    Chicken Saltado Burrito
    Shivansh C.

I got an ad on instagram for their restaurant which gave me a $15 coupon and it looked interesting so decided to try it out. I was able to get 2 burritos in $6 after discount but regardless burritos are just $9.99 which is prolly the cheapest price I have seen for burritos in bay area in a long while. They were pretty filling and the sauces helped ensure they werent dry. Will prolly eat from here again in the future if prices maintain. All in all, great meal for the price.

Lomo Saltado Burrito worth buying some of their Tartar Sauce

The gluten-free Steak Salad (a quarter pound of all-natural hormone-free grilled skirt steak, organic mixed greens, roasted corn, avocado, cherry tomatoes, Point Reyes blue cheese, balsamic vinaigrette) hit my macros beautifully and was a joy to both my eyes and my stomach, while the complimentary housemade tortilla chips and salsa utterly destroyed said macros but were still totally worth the sacrifice. :D

We ordered the deliciously filling breakfast bowl and swapped the eggs for rice. The banana chocolate smoothie was rich, refreshing, and honestly was my dessert. We also tried the sweet potato waffle, the steak bowl, and 2 cocktails: the Cool as a Cucumber and the Blue Oaxacan Skies. Every single item hit the mark Left full as a tick! It's been a while, so we decided to check out ZR for a late lunch…read more We found parking easily, but we had to wait a little bit before someone came by to seat us. We were seated at the booth in the back, which I have always admired, but I now realize it has its disadvantages. It is right by the bathroom, which got a bit of traffic on our visit. That's not such a big deal. The bigger concerns I have are: (1) there is no cushioning for those of us with little of our own and (2) you have to sit up fairly straight and if you want to lean against the wall, you're likely to rub shoulders with the wall hanging. Next time I will ask to be seated someplace else as there were two 2-tops outside. The food is always made from quality ingredients and I'm glad to see they are experimenting with pricing and quantity. I did not see mention of their daily happy hour, which was a feature of last year's visit so that may be gone. However, they now have a five tacos platter which offers relatively good value from the menu prices. This would be good for sharing for two people I think. But that is not what we ordered on this visit. My wife ordered two vegetarian (verduras) tacos and the Blood Orange/Jalapeno mocktail. I ordered the huevos rancheros. Unlike Luna, tortilla chips and salsa are not complimentary. So we let our appetites build. Our food arrived fairly quickly, so that was good and we dug in. My wife had ordered two extra eggs (extra charge) to accompany her tacos, and I think she was glad she did. The vegetarian tacos were not terribly generous for the price. My huevos rancheros came in a neatly stacked pile. My wife thought to ask if they had a hot sauce and they do! So we requested their hottest version. It was a welcome addition to the meal (gratis). A little vinegary, but plenty of heat. The mocktail was quite good. Like Spindrift and some other sparkling waters, it is not sweetened, but it had a good amount of strained blood orange juice, and you could taste the fresh jalapeño. I wonder if they have tried adding mint to this as I think it would be welcome. Maybe next time I will ask if they can experiment with me by adding some mint.

The food portions were…read moresmaller than we expected and it didn't really taste that good, not to mention the price for what you get isn't really worth it. It was very loud inside as I think they were making pico and using the multipurpose chopper. It got so loud at one point that we couldn't even talk with each other without having to practically scream. The decoration is beautiful though and feels like you're at a Mexican mom's fancy kitchen. Service was not good at all. We had to wait over 15 minutes to get our order taken and then we watched our food stand on the counter top for another 5 minutes. Once we were served we were never checked up on until the end when we had to flag them down to get the check. I don't think we'll be coming back.

I am not sure what the sauce was, but it was good. I think it was tomato and cream based. I tasted the cheese, and I could see the plantains, but I think more would have brought out the flavor of plantains. There was a good amount of shredded chicken, and it was very flavorful. The chicharron was super crispy and it added a nice crunch. And it came with two quail eggs which was a nice touch. The empanada de pollo was also good. There was a good amount of shredded chicken, and the additional sauce was good. Even though I cut it in half, the shell still held its shape. The ambiance is food truck; there are no seats, but the truck has a counter that you can eat at if you want to eat there. Parking around where they stopped wasn't great, but you can park at the Safeway lot across the street, just be careful crossing the street because traffic flows fast. The service was friendly and fast, but the new business has some technical issues. I could read the Spanish, or you just fine, but I wanted to access the English menu to find out more about the business, but when I scan it into the QR code, it lead to a locked Google document. Besides this, they are a wonderful starter business with good food.

We arrived around 5:30pm on a weeknight and the place was empty except for one couple. One of the first things I noticed was the music overhead was very loud. The waitress told us to sit wherever we wanted, so we grabbed a booth in the side room. Fortunately, the music was not as loud in there. I decided to try something I hadn't ordered previously and went with the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and rice. My companions ordered carne asada street tacos, chicken enmoladas, and a strawberry margarita. The food arrived quickly. My dish was nice-sized with three enchiladas, and while they were good, they were a bit too spicy for me. I could only eat about half of them. The rice was delicious and I would have liked more. Everyone else really enjoyed their food and kept commenting on how good it was. I asked if their food was spicy and they said no. They liked their strawberry margarita, too. I tried to order tres leche for dessert for us to share, but they were out. I've had it before at Casa Villa and it is scrumptious with lots of strawberries. The waitress then surprised us with a tiny piece she found in the fridge and three spoons. She didn't charge us for it. Overall it was a good dinner and I highly recommend Casa Villa. The restaurant is cozy with a warm, homey feeling and the service is excellent. I've had the fish tacos and quesabirria tacos in the past and they are delicious.
