I have been there since I moved to Anderson at least 30 times. Have always had an exceptional experience. I will say, though our last visit this week was not the greatest.. service was fantastic as always the problem is the beef in the enchilada. The taco and burrito had no flavor whatsoever.. the beef in the Chili relleno was also terrible and it appears that someone different from the last two years was cooking. We did not complain. We're not really complainers, but I will say it's sad to see such a great history of experiences, be let down in the kitchen. I cook a lot myself, and I don't know if the cook forgot to season the meat or what, but it was really not good at all. I hope they get it together, even when Javier is not there. Seems to run like clockwork when he is present. I tried to order a chorizo taco even at an up charge. I volunteered to go with one of their combination dinners they wouldn't let me. Also the combination dinners don't come with rice and beans that makes no sense to me.. it wasn't cheap either. It was $40 for two no alcohol anyway I hope someone reads this that matters. Came in after a winter hike around Mounds State Park. It has lots of parking in a private lot and a very bright building that you can't miss. First up was free chips and salsa, which was the perfect app and intro to the lunch meal. I opted for one of the many vegetarian meals. It had three different pieces to the meal. I've lived in the area for over a year and had Burro Loco in the back of my mind, I finally had a night to check it out when I was craving some chips and salsa. It was a nice way to end my carb-eating week before settling back into the boring low-carb life. Ugghh. But back to those deep-fried burritos, or chimichangas, as most restaurants call them. I have the chicken chimichanga and it was good, smaller in size than I've normally seen them BUT definitely more than enough to fill me up. It came with rice, beans, sour cream, and guacamole. Pretty decent for under $10. My husband had something similar, but his came with TWO chimichangas and no sour cream or guac. Their salsa is great! Mild and not spicy, but good! The menu is pretty big and they have lunch specials and combo meals available. The service could have used some more attention, we stood and waited a bit to be greeted or sat even though the restaurant wasn't busy. Our waiter wasn't very interactive but did fill up our salsa and drinks promptly. I've had some bad Mexican food in my life, and Burro Loco tops that list. That is a pretty bold statement, but it is also a true statement. However, I am giving this place two stars instead of one because of their chips and salsa. The chips and salsa here are very good. I could see a person having an enjoyable time if they just ordered chips and salsa, and maybe an alcoholic drink or two. Anything beyond that is an exercise in disappointment. I ordered a combination plate which included a tamale, enchilada and taco. I was in a party of 10, and everyone got their order except me. The server asked me again what I ordered, then gave me a plate that included an enchilada and tostada, and said to me: "Here, just eat this while I get your food." Um ... OK? Let me eat this random food that I didn't order? I should mention that the enchilada and tostada were lukewarm and covered with ground beef. You're probably thinking, "Yum, I love ground beef," but these were COVERED like someone needed to get rid of the last of the ground beef and decided to just dump it on the plate. When I finally got the plate of food that I ordered, it, too, was covered with ground beef. All of it. Covered. With ground beef. Is this a signature thing with Burro Loco, to cover everything with ground beef? This plate of food, like the first plate of food, was lukewarm. By this time, I just wanted my meal to be over and I was happy that I had filled myself with so many chips and so much salsa. I'm not quite sure why this place gets such high ratings. I've gotten the quesadilla and taco salad so far, and they were both great (sorry, I forgot to take pictures!). My boyfriend has celiac and is very sensitive to any cross contamination, but he has eaten here multiple times with no reaction, so it's nice to find a place that has gluten free options and is a safe place for him to eat! read more

Really great Mexican! Chips and salsa were a great starter while we waited on our food. Salsa was tasty although if you don't like cilantro you will not like it. Chips were hot and fresh without being greasy. Just a warning - if you ask for a second basket of chips you are charged for them.
