After waiting over a month for Advanced to come out to give us an estimate, they were finally able to come see the basement. The gentleman who came was pleasant, but not terribly outgoing or personable. No worries, though, we had already had a lot of companies turn down doing our basement, so we were willing to hire the next person to come through the door. On Friday morning, the service man came to look at the basement and told us he would get us an estimate that afternoon or Monday. Now, over a week later, we have heard nothing from the company. Too bad for them! We were willing to pay anyone's price just to get the work done!

We weren't told that. Mostly I'm writing this to save someone else from our situation. Our project turned out fine in terms of craftsmanship, but we ended with tile we hadn't picked out. We worked with a salesman and picked out 3 sets of tile...the backsplash was specifically chosen bcs it had subtle yellow tones. When the tile installer came out with the tile, it didn't look like the tile we had ordered. It was gray tone and not yellowed. I double checked all the paper work, and called the store and everything matched. I thought I must have remembered wrong. So, I visited the Tile Shop to see the tile first hand, and that's where the events happened that makes me give them a big BUYER BEWARE. The first salesman who approached me was downright nasty when I explained the situation to me. He told me they don't make mistakes, and that's why I should order the amount of tile they recommend. (Makes no sense about color.) He was so rude I didn't want to talk to him and I found the original salesman. He agreed the tile shade was different and shrugged his shoulders. He told me basically that it had been my responsibility to come in and check the tile they ordered for me before it left the store. No one had ever told us that. So the only option is to tear it out and buy new. Can't attach pics thru Yelp, I was able to on google reviews.

Luckily we had been planning to have the carpets redone anyways and we chose to work with Thoroughbred since several of our family members used their services. I'm quite surprised with these negative reviews - our experience was great all the way through. Every person we worked with was so honest and have transparent recommendations. Our installation guys they contracted with were so awesome and corrected a small issue they noticed right away with Thoroughbred with no additional hassle for us. Prices are very competitive and a great value and experience. We will definitely keep them in mind for other carpeting or flooring needs!

Justin inspected the damage and promised a recoat, but suggested waiting until the situation worsened and the winter passed, assuring me it would still be covered. Several years later, I believed the issue had worsened and attempted to contact them. After four initial text messages, Justin responded, requesting photos, which I promptly sent. Despite numerous follow-up texts, I received no further communication. I was ghosted! On July 19th, I sent a text stating that if I didn't hear back, I would file a report with the Better Business Bureau and post negative reviews on social media. As of August 1st, there has been no contact.

We used Northland Coating this year to seal coat our basement floor. It will last for decades…read more It all started when we had some basement flooding and then decided to use Luxury Vinyl Plank on our basement floor. We purchased the flooring (special order so it couldn't be returned) and then started tearing up carpeting and pad. What a disaster. Whoever glued the pad down must have danced across the floor with glue. Circular patterns, waves and open areas - no logic. The pad was a nightmare to get up, especially where they just seemed to pool the glue. But that wasn't the worst part. The floor was so uneven with lots of valleys and a really high spot in the middle. We couldn't lay the flooring on that. So we rented a grinder and tried to even out a lot of it. It was too much variance. I started calling places to level the floor with fill. Either they were booked out for 6-8 weeks or one company wanted $6000. Everyone else was $2400 - $3000. Then I obtained two quotes for sealing the floor instead. One of the companies we previously had done business with came in at almost double the price of Northland. Plus they wanted to speak to my husband too. Seriously, if I am paying why should you need to speak to anyone else? Northland was great. Justin came out and quoted our project. We were originally going to have most of the basement coated in 2 phases since we had very large items that couldn't be moved out (a piano was one of them). There was one area we were going to leave carpeted but ultimately we had the basement done in 3 phases. Scheduling was easy. It is a messy project as they do some additional grinding. They try to keep the dust to a minimum but it is dust and gets around. Justin gave me a link to the supply company and I was able to pick a custom mixed color for our floor. You can choose from many colors or design your own. You can also choose the flake size. The supply company also had a tool where you could upload your photo and show the floor color in that space. It was easy. Choose some texture in the floor or it will be slippery. The floor looks great. I even have the piano metal wheels just sitting on the floor and they are fine. We scratched the floor slightly moving a heavy object but it is hard to see unless the light hits it just right. This is a solid floor. It has been months now and it is holding up just fine. Plus it is waterproof. Jake and his team did a fine job. They completed all 3 phases and cleaned up nicely. We do have seams at the phase transitions but you won't have them if you complete the work in one phase. There was some chipping at the tile transition to the bathroom but Justin offered to pay to fix it. We just negotiated the price down for phase three. I was able to fix it myself using some supplies from Ace Hardware and a YouTube video.
