizza had enough crust but was thin and crispy (and I didn't feel like they skimped on toppings). Huge brand new building on the edge of town very nice. Tons of seating both inside and out a great place to drink. Beer was pretty middle of the road, not terrible, they had some exotic sounding beers that turned out to be pretty bland, not bad but not super full of flavor. Service was really slow but they must have been understaffed there was only one guy pouring beer and he had to keep making tasters for people and stuff so cant really hold it against them. Limited food menu but did not get to try, pizza looked really good though. Not much to do in Butte so if in area stop in. read more

There was an event at butte brewing FOR KIDS where Charlie the ore digger was going to read a book and the 4c's were asking for support for the Dolly Parton's imagination library. My best friend and I brought our kids. Supported both the 4c's and butte brewing buying three beers and three pizzas. When we ordered from the bartender he was incredibly rude. No customer service skills whatsoever. When my friend asked for a box for the pizza the same bartender rolled his eyes and kind of threw it at her. We went upstairs with our children to be away from the crowd and not bother the butte brewing crowd. My friend and I have two toddlers. They were running around upstairs in an empty area with no one around. An employee came to us and said people were complaining about our children screaming. I couldn't hear my friend from across the table yelling trying to talk to me. I'm very unimpressed with the way we were treated. Don't have an event for children if you don't want children being children in your establishment. I will never support butte brewing ever again. I will tell everyone I know about my experience there. I work in customer service and I would NEVER treat anyone the way my friend and I were treated. read more
