I bring my out-of-town friends here because of the fried green tomatoes and fried pickles. The burgers are consistantly good. The chicken fingers are surprisingly very good if you're not wanting a burger. The sandwiches are ok, but nobody goes there for them. This place is a very small bar/restaurant. The food is excellent. I had the patty melt and my wife had the cheesesteak. The au jus sauce was great with the cheesesteak and the meat on the patty melt was great with the grilled onions. Not a huge fan of the steak fries and I'd actually like to see a veggie burger on the menu so I could build my own burger and keep it a little more healthy. The staff was attentive and did a decent job keeping drinks full. I assume they make their burgers to order so it took a little more time. This is a no frills type place but they have a good burger. Apparently I should have gotten the onion rings because we heard they were excellent. OMG! I had the BEST shrimp poboy. It was filled with jumbo shrimp which were cooked to perfection, dressed on New Orleans style French bread. Reminds me of some of the "dives" in lower Louisiana! I haven't found anything on the menu that isn't good. My fav of course, is the fried pork chops. Mama's were a close second. The oddest thing happened last time I was there, and both my sister and myself were quite surprised at the rudeness of the server. Now this server has been there a long time, but she was a b**** that day. Just plain rude. The reason? I go there for the crunchy fried pork chops, and they serve them on top of the black eyed peas and rice. This was the first time I requested that the chops be on a separate plate, so both sides would be crunchy. Well, my heavens. You would have thought I had asked her to run out back and slaughter a different pig for my chop. Her entire demeanor changed and my sister and I were both quite surprised by her behavior. Now my sister eats there a lot more than I do, and she was very shocked at the servers attitude. I am a very good tipper - usually 30% but I left $2 that day, as my sister always does. She is not known for her great tips. LOL Next time I return I will ask for the chops on a separate place, as they were crunchy on both sides, and I don't get chops every day, and when I do, by darn, I want them the best I can get. read more

Went last night and they had a great 3 piece band. You can hear the band, and still converse with friends. Place was packed out. My only remaining star will be given when they upgrade bathrooms a bit. Could be nicer. Really solid food dishes, 2 buck domestic beers. Butch Cassidy's Cafe has a big reputation in our community for having the best burger around. I am just not sure I would say it is the best I have ever had or came close. Is it good? Absolutely! But it isnt something I would write home about. The fries are delicious though, much better than the onion rings. Parking is a little hard to get to when its a busier night. But it is great for a casual pop in dinner. I have never ordered any alcoholic drinks from here but my husband likes their beer selection, even though its limited compared to most bars in Mobile. The best burger in town. Period. If they're packed, just wait. It's worth your time. If you live within walking distance, call it in and pick it up. Besides burgers, they have two sandwiches that are not to be missed. The Hiram Ham & Cheese is amazing. You can get it cold if you want to but, assuming you don't hate hot sandwiches, hot is the way to go. It sounds simple but it really is an amazing hot sandwich. The steak sandwich is the other star here. Get it medium rare with grilled onion and cheese and you've got a take on the cheesesteak you won't soon forget. read more

We were at Butch Cassidy's a few years ago and were underwhelmed. The onion rings then were the one good item. We tried today once more in the hope that it would live up to the hype. The onion rings are still o.k. The Ambiance nothing to brag about. The hamburgers were just average. The Philly Sandwich was sliced, totally tasteless roast beef, with a few onions, some bell pepper and Swiss cheese on a large bun. The waitress asked if I wanted the au jus with it when I ordered. I was wondering why since I did not order a French Dip. I should have asked for it and soaked the Sandwich it may have imparted some flavor. But then, it may have been made of some powdered base. The beer was cold. The waitress was nice. All in all not worth the price. read more

Actually I rate zero stars. I ordered my food and the young lady told me it would be 25 minutes. Well once I arrived I was told that she forgot to send my order through causing me to wait another 25 mins mean while I'm on my lunch break. Cool restaurant. I like how its a dive bar that goes as a restaurant. Decor is cool. Been there a couple times and haven't had any complaints. The "Soontobefamous" Butch Burger is pretty good. Not stellar but good. On a recent trip, I had the fried pork chops with black beans, rice and corn bread. Pretty good too. A bit heavy for lunch so come starving. Parking is kind of a headache and they got rid of the old wooden door that set them apart from anybody else and a good place to go for bar food in Mobile! read more

However, the food was over priced and the quality just so-so. If the items were priced a couple dollars less, I would add a star. I just expect more from a 9-dollar burger.
