I drove from…read moreVirginia to North Carolina, and when I arrived, I immediately noticed a strange noise coming from my car. I was feeling overwhelmed After receiving an estimate from another shop that didn't properly check my car, my car was was now facing the possibility of a $1,600 repair without even knowing what was really wrong. I turned to Yelp for help. Within 15 minutes of submitting a request, Phil called me. He carefully listened to my concerns, reviewed the videos I sent, and offered honest advice. He explained the worst-case scenarios but also talked about potential minor issues that could be causing the noise. Phil's honesty and transparency immediately put me at ease. He told me to bring the car in first thing the next morning. When I arrived, Phil made me feel right at home. He took a thorough look at my car ("Betty," as I call her), and without hesitation, called his buddy to deliver the timing chain guide. While working on my car, Phil explained what went wrong and showed me the worn-out parts. He even took us on a test drive to make sure the engine was okay and topped off my oil. We were at Phil's shop from 8:30 AM to about 12:30 PM, and during that time, Phil made sure we felt comfortable. He shared the beauty of his property with us, from his cows to the peaceful creek in his backyard, and entertained us with great stories. His kindness and hospitality made all the difference. I'm beyond thankful for Phil's honesty, care, and transparency throughout the entire process. He didn't just treat me like another customer; he took the time to listen, explain, and fix my car in the most honest and cost-effective way possible. If you ever find yourself in need of a mechanic who truly cares about you and your car, Phil is your guy. Phil, if you read this, please know we will never forget how you helped us, and we'll be sure to drop by some goodies as a token of our appreciation. Thank you ($400) Phils Charge

We suspect we hit residual hurricane Helene clean up debris in the road. We have AAA but before they could assist us, a very nice gentleman who lived where we were stopped graciously changed our tire for us with our spare tire. He then mentioned that Woodlawn Tire shop was just a couple more miles up the road so we could fix/purchase a tire and thankfully it was the afternoon so they were still open. When we got to Woodlawn, we were greeted warmly and attended to immediately. Unfortunately there was a huge gaping hole in the tire so it could not be repaired. At first they suggested a used tire to have similar tread wear and to keep cost low, but as we were traveling from GA and would be traveling quite a bit, the manager agreed with me that a new tire would be the better option. Thankfully they had the correct size in stock and got right to work immediately mounting the new tire and replacing the spare back back into its place. And the price was very good considering we were a captive audience! When I got back home, my husband said it was an excellent price! And with the wonderful gentleman helping us on the side of the road and Woodlawn taking care of us so quickly, we only lost one hour on this crisis. I would highly recommend Woodlawn Tire and am very grateful for their service!

I thought it would need towed for service, but as it turns out I was right next to Scott's Auto Service. I walked over to the shop and they brought it over for a quick look, saying it was an issue with the rear differential and transfer case. Instead of jumping to an easy solution of buying expensive new components they suggested breaking it down further to find the best solution. In the end, they were able to repair it at a fraction of what I would have paid at a dealership. Scott and his mechanics were honest, friendly and easy to deal with throughout the process.

I spoke with Stephanie who was really helpful. She would send a tow truck out. It would be $50 to jump start or if it needed to be towed to my dealership (40 miles away) it would be $150. Both seemed reasonable. Granted, it did take about an hour before the truck showed up - but honestly, I don't think I've ever had a tow truck show up before an hour. The truck operators were polite, friendly and apologetic. They got her started and analyzed that the battery was the issue, not the starter or alternator. I followed them back to their shop to settle up. It was verified by a mechanic on site that the battery was the issue and I was given a quote for the battery. The only reason I didn't get one there was that the car might need the computer/electronics reset at the dealership afterwards anyway. I was impressed by their honesty and professionalism. The cost was $50 as they had stated. I recommend them!
