We used Heidi for college graduation flowers. We scheduled for a drop off at our hotel at 8 am, which was really kind of Heidi to begin with, but when we learned that we really needed to depart the hotel at 7 am, she happily arrived at 6:55 with beautiful flowers. If we ever need flowers in the Boston area again, Heidi's Busy Bee Florist will be the only place for us! Thank you Heidi! read more

Recently I ordered a bouquet for a 100th Birthday. Recipient, a cousin, lived in New York City. Heidi went above and beyond to select and speak to the NYC florist to ensure a beautiful bouquet was timely delivered to my cousin. Bouquet was spectacular & reasonably priced!! A zero would be too high of a rating but unfortunately one star is the lowest rating possible. The owner is rude, unprofessional and unkind. This makes the flowers irrelevant. I try to support local, small businesses. I have purchased many flowers from this shop over the years. Most were online with delivery. Thankfully any of the times I was in the shop I had minimal interactions with the owner. I recently called the shop and spoke with Heidi to order an arrangement for my brother in-law's burial. I explained that this was especially difficult as he was killed in an accident. We decided on an arrangement, a price and a day/time that I would pick them up. When I arrived for pick-up the flowers were more expensive than the price we discussed. No explanation was given and when I asked about it she said it was because she used more roses. I think that any consumer would agree that a business should never change an invoice without notifying the customer. It doesn't matter if it is for $15 or $500. There was a price and it was agreed upon. If she wanted to change things, she needed to check with me first Her response was unprofessional and unkind. "You am never happy" and went off about the flowers, etc. I did complain ONCE about a delivery that was VERY small and skimpy compared to the photo and the price. What she said was untrue and uncalled for. When I told her that I could not have this conversation with her on this specific day as I was going to a funeral (which she knew) and to please just run my credit card, she did not stop. I had to ask her again to please stop talking and to just run my credit card. The icing on the cake was that my credit card was charged TWICE for this arrangement, which was several hundred dollars. That was an ordeal itself to get it corrected. I will NEVER purchase flowers from this business again. I hope whatever satisfaction she got from being so unkind to me on such a difficult day was worth it. read more

My husband has been going through chemo every 2 weeks, and his mom, who lives in Texas, sends him flowers the day after each round of chemo. She'd been using a florist in Norwood, and I felt bad for them having to drive all the way to Newtonville, when Busy Bee is right down the street. So I told her about them, and a gorgeous arrangement arrived yesterday. The flowers are fresh and beautiful, and the arrangement is elegant. No carnations (I'm not a fan) - all roses, lilies, other stunning flowers - wonderful. read more

Busy Bee Florist at 337 Watertown St, Newton, MA 02458 is a hidden treasure. The owner listened to my flower needs and cared deeply about me and her other customers. She made sure I left her shop with fresh flowers & a healthy plant. Her customer service was a joy to experience. Bottom line........Heidi speaks "Flowers and Plants". The store may be small, yet I know she cares about every customer that enters her shop. Charlotte K read more

I live out of state and ordered flowers for my mother for Mother's Day this year. I ordered through their website on Tuesday May 7th for a Friday May 10th delivery. I have attached the picture of the arrangement I selected. I went with the "premium" option as well to have them look even better. Today, early Friday afternoon I called to confirm they would be delivered to my mother's office in Newton. I mentioned they would need to arrive before 4pm as that is when her office closes. I also added this note to my order at check out as well. At 1:06 the shop called back and said they were on the truck for dispatch. Around 3 they had still not arrived so I called back. The woman on the phone said they could arrive as late as 5pm and I reminded them of the note I left with my order. She reassured they would be delivered by 4 and to call back at 3:30 if they weren't. The flowers arrived at my mother's office right around 3:30. I have attached pictures of what was sent to her. The arrangement received looks absolutely nothing like the flowers I ordered. I understand sometimes flowers need to be subbed out depending on the time of year and stock but this arrangement looks like it was put together last minute with leftover flowers. I am appalled. I will be calling them first thing Monday morning and asking for an email that I can send these pictures to so they can see the huge difference and will be asking for my money back. If you want to have faith your arrangement will look like the pictures online do not order or shop here. I am highly disappointed and will use other florists in Newton and Watertown in the future. read more

