Blueberry maple waffle beer
Andrew F.

Came here tonight for a while to chill out. It was a Monday so it was slow but I prefer it like that. The bartender was excellent. I got two beers. One was a tap ( tasted like a melted dole whip, iykyk) the other was suggested and was delicious. Blueberry maple. I would definitely get both beers again. Also got some onion rings. They were delicious and the garlic aioli was the perfect addition. I did not get pictures of the onion rings. Will definitely come back here for the beer and try other food as well.

Farmhouse Bowl

Farmhouse Bowl at Butcher and Brew at the Halcyon off exit 12 on 400. Best thing I've had in a while!!! Very healthy and hearty. I didn't need to add chicken or shrimp but you can add a choice of protein if desired. I also swapped beets for the mushrooms. Would definitely recommend and I need to remember it for when I crave veggies. Sweet potatoes, broccolini, avocado, tomato, beets (instead of mushrooms), and pickled onions. I literally cleaned my bowl - it was that good!

So much fun! We went here on Valentine's Day with no reservations, but ended up making one with the host at the front. As we waited we walked around the outdoor mall then made our way to the bar inside once enough spots opened up. Such great craft cocktails! Their cocktails were so unique and had some flavors I haven't seen in other places. The ambience was lovely and dark, which made everything feel so intimate. Once we sat at our table we had a complimentary champagne toast and bought a bottle of wine. The wine was presented professionally and was a tasteful Spanish red. I had the pasta which was good, not much to note on it. The waitress seemed fairly new and forgot to put in my husband's meal so he had to wait a while for his food. All in all, it was very good. I'm not sure if it's worth the hefty price tag that comes along with it but it was a nice experience nonetheless.

The food here was fantastic! The pigs in a blanket from their Oktoberfest menu were the best pigs in a blanket I've ever had! Unfortunately I forgot to take a pic of those but they're a must try. Also the island punch drink was very yummy. I usually don't finish my cocktails but I did this time. For my entree I got the steak meal and all of it was delicious as well. Would definitely come back here!

Brunch Menu

Have been to the Halcyon location a couple of times for Sunday brunch. This location is great for a larger party and has a lot of outdoor seating as well as indoor. It is much larger than its Main Street location. Plus parking is way easier since you have the free parking option of the parking garage at Halcyon. My first visit I had the 10am Burger. This was my first time trying pastrami and I think I'm hooked. I think about this burger probably more than one should think about burgers lol I'm not really a fan of their fries so I just let my friend have them. My second trip there I had the frittata. Yeah I probably wouldn't order this again. It was like eating flavorless egg whites that had a few pieces of sausage under it. When I hear frittata I expect essentially a Spanish omelette where the ingredients are mixed in the egg and baked. My friend wasn't happy with his either. He got a Sir Crunch A Lot. We actually ended up swapping both our drinks and our meals lol then we were happy. The Sir Crunch A Lot is basically like a hot ham and cheese sandwich with melted goodness on the outside. Or as Le Madeleine would call it, a Croque Monsieur. One thing I didn't realize till I asked, you are able to sample any of the beverages on the chalkboard before actually having to order it. This is now our go to place it seems for brunch.

I met a friend for dinner at the Halcyon, and we decided to try Butcher and Brew. Neither of us had been before, but we have both noticed it looks nice when we have been at Halcyon on other occasions. It is a gastropub and is really nice inside. We had a great experience, and our server was friendly and helped us decide what to order. They brought out complimentary seasoned popcorn, which is super unique, and it was delicious and fun to snack on while we waited for our food. I ordered the Nopsi (shrimp po boy) and it was good. The mac and cheese was delicious. I would highly recommend ordering that as a side! They have a great tap list, if you are into craft beer or cider. I ordered a cider when I was there. Definitely check it out if you haven't!

We tried the new menu at the Halcyon location and found it to be really overpriced and not as good as the old menu minus the mussels. I got the chicken sandwich for $15 and it came with no side so I got the side Caesar for $8. Another person ordered the French dip which was $25 with no side! For that price is needs to be an amazing French dip and sadly it was not. She only ate half of it and said the meat was fatty and didn't have much taste. She also got the side salad so a French dip with a side was $33. I think that's way too steep for what you're getting. I preferred the old chicken sandwich and the bowls. My husband did enjoy his mussels dish so if I return I'll try the salad as an entree.

Finally was able to try this darned sandwich, had tried twice before only to be told they ran out... (frustration).... It was ok, just ok.... I would come back here just because Allen is a nice place and it's conveniently located in the square, good but nothing to write home about.

Everything in the area is over priced. Everything was fine I had a salad and a beer. It took a while for my food to get to the table. The service was great! Everyone was kind and on top of service. The atmosphere is fun. We ate outdoors on a nice sunny day. There were people hanging out in the square near the restaurant.

Holiday hustle cocktail

This was our first visit. We came during the day on Thursday when it wasn't too busy. We were greeted immediately and told we could sit wherever we liked. Two different people brought us water and asked if we had any questions. I got the daily special "holiday hustle" cocktail and my Husband had a beer. The drink Was flavorful and strong. I also had a La Tortuga cocktail which was smaller but still robust (little too much banana flavor for my liking). We only ordered parmesan truffle fries because we were there just for a drink. They were delicious and pilled high. Overall good visit with great service from Shyla.

