Late in the evening - around 9:00 p.m. - we called an emergency pediatric dental advice line that some Bay Area dentists participate in, hoping to get immediate guidance. Thankfully, Dr. Ozzie answered my call. She stayed on the phone with me for nearly 45 minutes, carefully listening as I explained what the ER had shared. She even texted me from her personal phone so I could send X-rays, reviewed them thoroughly, and provided a clear diagnosis along with thoughtful guidance on what to discuss with our pediatric orthodontist. Beyond that, she generously shared additional insights about children's breathing and what to address with our pediatrician before adult teeth come in. It was immediately obvious how knowledgeable Dr. Ozzie is - but even more evident is how much she genuinely cares about children and her work. What makes this experience so remarkable is that it was entirely over the phone: I had never met her, we didn't have an appointment, and this was simply a random emergency call to the first available pediatric dentist. Yet she treated us with incredible kindness, patience, and attention. I have never encountered a dentist like Dr. Ozzie. I only wish our insurance were in-network with her practice. Then they refused to let me pay a cent. My niece has spent this whole trip telling us how kind Americans are. She called her mom afterward to gush about it. Her mom was stunned that a practice would do that for a stranger passing through. Unfortunately, my last two appointments have completely changed how I feel about this office. I'm currently going through Invisalign, and at one appointment I told them that my aligner was not fitting correctly. I felt rushed out and was told it would fix itself over time. It didn't. I dealt with weeks of discomfort, and at my next appointment they ended up having to remove a bracket just to get the aligner to fit properly. It was frustrating knowing I had brought up the issue weeks earlier and felt like my concern wasn't taken seriously. My most recent appointment was even more disappointing. I was already in pain because of cavities and repeatedly told the woman assisting the doctor that I was hurting. Instead of showing any concern, she seemed annoyed, rolled her eyes, and was extremely passive-aggressive with me. At the beginning of the appointment, she told me she would let the doctor know that I was still having an issue with my aligner. Toward the end, I realized she never told him. When I asked if the doctor was going to come check it, her response was, "You can wait if you want, but he's busy." After the appointment, I called the office to explain that I had a really bad experience and asked that I not be scheduled with that staff member again. The response was basically, "Okay, I'll let them know." No apology, no questions about what happened, and no concern about why a patient of four years was calling upset about their treatment. I understand that offices get busy, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to be treated with respect and taken seriously when I'm in pain or when something with my treatment doesn't feel right. After being a loyal patient for four years, this experience was really disappointing