Heidi Carman - Mothers Day Bouquet "Breazy by the Sea" - Florists Near Me - Newton, Massachusetts

Busy Bee is a wonderful flower shop located in Newton. Heidi, the owner, has a very warm and welcoming personality. She and her daughter have a great eye for creating both traditional and unique flower arrangements. I've been buying flowers from Busy Bee for a few years now, for all sorts of occasions, and I always receive compliments on how beautiful they are. As soon as we started planning our wedding I knew I would use Busy Bee for our wedding flowers. Heidi was such a pleasure to work with through the entire process of planning the wedding flowers. I brought a color swatch of the bridesmaid dress to the scheduled appointment, and In a few hours we were able to plan out all the church flowers, bouquets and center pieces for the reception. I really appreciated how knowledgable, patient and sincerely enthusiastic Heidi was the whole time. I felt no pressure and it was a stress-free experience! The day of our wedding, Heidi and her daughter Astrid arrived ahead of schedule to deliver the bouquets and church flowers. They were gorgeous and exactly what I had envisioned! The bridesmaids and I were amazed at the quality of the roses and how perfectly they had opened and arranged them. When we arrived at the reception site in Boylston, MA, I was greeted by our onsite wedding coordinator, who raved about Heidi and Astrid. She described to me how Heidi and Astrid arrived on time and had meticulously finished putting together the centerpieces onsite, making sure that everything looked perfect. Their hard work and passion came across because we received numerous comments on how great all the flowers were. I really feel we got our money's worth and more, by going with Busy Bee for our wedding flowers. I highly recommend them and I'll continue to shop there for all my flower needs. read more

Phenomenal!!! I can't say enough great things about this business. Busy Bee did our wedding flowers and they were so unique, colorful, beautiful, textural, etc etc etc!!! I've never been so excited about flowers in my entire life!! I wore a floral wedding dress, so I was a little nervous about what type of bouquet I would have. I met with Christina and the owner a few times to go over things. I enjoyed every visit there. They were all so personable, professional, and filled with great ideas. I showed them inspiration pictures and what they made for my wedding was better than anything I printed out from the internet! I wish I could give Busy Bee 10 stars! We have one happy bride here :) Oh and the centerpieces...our guests were practically fighting over them. Way to go Busy Bee!! You made our day extra special and extra colorful! read more

I lived in Newton for 4 years and most weekends always drove by Busy Bee Florist. I knew once I started planning my wedding that I wanted local vendors involved. From the second I met Heidi she was so warm and inviting and I knew she was going to make my wedding flowers special. On August 17, 2018 my husband and I were married at Lakeview Pavilion in Foxborough, MA and when we walked into the ballroom we were blown away! Heidi took the exact photos I gave her and made them come to life. The flowers were gorgeous and she far exceeded our expectations. We received comments all night about how beautiful our centerpieces were. Heidi even made special golf tee boutonniere's to go with our golf theme and she made them look so perfect! Busy Bee Florist will always have a very special place in our hearts. Thank You for making our dream come to life! -Adrienne & Darren read more

Wish I could give a 0. Worse experience I've ever had. The older lady helping us was rude and judgmental. My fiancé and I came in looking for a potential flower arrangement for my elopement. It is Thursday so we knew it was a very hard request so we expected to just create one with what was in stock even if it was just a bunch of eucalyptus. I just wanted a boho look anything but traditional, roses or white. I used yes ma'am and no ma'am the whole time. I liked the orchids that were to purchase. She acted like I didn't qualify for orchids since they were $3.50 a steam. (I was ready to spend $200 on a very small arrangement that may consist of 3 flowers and rest greenery. But being judged was offensive. That isn't the worse part when she finally knew I didn't mind paying she brought out more orchids from the back. I actually liked the dark ones she had in stock. I would have been fine with 3 stems and greenery. When I told her I was wearing black for my dress she was like "I assume you're not a virgin then" (she wasn't even joking). She then advised with black I would need to do white lilies. They were pretty but I didn't think it would go with my aesthetic. She goes to say it's drama. I again politely said I personally didn't feel like they were drama and she persist to rudely say yes they were and talk down to me. At that time I felt so disrespected and judged I left. Never felt so disrespected in my life. This is an experience I would ever wish for any bride to have before their special day. read more

