The burgers here are so freakin good. No special "gourmet ingredients" - just the perfect blend of mayo, ketchup, mustard lettuce, tomatoes and red onions. This is our absolute favorite burger place. Go there and you will be hooked. I had the opportunity to visit two days in a row, this week. So, I decided to try something different from the menu. I got the Shrimp Poboy. It was very good and pretty big, with lots of shrimp. (See pic). But, I won't get it again. It just doesn't compare with that perfect burger. Lesson learned. Still 5 stars - absolutely nothing wrong with the poboy - it just wasn't as good as the cheeseburgers! Someone in another review said they had "hand dipped" shakes. That is NOT TRUE. They have soft serve and it is excellent! They have make shakes, floats, sundaes, cones and even nanner splits. The soft serve is that icy kind that is SO GOOD. The CRINKLE CUT Fries are great dipped in ranch. Young, clean cut, super friendly staff are very helpful. Atmosphere- kind of a clean, diner-looking hole-in-the-wall. It is at exit 4 (4 miles from Mississippi line) from I-10 head north just a couple of miles - you can't miss it. Worth the trip EVERY TIME!! read more

It's really upsetting to see the quality of food go down. Sam's really used to have a great burger, I would stop by when I passed through. The visit tonight was terrible. Fries had little to no seasoning. The burger was bland, no structure. Aside from the food I was told the kids combo didn't come with fries, even though the menu clearly stated that it did. This place never fails with a great burger! I got the single bacon cheeseburger combo with crinkle cut fries and got their sweet tea for my drink. Even as a single burger it was all I could do to finish it. They piled on plenty of bacon! If you have room for dessert their ice cream bar gives you plenty of options. This is going to be short, sweet and succinctly to the point. I love Sam's Super Burger, and the only reason I don't go there more is because it's literally on the other side of the county from where I live. But when I find myself in Grand Bay Alabama, it's one of those places that is a guilty pleasure. The crew is always fantastic, greeting and serving you with small town charm, in a establishment that is clean and takes me back to the drive in diner I used to frequent as a teen in rural Idaho. Now this most recent visit brought me in for the Pina Colada milkshake that absolutely did not disappoint, creamy, flavorful, made with ingredients you know, and so thick that it collapses your straw when you try to suck it through. This is what a milkshake is all about! They have the best milkshakes anywhere in South Alabama, and it ain't even close. So when you're on Interstate 10 in Alabama and come to exit 4, it's worth that short drive from the freeway to experience Sam's Super Burger. This place is my son's favorite fast food place and wants to visit every time he's home from college. I like their chicken C.O.B. Sandwich. I don't eat hear all that often but only because I'm doing keto. They do have a chicken salad if like me you're trying to eat healthier. They are a locally owned restaurant. They cook things to order so don't expect service as fast as a fast food place but that's part of the appeal. read more

What a fantastic find! We were in the area for my daughter's high school soccer tournament and needed to grab some lunch between games when we found this little place. It's a really small place, and it was packed. But I tell you, it was so worth it. We stood in line in a tight space with a lot of other people and placed our order. She took our name, and I grabbed a table while my husband fixed our drinks. There was about a 12 minute wait for our food, but it was to be expected based on the amount of people there. The food came out piping hot and was absolutely delicious. I chose the fried chicken sandwich, which was delectable. The chicken was fluffy and juicy, not greasy. The fries were great, but the sandwich was so filling that I couldn't finish them. My husband got the cheeseburger and it was mouthwatering as well. I stole a bite, and it reminded me of the burgers from Steak n Shake, but with thicker meat. All of the workers were young, high school or college girls, but very friendly. The bathrooms are outside, which was odd, but they were recently remodeled and very nicely done. I included a photo, which is something I don't typically snap a photo of, but I had to! We stopped here on our way back from Mississippi because my husband and niece insisted it was the best. I was with my aunt, uncle, 2 nieces, and my husband. I had the bacon cheese burger which was great! It tasted fresh and there was plenty of bacon, which is always a plus! The beef was cooked to order and a very nice portion. I also ordered chili and cheese to top my fries and it was legit!! One of my nieces had the fried chicken sandwich which was on a seeded hoagie roll (different twist) instead of a round bun. She loved it as well as her cheese fries. The chili dog that my aunt ordered was huge and she said it was fabulous. The sweet tea was also wonderful. Some may not care about that, but we sure do!!! Every time I visit my family in Mobile, AL, I pass up Sam's Super Burger, as it is on my route. Without fail, we always stop on our way home to get a chocolate malt through the drive thru, as there's nothing like a cold malt on a hot summer/spring day. Besides, the store is located right of I-10 at the Grand Bay exit so there's no reason NOT to stop here. Besides, who doesn't love ice cream? Unfortunately, all I can really talk about is the chocolate malts, as I have never tried a burger or fries here. The good news is that the malts are delicious. They put just enough malt powder that you get that throat "burn" from all the malt powder. I hope y'all know what I'm talking about and don't sound like some kind of freak. Let's just say that I like a lot of malt powder in my malts. Now, imagine my displeasure this past Sunday as I pulled in the drive thru and saw the sign stating that their ice cream machine was broken. No malt for me! :-( However, my past "malt only" experiences here were always good. Hence the 3 star rating. Next trip, I'm trying a burger and will update this review. read more