I was in the area to get a facial but had time to kill and needed a bite to eat. After leaving the Parking garage this is the first place I ran into. I walked through the door and asked for a table for 1. The wait staff immediately came over and greeted me with a complimentary bowl of popcorn!! If you know me, you know I LOVE popcorn. I tell myself it's good for me because it has fiber. Anyway, I opted to order the tropical bowl and the truffle Parmesan fries. Yes, a healthy dish and some junk food!! My order came out in no time. I was actually really surprised at how quick the food was ready. I enjoyed the fries, although I would say they have a more Parmesan than truffle taste. The bowl was huge and beautiful. It was full of healthy items and actually kept me full for the rest of the day! Overall I would say this is a spot to check out for petty decent food. If you are in the area stop in and at least try the complimentary popcorn! Well order, something so you can get the popcorn!

While it used to be our go-to spot, some recent consistency issues with the food are making it harder to keep it at the top of the list. On our last lunch visit, the Cuban sandwich arrived as just a regular sandwich--not hot or pressed at all--and the fries were cold. To their credit, our waitress sent it back and the second version was much better. However, brunch was a different story. The yogurt parfait was mostly just melons with maybe a tablespoon of yogurt. The grits also missed the mark with a very overpowering chicken stock flavor. I usually try to bring home leftovers to reinvent or "doctor up" so as not to waste food, but even recooking these at home with plenty of cream and butter couldn't mask that heavy chicken taste. We didn't get a chance to send them back at the table because our server didn't return until we were ready for the check, so we ended up paying for a meal we didn't really eat. The atmosphere remains a huge plus. The upstairs area is 21+, which is fantastic for watching sports or having a more adult-focused outing. They also have great outdoor seating, which is perfect for enjoying the Georgia weather. One thing that's a bit confusing is the policy difference between locations. They don't offer bottomless mimosas at the Halcyon spot, even though they do at the Dunwoody and Brookhaven locations. It's a bit of a letdown when you're expecting the same experience across the brand. In the end it's a great atmosphere for a "gals' outing" or catching a game, but I'm hoping they can get the kitchen back to the consistent quality we used to expect.

My wife was intrigued by the Blood Orange Gin and Tonic and I selected the Kolsch from a local brewery in Roswell. We dug into the Cauliflower appetizer before I even had a chance to take a photo. They were very spicy and appealing ! We then ordered our mains (Quinoa bowl) for my wife and the Cuban sandwich for myself. She finished her bowl and I saved half of my Cuban for lunch the next day. We enjoyed the tastes and did not feel rushed at all. A light rain began so it was nice being seated inside and staying dry. Adam took very good care of us and stopped by to make sure we were all good. The lunch crowd had floated away and we took in some quiet time just being in the moment. All in with tip was $80. So we have another visit in our future for sure.

There has been some new owners recently so the menu changed a bit, but i find the quality of the food to always be spectacular for a 'sports bar' where i want both super high quality food and a chance to see one more more games on decent quality TVs, and they do this really well, one really large tv and some mid sized in the bar area gets you so you can see 2 or 3 games at once. I would say though, they need to get two more TVs mounted behind the bar area so there would be more options for games, but compared to many sports bars in this area, it far and away stands out as the great balance between food and the game. The wings here - off the chain good. Some of the best queso here, the wraps are good, shrimp is amazing - they do a pretty good job as a bar having some healthy options along with your typical fare, and I love that.

We ordered, and our food came out quickly. The tuna sandwich on ciabatta was amazing it reminded me of a good-quality, real deli sandwich! My wife loved the grouper tacos and sweet potato fries. Our son finished all of his chicken quesadilla, so I'd say it passed the kid test. Everyone was friendly and helpful, the food was very good, and we'll definitely be back. If this is all you will enjoy here - this is a 5-star establishment. Location in Avalon is another strong point of this establishment. Super convenient, although small. Food - is just not good. If you are drunk - then it is all right, otherwise it just doesn't cut it. I had hot dog - and I must say $1.50 Costco hot dog is way better. Wings - below average. Chicken tenders - the same. Fries are probably the best thing here. Service - just terrible. Outside of bartenders who are pretty happy and funny, the rest of service is hit or miss. First time I visited was awful. Second time around I had to walk up to server to place an order and ended up getting wrong beer multiple times on refills (how is getting the same refill a problem?). So 3-stars for this review is me being generous on account of great beer. I will however never order food here again.

Our table slanted down a bit, and that was a little awkward but the benefit was that condensation rolled to the end instead of into our laps. Also my chair had two metal dog bowls underneath that made a racket whenever I moved the chair. Our server was friendly but over shared often. For my meal I had the salmon with bourbon glaze. It was cooked properly and had good flavor. The lettuce leaf under it was different; I think I could have done without. The fish came with my choice of two sides and I picked the green beans and the cornbread stuffing. Both were quite salty. The green beans were not very green and overcooked. There were two elbow macaroni mixed in. The cornbread was mushy and covered in gravy. It tasted fine, I just would have preferred more texture. Both beers were very good. I had a sour to start that was like a very tart pink lemonade. The pink color came from blueberries but I'm not sure I detected any blueberry flavor. My second beer was That Coconut Porter and it was mellow and smooth with good coconut flavor and nice dark color. There was lots of street parking and many shops and restaurants in the area. A band began playing in the taproom next to the restaurant at some time. Also a large outdoor space that was full of kids running around playing as I was going home. Looked like a fun place for everyone.
