Well that was a heavenly night out…read more Our first restaurant meal in Vienna, so it had to be Wiener schnitzel. Perfect veal pieces with a perfectly golden, bubbled crumb, as large as our plate. Heaven. Potato salad - perfect; a little on the sweeter side. No mayo here, as it should be. Also, we were craving veg, so ordered the rucola salad. This being Austria, it was covered in ham and a sharp cheese. I'm not complaining The room had a simple, cozy cellar bar feel. It was a tad warm inside. Friendly service. Although I tried my best with German they also spoke excellent English. Drinks wise - hubby enjoyed the lager beer and I loved the Weiss gespritzt. At €3,90 a glass, I was happy! They were busy so recommend booking. Fantastic meal, highly recommend!

I was worried this place was over-hyped and more of a place you have to "check off the list" than somewhere you want to eat because of the food. If you have any doubts like I did, forget about them because this was actually the best schnitzel we had on our trip! Their potato salad and tomato salads, also amazing! I love that they had option for their schnitzel - the chicken and original were our favorites! Definitely check this spot out when in Vienna - you won't be disappointed!

I had a reservation at 11:30am and there was already an insane line just to get in. Then once they opened the doors other groups of people completely ignore the line outside and just start rushing in. They're in absolutely no rush to seat you so don't have any hope that they'll let you in early. Once you're seated the service is pretty fast. The schnitzel is quite large and good for sharing. I had the original schnitzel with pork. It was thin and crispy but under seasoned in my opinion. The potato salad was the star for me I could have had one all to myself. It was creamy, a little sweet, and tangy. I also tried the soup with clear beef broth and sliced pancakes. Nothing memorable but a nice clean soup if you're in the mood.

Nondescript from the outside, the interior seems to have seen better days but what is truly beautiful is the enclosed terrace with its little pond, the different sections, the plants and flowers. The food is wonderful, definitely bordering on fine dining. If you happen to be there for the famed "Candle Light Dinner" (a seven course meal consisting of seasonal delicacies) you will think you've gone to culinary heaven. Not to be missed and definitely the best restaurant in a wide radius.

Food dreams can be restored in future nights to come. I guess I just did not care what anyone thought. I took pics anyway. I just thought I was being sensitive to other patrons. Let's just say I tried to not be too obnoxious about it. So, yes I did consume with my camera first! I can say with absolute certainty, that this was our most perfect and intimate dining experience in Vienna. It was just lunch! The surrounding patrons appeared to be locals with huge platters of piping hot Wienerschnitzel, succulent looking meat falling off the bone....oh my, I could go on and on. Lord help me, that was a great experience. I ordered an exquisite Riesling that was perfect with my meal. I ordered the Goose Soup to start with. I shake my head now in disbelief of how perfect this soup was and LUSCIOUS. It had this potato dumpling in the middle that absorbed the creamy broth with every single bite. I was sad to see the dumpling and soup go away as I savored every spoonful. My husband had a potato soup that included mushrooms and he was pretty much freaking out about his soup as much as I was (in his own, subdued, calm manner....opposite mine!). Then Meine Damen und Herren. We have the Weinerschnitzel. Oh my goodness. We split the massive and simply prepared veal weinerschnitzel with the lemon wedge squeezing the only and perfect seasoning you need for this deliciousness in front of you. I cannot even express the greatness of the potato salad that accompanies. Smooth and creamy mustardy goodness. I would seek out this restaurant again. If every authentic Keller type dining experience is this good in Vienna; I am in big trouble!
