So nice to easily get in and out of a booth! Absolutely amazing food! I had a Carnitas and shrimp fajita- absolutely delicious. Shrimp was perfect- not over cooked but incredibly sweet & tender. My DH had a combo plate. Neither of us were able to finish so we will enjoy the leftovers today! The flan was an added delight! All I can say is we waited far too long to find our new favorite Mexican restaurant in Anderson! They have so many more options to try on the menu so we are going back!

After a rousing, fun-filled visit to Uranus Fudge Factory, we asked one of the staff where we could…read morefind a good place for lunch. We specified no a chain restaurant, but somewhere local. Her immediate, first answer was BYOB. Full Stop. Build Your Own Burrito? I think this was the easier lunch decision we've ever made. "Waze, navigate me to BYOB". Less than a ten minute drive later and there we were. First thing's first: You can't miss this place. It's painted bright teal and definitely stands out from its surroundings. BYOB isn't a fancy, sit-down, full-service affair. It's a place with probably a dozen tables set about the area. What is 100% unique about BYOB is the ordering method. There's no menu board. There's no tri-fold menu on the table. At BYOB there are holders with 3 different colored pieces of paper. Each one of those has the menu for that particular food item (Tacos, Burritos, or Bowls). There are also golf pencils. You fill out your order on your yellow, pink, or green order slip and present it at the register. I think this is SERIOUSLY cool. We asked the gentleman at the counter what he would recommend (our first visit and all) and he said they're known for their Wet Tacos. Just about anything with the word "taco" is an easy sell for me, so my wife and I got that. No need to peruse the menu slips for this. If the person behind the counter says "It's what we're known for", that's enough for us. Maybe ten minutes later our Wet Tacos arrived...and Holy. Hell. They were awesome. They were amazing. They were incredible. They were unbelievable. (I'm running out of adjectives). They were magnificent. (ok, I'll stop there). But seriously. There's a lot of magic going on there. I've eaten a lot of tacos in my time and these just raised the bar.....HIGH. The staff we encountered (all both of them) were awesome and you could tell they enjoyed working at BYOB. They were also quick to clear tables after visitors left, making sure the place was kept clean. I'm pretty bummed that this place is so far away from home and that we can't visit on a whim (it's about 2 1/2 from Louisville) so we'll have to settle with infrequent stops when traveling up I-69. Regardless, BYOB is a place I would, 100%, visit with amazing frequency if I was able. OH...and the restroom doors are cutely decorated.

My chips and salsa and queso were just fine and I finished them off. I will definitely stop in here again and try a different drink and maybe some actual food.

Walking into the restaurant made me smile because it was crisp and clean. The beers were deliveredquickly and the we ordered some classics. The carnitas included big slices of avocado... so delicious. The tacos entree (to go) was reportedly as being awesome! My favorite part of Mexican is the chips and salsa which was really tasty. My own enchiladas were ok but I will probably not order them again. I was not happy with our particular seating arrangement because the "booth" seats were only intended for 1 person. We like to sit next to each other so we can hear each other better... I didn't ask for a different table but could have since there were more tables available. Just felt weird that I also couldn't set my purse next to me.

Just a side note, I grew up in Texas and New Mexico eating good mexican food in Mexico when we made our vanilla runs, as well as good Tex Mex and New Mexican variants. Prices are fair, and helpings generous. The building has a left, right, & center room, making it ideal for groups, or parties. And a separate bar area. It has been remodeled, fairly recently, & looks wonderful. Always clean. The chips, & salsa, are a bit mild, for my taste, but not overly so. They use to have a spicier version I wish was still around. Still, very good. I generally get the chicken chimichangas. Sometimes they are excellent, while other times, simply very good. Beans are beans, & the rice suffers from the same blandness I've had at every Mexican restaurant. I wish someone would do something, to make it a part of the meal I'd really look forward to. Instead, it is just ok filler, to be consumed, on the rare occasion the entree doesn't do the job. Meal consistancy is the only thing I'm slightly disappointed in. They most likely have different cooks, of different skill levels. While I've never had a bad meal, as I've said, there does seem to be a wider range, of quality, than I typically find, at such an established place.

The restaurant is also decorated very cute and always very clean. They also have a really nice patio you can sit out at and eat. They also have daily lunch and dinner specials on weekdays that's extremely affordable. They have so many different delicious dishes but two of my favorites are the Pollo tapatio and the Chimachanga meal. The Pollo tapatio is grilled chicken breast with bacon, and mushrooms smothered in cheese sauce, and then comes with tortillas, rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo. It is absolutely delicious and a huge portion as well. I also highly recommend the Chimachanga meals. I prefer the chicken, it comes with the Chimachanga as well as lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, beans and rice. Its also a nice portion as well and very reasonably priced. I also highly recommend their queso dip because it is one of the best I have ever tasted. Alot of Mexican restaurants i have been to, the cheese dip is watered down and very runny and doesn't have the flavor that this restaurant's does. Their cheese dip here is thicker than other restaurants and has such a fuller better flavor to it then other restaurants i have tasted. Something else I would highly recommend is their Mexican fried ice cream. So delicious and such a generous portion size. They have such a wide variety on their menu so I would highly recommend checking their menu out. There is an ap for this restaurant that you can view the menu on. They also have a Facebook page. This restaurant is in Middletown, Indiana but it is very quick to get to from Anderson, just go down 53rd going towards Middletown and stay on that road and it leads you right to it. It's so worth the drive.
