Our car's windshields have been really lucky so far, just sustaining some small road stone chips until this point. On a recent trip on the 101, we got smacked with a HUGE road stone that made a giant chip in the smack dab middle of the windshield and there was no escaping the fact that we needed it fixed. I called around and everyone said it was too big and had to replace the entire windshield, which would have been about $300-500 depending on if I used my insurance or not. Enter Sean with Butler Auto Glass! Sean was super responsive via phone and text and was friendly and helpful and assured me that it could be filled rather than replaced and he could come over the very next day to do it. What a nice guy! He was on time, courteous, fast, and the job was done in a blink. I venmo'd him the fee which was super convenient and reasonably priced, and that was it. There was a hiccup with the date as there was a need for a staffing switch. The owner was completely communicative. The next day from the original appointment date my windshield was replaced. I have the same comment as many others: Sean came to our rescue after AAA and Safelite screwed everything up. We have a floor-model Prius from Hansel that had a rarer back triangle window, needing to be replaced due to a break-in. Twice Safelite came to replace it and a third time I went up to Santa Rosa but all three times they had the wrong window. Our rear-door window also needed replacing and the absolute stupidest thing is that Safelite could not replace the more important rear-door window (even though they had that part) because 'their system wouldn't allow it'. When I told Sean this, he was polite and said it was BS (instead of using the full term). Can't Safelite do a bit of extra paperwork or get their 'system' fixed? Would this have happened 20 years ago? Big tech and the internet is the thing that's getting stupider and more invasive at every turn (and I'm sure AI won't help). Sean replaced the rear-door window, ordered the rare triangle window from our VIN, and then replaced that a couple of days later. If you have AAA you have to force them to line up Butler rather than having them set you up with their people in San Rafael or Santa Rosa. Yes, go local(!) and avoid the increasingly ludicrous and evil corporate/internet world. read more