Heidi Carman - Unacceptable. - Florists Near Me - Newton, Massachusetts

My mother found this place online and ordered a bouquet to be delivered to my house because of the good reviews. However, 7 days later the flowers never came. Finally my mother asked about them, so I called. 5 times in one day and no one answered. I stopped in that weekend to see what happened. I spoke with 2 young women who said they left a voicemail (I have an iphone....there were no voicemails. I double checked.) to schedule a pick up time. They called twice on the day flowers were to be delivered, and then never again. Lying in front of other customers is inexcusable and a little shocking. The other customers in the shop took notice of the conversation when I said "...were never delivered." I guess she had no choice but to lie about a voicemail at that point?? Said they would remake the bouquet and deliver on Monday. No apology, no attempt at excuses. It's Tuesday....no flowers. No calls. No voicemails. So I called. Again. The woman on the phone took my info and apologized, saying she would look into it and call me back. I'm only half expecting a call. I'm done with delivery, instead I'll just pick them up myself. If my mother hadn't ruined the surprise and asked me about the flowers, I never would have received them or known they existed. This florist would have taken her money without any kind of flowers. Terrible. They seem like nice people, but I can't recommend anyone use them. I have no idea how they build a loyal customer base like this. Hopefully, I do receive the flowers and they are beautiful. Unfortunately, absolutely stay away. read more

I worked at Busy Bee for one day. The directions to the delivery points were wrong and more often than not there was nobody at the addresses to accept the flowers. I give a huge high five to Heidi and her team for creating unbelievable arrangements for my May 2014 wedding! Heidi was very receptive to my ideas and added some ideas that turned out fantastic. I order for 18 bouquets of baby's breath to be picked up the day before the wedding for me to arrange in paper cones on the pew markers. When I arrived the day before, the flowers were sitting by the front door waiting for me to pick them up! Our wedding was on a Saturday morning, and I needed the flowers to be delivered by 8:30 am; Heidi was right on time! My bouquet of peonies and lily of the valley was STUNNING, and I received so many compliments. All of the corsages and boutonnieres were perfect and lasted all day. I have ordered flowers twice from Busy Bee. One was a Birthday arrangement- The other was a sympathy arrangement. I always recommend this business and my entire family orders their arrangements from this business as well. 5 stars from me! read more

Busy Bee saved the day for me! I had ordered a couple boutonnières the day before our prom from another florist I found on the internet. I ordered white roses with coloured ribbons to match. The next day, a woman delivered 2 wilted small white roses with dirty rusty looking brown petals without any ribbons to my home and said she just made them so they were "really fresh" and left! I didn't know what to say. A few minutes later I realized I could not send off the kids to the prom with these ugly dead roses on their gorgeous tuxedos. I called Busy Bee & explained my situation. In under 45 minutes, they immediately made up the replacement boutonnières with beautiful large white roses with baby's breath, etc. Don't use any other florist in Newton. Busy Bee did great work, not just for me. All the work they did that day was beautiful. Thank you Busy Bee! read more

I was so disappointed with this place. I spoke with the owner about doing a floral arrangement delivery for my friend whose father had passed away. I specifically said I wanted the colors to be muted and pastel -- nothing loud, since that seemed disrespectful and weird for a sad occasion. She assured me that she'd use those guidelines (&, indeed, even acted like the above color scheme went without saying for a somber occasion). When I mentioned that I knew someone who worked there, she added, "I'll do a great job for you." The next day, my friend received the arrangement -- the arrangement was bright and festive..something far more befitting a birthday/happy occasion than a death in the family. I was so embarrassed by this error. It was nothing like what we'd discussed for about 10min the day before. Also, the accompanying card was printed with a non-sensical message. Luckily my friend has a good sense of humor (tho she did agree with me that these mistakes would have been mortifying if the arrangement had been sent to a boss or displayed at the front of the church for a service. I called the next day to complain. A young man answered and explained that she was out at an event. He was apologetic when I explained the situation and took down a message for me, saying she'd call me when she was back in the store..this was a Sat and she'd therefore be calling on the Mon). It is Wed and I have heard nothing. I've realized, since reading others' negative reviews on here, that I should consider myself "lucky" that the arrangement was delivered at all. But that is such a shockingly low standard. I was trying to support a local & independent business by ordering from here, but I am left wondering how this place has stayed in business at all, let alone for years & years. read more

Busy Bee is, plain and simply, a great flower shop. The owners name is Heidi, and she and her daughter run the show. I was recommended to go to Busy Bee for wedding flowers by my hairdresser. She had her flowers done by Busy Bee and couldn't have been happier with the results. Heidi made it very easy to schedule a time to come in and bring in my ideas for colors. Once I showed her my colors and some photos of bouquets and styles that I liked, she got excited and started pulling flowers and inspiration pictures from around the shop. Heidi clearly loves what she does, and that in itself makes it easy to work with her. We left after booking her, and didn't visit another flower shop. In the end we couldn't have been happier with our wedding flowers- just gorgeous. She took our ideas and put her own creative spin on the arrangements. We received so many compliments that evening, as guests truly hadn't seen arrangements like this before. Flowers are expensive of course, but I feel like the value we got for what we spent was fair. My husband and father now visit Busy Bee every time they want to pick up some flowers. Highly recommended. read more

I am writing this review as I am waiting for a bouquet. I walked in and asked for a quick bouquet to put together for about $20.00 using the flowers that are in season now as I did not have time to cut from my garden. I barely got any acknowledgment from any of the 4 women in the establishment. There's an adorable dog that gave me more attention. I asked a question and got no response. The bouquet, sub par. I'm regretting the fact that I even stepped foot in this place. The flowers they gave me fell short of carnations. A yellow lily and fillers. Thanks but no thanks. read more

Heidi is a creative florist and her arrangements are beautiful, however she is really disorganized and not able to handle basic things like delivering an accurate price quote. She really left me in a bind right before my wedding. When we initially met she did not factor labor and taxes into her estimate. We did not receive a total amount until two weeks before the wedding date and when we did, it was $1200 more than the total we had initially discussed. She was completely unwilling to work with me to bring the cost down, and spent much of the time telling me how sorry she felt for me because I had picked a complicated venue. She complained to me that she was not making any money off of me, she complained that her staff was disorganized, she complained that my caterer was costing too much. I ended up spending a lot of time dealing with her emotions, and I ultimately could not afford her for the wedding, and had to go elsewhere at the last minute. read more

The busy bee is a GREAT place to be stung. Especially if you are an employee, customer, mailman, or one not fond of fascism. If you are considering working here....RUN! You will be shorted cash, talked down to, lectured on politics, and abused simply for being human. This is a toxic environment in which even flowers require therapy. Visitors are welcome. I had a terrible experience using the online service - nothing was ever delivered AND I was charged nearly $50! At the end of February, I selected my flowers for delivery, paid for the service, received email confirmation, and assumed that the flowers had been delivered when I had asked them to be. AT THE END OF MARCH, I received an email saying that the flowers were unable to be delivered because there was an "flu epidemic" amongst ALL the employees, and that, quote, "Owner and staff were out for 10 days and our virtual wib [sic] site was not shut off for orders." Only about a week after this did I receive a refund to my credit card account, which had already gone through a full cycle. Needless to say, the damage had already been done - the people who were supposed to receive the flowers as an expression of gratitude likely thought that I had overlooked their generosity, and it was far too late to try to send something else. I sent an email expressing my displeasure to Busy Bee and they didn't even have the courtesy to respond. They also signed me up for their mailing list, which I obviously resent!
